Sounds like a party. When I was a teenager, our church had a problem for several months with the sound system intermittently picking up CB chatter from passing trucks and blasting it out to the congregation. As you might imagine, some of it was a bit, uh, colorful. This happens when the pastor is bringing the message and has to compete with the airwaves. I think I have it sorted out for now. We will see Sunday when I do the preaching. Could be interesting if Rick and Bubba come through!! I designed and ran the sound board at our old church for several years. Had a big pro company install it so everything was properly labeled. I doubt that it is now 20 years later as I know they have screwed up several things. I wouldn't touch it now if they paid me.

Been a strange couple of days. Yesterday went to the sawbones for a routine check up and was told that my PSA levels jumped up. SO he says that he wants to do a biopsy. I asked if there was something that was less drastic to do and he said there was. Stop the testosterone therapy I've been on for the past 10 years and see if it is effecting the prostate. I said that should have been the lead in answer. Not the secondary approach. Why do they always go for the most drastic first? Then today after my morning bible study class I lead one of the members asked me to assist him in getting signed up with the VA for benefits. So I went to his house and the process has changed considerably since I signed up 15 years ago. He had to set up his online account, then had to be verified no less that 7 times the last of which was to have a video chat with an examiner just to validate he was who he said he was. He was still working that through when I had to leave to meet a man from another church for lunch. He wanted to discuss and issue that he is facing and wanted my input. We went to the best BBQ place in town and had an amazing bowl of Brunswick Stew. This was the best I've has since I moved to Alabama 24 years ago from Georgia. Loaded with pulled pork and brisket! Came back home and should be working on a sermon for Sunday, but, I'm unable to concentrate at this time.... At least the wife is sleeping so I won't ne interrupted with political commentary until I want to watch some TV tonight... She's good that way... I have been on testosterone injection for about 15 years. My brain was so slow that I can't imagine stopping. It was a new lease on life. I hope your situation settles in a good manner. I go to the urologist the first part of April. Hoping mostly for no kidney surprises. I see people offering condolences, but I have not been able to find the post. I understand that you lost a good friend. I hope you are comforted by the mercy of Christ.

Any recommendations for a starter smoker? Been over to Amazon and the selection is daunting. I was looking at the metal version of the medium big egg. Around 200 bucks. I saw good reviews and I don't need anything else to leave to my son. If you plan on using it a lot, the pellet smokers are popular.

Found out this morning that a friend and colleague passed away. He was a Preacher, retired teacher and very strong man of God working hard for his community. He was diagnosed a couple months ago with cancer, and being the private person he was, asked that the family be allowed to have private time with him to the end. He was supportive of me when I announced my call to preach, always being an encouragement to me. He will be missed. There it is. Again, condolences. You will see him again.

I am no doctor, never played one on TV, but ride herd on this John, cancer can really move fast from that region of the body to other areas… I am sure you know that…. Good wishes going forward, I will pray that you get solid counsel on this.

A buddy of mine just quit driving the semi for Pit Boss grills, pretty much anything he would want, he could get for free…. He offered me an opportunity to take his place, but the company just signed a contract with the Baltimore Ravens and Green Bay, I am not into traversing them routes in the wintertime… big bucks driving a beautiful show truck, but I am now only away from home 6 days a month and I can be home the same day if there was a family emergency. Having said that, I saw several of their units at Lowe’s today… really nice units, but I am not a pellet guy I like the traditional way.

Made a lot of good barbecue on that. Cost me about 30 bucks in 71. No complaints.

Probably a great choice for a bachelor… I had the little smoky, the miniature version of the kettle and grilled a lot at the beach in Santa Cruz back in the day, but that is a different kettle of fish… which in Santa Cruz and Monterey, that was what we customarily grilled/ smoked. 😉 In my earlier linked post, someone posted about the benefits of the horizontal smoker… it really makes a lot of sense.

You probably had the 14. I had the 18. It was just right for me and my young first wife. A horizontal smoker makes a lot of sense if you use it enough.

Good Evening! I didn't get the chance to smoke anything today because I was unavoidably detained. Last night while having dinner, I swallowed a piece of pot roast and it lodged in my esophagus and wouldn't move. I waited all night, but after being totally miserable, distressed, and sleepless, I headed to the ER up the street at 6:00. From there, I was transferred to a local hospital and had an endoscopy that cleared the blockage. I'm doing better now, but I feel like I've been through the wringer and should get a good night's sleep tonight.

I do not have many phobia's but a restricted windpipe is up there...Heck, I had a deviated septum that was not diagnosed, that was a bad road that I travelled, can't imagine an esophageal problem. Glad to hear that you got it sorted out.

Thanks, guys. Not a fun way to spend the day, but I'll live and a pipe will be smoked tomorrow.

Smoking coal has a downside, that chimney is going to get caked. Everclear shots will bust it up.

Sounds like an ordeal that would be most welcome in the avoidance thereof. Don’t do that anymore!

Got a piece of ham lodged in there. It was fairly small, so not really blocking anything, but it was dang uncomfortable. It finally went on down in my sleep a couple nights later. A few months later I went in and had my esophagus stretched. Haven't had that problem since, but it probably will have to be done again at some point. An option you might consider.

If you stretch your esophagus do you qualify as a snuffleupagus?

Hey, username , how was the tattoo convention thing? Came in 4th but they only had prizes for top 3 but the top 3 were like HOLY CRAP level of detail the number one in small color was a clown fish and a sea anemone that looked like it could have been a photo so I will take my loss with grace. They didnt have a traditional category so i didn't enter the memorial tattoo. It was fun to hang out with my dad so im glad I went.

Glad it worked out for the better. Sorry I was not around. A musket ram rod with a little lard smeared would have done the trick. Hold still, now. Seriously, I am glad you are OK now!

Chew your food 32 times not sure how true it is but it takes me forever to eat my meals. I can guarantee that I never make it to 32 but by gosh I eat slow. Baby Scarlet is getting her first teeth and she has my pissed off face.

Russ experience has reminded me to chew and chew. Since I have about 24 teeth left and no grinders it takes a long time. Yes, small pieces of meat and water on hand to wash it down. With my current situation health wise, I was advised to make vegetables my main food intake. Well, maybe. Soon, a ground beef and elk meatloaf is planned. That seems harmless enough... (Famous Last Words, eh, Mr. Nobel?)
