Was among the last 30 people kicked out of the smoking tent at the end of the Chicago Pipe Show tonight. Now for a good night's sleep before my 3 hour-ish drive home in the morning.

The drive home from Chicago was good. The weather was nice, traffic was light, and no major road construction. It took 3hr 45min to get with stops for coffee, food, gas, and rest area.

Sounds like the plot for The Sting set in September 1936.

After nearly 17 hours in two separate planes, my son and I are back in the United States. Learned a lot about myself this trip, both good and some not so good but that’s how you get better. Glad to be home and driving on the correct side of the road!

Sounds like the plot for The Sting set in September 1936. Sometimes, when an obnoxious drunk insists on betting, even after you tell him that it was pre-recorded. Typical Cowboys fan. He raised the bet. I actually won $200, but I couldn't take it all. He thought I was the greatest guy ever ever. I thought he was an idiot. I was playing poker with a few of my friends. 2 left and the other one was drunk. I stacked the deck, holding the cards in his face, and dealt myself a royal flush. He still didn't get it. I put him to bed and he didn't remember it later. We were 20 and in college. TKE fraternity. See Animal House. I chose to stay sober, because I figured someone needed to. I never liked getting drunk.

I tried to do Kuk Sul Wan with my son, as we had the international grand master in our neighborhood. He had a hard time paying attention to his sensei and his school work suffered so we pulled him out. He wanted to study fencing, so we found a fencing school with Olympic coaches. He wanted to start with broadsword. Same issues. I envy your relationship with your son. I just can't bring myself to play video games.

I've spent all afternoon at the doc's office, getting my wrist looked at. Several x-rays. Lots of bending and twisting and prodding and mashing. They finally decided I have a cyst in the back of my wrist and gave me a cortisone shot. If I'm lucky, the needle also punctured the cyst, which will actually fix the problem.
They said these used to be called "bible cysts", because the treatment was they'd lay your wrist flat on a hard surface and then haul off and whack it as hard as they could with a heavy, hardback book, to rupture the cyst.

I used to get those all the time when I was a kid. Someone told me to just whack them and I did. Scary the first time then after that, I didn't even think about it. I probably whacked 4 or 5. Haven't had one in many years. Probably a good thing because I would be hesitatant to whack my wrist against the wall at this age.

I worked with a guy that was a cyst magnet…. He used to get them on his face, back, chest… he even had one by the testicles. A like-able guy that had five failed marriages behind him, always was willing to dispense marital advice because he had been there done that.
Five women would probably want to give him the bible treatment at least on the testicles.

Well, the freezer is OK. I bought an alarm for it. If that doesn't work, oh well. The AC compressor is shot so that has to be replaced. I've been reading about the hard time even hard working young people are having these days. Looking around I can see it. I'm afraid things are going to break soon. We're blessed to be able to write a check for the AC unit and the freezer if we need it. I see so many people who, despite working hard, have no disposable income. I do what I can for the people I meet. Tip big and pay extra if I see someone who seems to need it.

I saw an interview with gen Z’s…. One complained that even though he made 3X the minimum wage, he could not make ends meet.
I was fresh out of high school during the Carter years, so I can relate.

Before the last few months, I figured it was mostly unrealistic expectations from too much social media, and a lot of the Tic-Toc seem to have that problem, but I'm not seeing that in real life.

My daughter works for child protective services and her husband does federal cyber security they do very well of course they both are well educated. They just gave us our first grand child and already they have decided that Abeka education is the best plan. The money they make is out standing to say the least. My daughters long time friend Dianna is still struggling to find the right career path. I do not regret the sacrifices the wife and made to keep our daughter in private schools. We get to sit back now knowing we raised our daughter with a proper set of conservative values and a love for God and country.
