Today's routine pharmacy and hardware store run turned into a real adventure. Parked the car at CVS, came back out, car wouldn't start. No dash lights, nuttin'. Okay, so I checked the battery cable connections and jiggled them around. Progress...key-in-ignition warning bell sound when I opened the door. Hmmm...I placed a tow request with my insurance company's roadside assistance preparing for the worst. We're about two weeks away from getting another car and this junker conks out! Geezer intuition...hmmm...if just moving the battery cables a bit provided enough juice for the warning sound? Yep. I disconnected then reconnected the battery cables and it started back up. Been through this routine before. Cancel the tow truck, recliner time! Geezer intuition for the win!

I noticed that you said: So obviously not worth worrying about but....if you were keeping the car, I would recommend trimming back a little bit of the cable to look at the wires. I once had a situation where everything looked spiffy, but it was solid corrosion hiding from me. I just had to replace the wife's car battery, it was the original from 2020...went to Costco and he said "36 month/3 year warranty" I used to always buy the maximum length warranty on Costco batteries (48), and Arizona summers killed them before 48 months...Take the battery to Costco and get all your cash back, go buy another battery...no pro-rating.
I admitted it to the guy at the counter and he laughed and said "it is people like you that caused Costco to change their policy, Arizona kills batteries, the people in Seattle noticed the trend", and held out a knuckle bump.

You're right, Charlie, temperature extremes just kill batteries. Good advice on cutting the battery cable back, too.

The diesel engine in my truck draws a lot current to start what with the fuel pump, the injector pump, the starter motor, the glow plugs. So, if the terminal connections on both batteries are not spit shiny, no joy. I keep a wire terminal brush handy and have had to clean them in parking lots.

I wonder if a spray of Strike-Hold would help. I've heard people say it works wonders on automotive electrical whatnot.

On this day, lest we forget. Concord Hymn BY RALPH WALDO EMERSON Sung at the Completion of the Battle Monument, July 4, 1837 By the rude bridge that arched the flood, Their flag to April’s breeze unfurled, Here once the embattled farmers stood And fired the shot heard round the world. The foe long since in silence slept; Alike the conqueror silent sleeps; And Time the ruined bridge has swept Down the dark stream which seaward creeps. On this green bank, by this soft stream, We set today a votive stone; That memory may their deed redeem, When, like our sires, our sons are gone. Spirit, that made those heroes dare To die, and leave their children free, Bid Time and Nature gently spare The shaft we raise to them and thee. Spare and celebrate.

My wife's Scion has awful battery terminals. Every 3 months or so they give up and have to be cleaned and retightened. They are 2 thin clamps each, instead of the heavy clamps everyone else uses. I took them completely apart last time and thoroughly cleaned and treated them before putting it back together. I am guessing that other Toyota products don't use these.

I wonder of electrical contact cleaner would so the same, pricey stuff but it works great on other applications.

When I lived in Kansas back in the 70's a family from another state hadn't heard from "uncle gus" in awhile and could not contact him. He lived out in the country by himself, the cops went out and the pigs had eaten him....I think they speculated he had a stroke and the pigs...well they got hungry.

Rams can be a handful. My old one from years ago, "Sammy Bin Ramy", was always butting me. I would hold out my hand, palm facing and he would pound it like a Boxer sparing. My current Ram, "Harold", was bottle raised and he is quite tame in comparison. Still have to keep an eye on him. Ditto Buck goats and bulls.

Woke up to a tri-fecta of funk… Leo had puke/diarrhea/ urine in his cage, he hung in the corner and had none on him. I opened the door and he spring loaded his exit so as to not get soiled.
Blanket went to the garbage and the wife helped me get the cage to the driveway.
When I had a Mastiff/Dane she was not a crate animal, on the occasion she was sick, it was like having a horse in the house…no more dogs wver of that size.

One of them kept butting down corner posts that were railroad ties set 3' deep. No thank you. Even the cute babies will butt you and it hurts.

Yep, worked with a man who had a pet goat, one morning early he let him out, drank coffee, went to his truck, BAM, knocked his arse down, got up BAM, chased him around the truck till he jumped in the bed. At Exxon you never lived 💩like that downgot a big goat growl every day when he came in the control center, His wife pimped on him at a Company function.

Urban folk can be “funny” about all animals. They think bears are for cuddling and bison are for petting. Disney had a LOT to answer for.

One of my Bucks, "Lance", was highly playful with me. He weighed about 250 pounds, quite tall. He would stand on his hind legs to get plenty of power to butt me. I would carry a Quarterstaff and use it to lever him out of the way. He learned. I never struck him. His sone, "Elfido" and "Crash" were less playful. I am sorry that line of Bucks is over with they were great.

Today is the complete opposite of yesterday. 67 degrees, low humidity and plenty of sun.. Spent the morning setting up an old Peplink Balance router so I don't have to change cables every time the internet goes kaput.
