Son bought a high dollar Volvo, used, has had nothing but trouble. I’m convinced Toyota is the car with the least problems, I Garronte! Ford and Chevy are rated better than Toyota in the latest report, but Toyota is in the top 5. The most troublesome are Range Rover, Jaguar and, Volvo! In high school my buddy and his dad both had the Volvo PV544s, the ones with the fenders and they were super dependable. I remember those cars. They were the ones that put Volvo on the map.

I once had a diesel Volvo in NI. Great little car with super mileage and lots of pep. (A friend’s wife once said that they wanted to get a “Vulva.”)
50s and rain here today. An inside day. I made an elk-hide sling for the new 9mm carbine.

I rode to school in one every day for 2 years until I got my own car. It was very roomy. My buddy and I were both 6',but his dad was 7'2. Kind of like a bigger Beetle with 59% more power. We rebuilt the engine when he first got it. Very simple engine. After a couple of months he got a dual carb setup. 2 Strombergs instead of 1. Tuning that was more trouble than anything else, but it never left us stranded. The thing about all the new cars and trucks that cause the problems are the complications, auto butt wipers and such.

He does NOT need more work and turns away most European made cars. I still like some Fords. The only Volvos I want are the 544 or the 144. From the 1960s. I was surprised to see that Subaru was in the top 10 of problem cars. I would probably buy one anyway. I like them.

My friend who drives me to Santa Fe to the Cancer center is in an ancient Civic. Missing body parts and has hundreds of thousands of miles. Runs like a top and handles like a sportscar. Manual tranny, of course. He can squeeze it to 50 MPG if he is light on the throttle. Mostly, he drives like a maniac. When it snows, a Dodge 3500 dually flatbed with 4WD.

JD power defects per 100. They have other lists and I'm not sure that was the one. I was looking to get an idea of how my wife's 2012 Scion Xb Release 9 was going to hold up after 100k miles. They have several ways of rating.

Most recent Consumer Reports rankings: Everything I have ever bought based on Consumer Reports has been a lemon. YMMV.

Front wheel drive made sense. I was sorry to learn how trouble prone they were.

Frozen rain and snow alternating now. Supposed to turn to all snow before dawn and continue on all day as rain after about 11:00 AM. Glad for the moisture and that I did not plant any plant starts.

My 07 Tundra has been a very good truck, fast forward 2 yrs ago, ABS light goes blinking, take it to the Toyota crooks,,they stop the light with a hefty bill, couple months light comes back on, take it to another Toyota crook, they say they can’t fix it, take it back to the original Toyota crooks, they say they can’t fix it. Well I’ve driven many trucks in my life without ABS, DECIDED the flashing light I can live with, what I can’t live with is stupid, just use the truck to get feed, few pieces of lumber, mulch for Mommas garden, I can live with flashing light.

Everything I have ever bought based on Consumer Reports has been a lemon. YMMV. I can show you half a dozen lists that also show results that are pretty much the same. It’s not just Consumer Reports. Thanks. I'll rely on my own experience. I know Toyotas are dependable, if that's what you are trying to convince me of. I don't care.

We had a 72 and 73 Honda Civics at the same time. They were lousy cars, e The engines and clutches were breaking down every couple of months. I know Honda makes good cars now. But how good? My buddy has a Pilot with a hundred thousand miles and he's spent 30k on repairs. I ask him why he kept the lemon and he says he has too much invested to sell it. Everyone has their own ideas about what's a good car or truck. I believe the lists as much as I believe anything else on the Internet. I'm sorry I mentioned it. I was surprised by the rankings myself. One thing I noticed is that Ram and Chrysler are always way down the list. I've really never had any problems with several Chrysler products.

Some really fine older cars 54 Chevy and 53 Crown Vic looking better than they ever did. I wouldn't buy any new car. There was a candy apple red 51 F100 with a 350,Turbo 400 and AC. Sweet. I might look into leasing a new vehicle depending on how I feel. Iike the Maverick and the Bronco Sport.

Looked hard at the Forester from Suburu JA-Pan assembled ended up with a GMC 2500 with the Allisan transmission 6.6L cost was 9000 more than Subaru. Brakes, tires and oil see ya in another 10 years.

If I was to buy a classic, it would have to be new enough to have A/C.
At this point in life, with any major purchase I am asking is it going to depreciate?
It is amazing to see how many 100K pickups there are around here…more power to them, not for me.
