Bad news had a flat tire good news I was in the parking lot at work and theirs a tire shop across the street. Better news it was patchable. Years ago I took my car across the border from San Diego into Tijuana. After shopping and eating I noticed some blocks of wood with nails driven through… think spike nail chocks. You go forward, you go backward… 4 Flats. Who in the hell would have done that? Looked across the parking lot and saw some knuckleheads watching me from the llantera… (tire shop) I wanted to give them the bird, but I wasn’t taking chances that the tire shop owners brother was not a cop.

I once blew an oil line and came to a stop in front of hardware store with an auto parts place next door. Bought a pipe clamp and more motor oil and was on my way home. Fortune favors the (you fill in the blank).

A visit to the bone doctor today, the gal that took my vitals and escorted me back to the exam room… I had to ask her to repeat everything twice.
None of the speaking was face to face, walking down a hall with her back to me. Talking waay too fast. Lack of enunciation

You have touched on a modern flaw of younger people. Way too fast speaking, lacking enunciation, volume too low. A constant problem when on the phone with younger people. Sometimes incomprehensible. I politely ask them to speak louder and slower. Too often they are offended and become difficult. More than once I have asked to speak with someone else. Offshore customer service people speak their own language in rapid fire and do the same with English. Filipinos are the toughest for me. However, when asked to slow down, they are usually fine with that. For some reason I understand Indians just fine and enjoy their accented English. I have a hard time not replying with the same cadence and inflections.

“ I politely ask them to speak louder and slower. Too often they are offended and become difficult. ”
I was tempted to do so, but decided not to because of the reason you said. I hate to speak in generalities and sound like “dad” but we were born in a different generation where the advice of older people in our orbit, we were trained to respect, and wisdom came with age.
Our generation (and subsequent) seemed to not do such a great job of passing that on.
I almost mentioned it to the physicians assistant, a really great guy….think I will email him.

I can't hear 80 to 90% of wild bird song without mine. A singing red winged black bird was totally silent to me before I got mine. Just after I got mine, I remember sitting just listening while fascinated by the sound of a piece of paper sliding around on my desk.

I was absolutely thrilled to hear all of the birds chirping and singing. S'funny, though, because sometimes I just can't quite hear what my wife is saying about something that she wants me to do.

Watching the Cleveland vs Boston game with Lily the Cat. The Guardians are winning 5-2 and Lily just jumped down from her spot on the arm of the recliner. I think that she's secretly a Red Sox fan and doesn't like the way the game is going.

My wife wants me to get hearing aids. I passed the hearing test several years ago, and I passed the online test last year. I told her that I will get another hearing test but she has to get one too. She never hears anything I say. If she acknowledges it at the time, next day I never said it. I hear birds fine some of them actuality hurt my ears. I have tinnitus that comes and goes. They're ringing pretty good tonight after 2 hours on the mower. She lost her beautiful soprano singing voice after her surgery 2 years ago and her voice is very weak now, but she doesn't compensate. So we go through life not hearing each other. But I don't think there's a machine for that.

Okay, so it went like this. This afternoon we had an appointment to go look at a used car at a dealership outside of Akron and were ready to drive off when they called. Apparently, they were too quick to list the car for sale. When it was being inspected prior to our arrival, the repair department found a major problem with the transmission and it's no longer for sale. Since we were already in our car, we decided to salvage the day and went for ice cream cones.

Son bought a high dollar Volvo, used, has had nothing but trouble. I’m convinced Toyota is the car with the least problems, I Garronte!

Here, it's partly cloudy, windy, and a mite toasty at 82 degrees. Dunno if I'll be able to smoke a pipe in this wind, or not.

He does NOT need more work and turns away most European made cars. I still like some Fords. The only Volvos I want are the 544 or the 144. From the 1960s.

Cloudy, warm and humid in NE Texas today. Another tornado watch. Hard to stay excited about these when you get one every other week for years. Probably worry if we hear a train in the back yard or the electricity goes out m

Ford and Chevy are rated better than Toyota in the latest report, but Toyota is in the top 5. The most troublesome are Range Rover, Jaguar and, Volvo! In high school my buddy and his dad both had the Volvo PV544s, the ones with the fenders and they were super dependable.
