Looked hard at the Forester from Suburu end up with a GMC 2500 with the Allisan transmission 6.6L cost was 9000 more than Subaru. B Well, you had a need for it. I don't need much anymore. You would have a hard time moving your home with the Subaru.

My 2500HD has a 15,600 tow limit. My travel trailer weighs 3500. I am a believer in overwhelming force.
I would love to have a Model A pickup. *SIGH*

About 25K tops currently for me buying a car, I just need something to get from point A>B, and has decent crash resistance.
Not pulling anything, so my Frontier is just fine for me, and the only snow is navigated in my company truck.

If I was to buy a classic, it would have to be new enough to have A/C. At this point in life, with any major purchase I am asking is it going to depreciate? It is amazing to see how many 100K pickups there are around here…more power to them, not for me. All these old cars had AC, except the 50 F1 and the 61 Studebaker. You don't build a hot rod in the south without AC these days. I almost bought a couple of Corvair convertables, but lack of AC was a deal killer. Of course, all these festivals are in the spring or fall when it's not so hot, so maybe I wasn't smart. The July 4th local show is only a mile away.

Elon keeps claiming he's going to make a 25k Tesla. There are several low mileage used Model 3s in NE Texas in that price range 😁

A podcast that I listen to, if you don't you should...Under The Hood from Souix Falls... Anyway, a guy called in with that problem on his Tesla, and he was quoted 20K if they could get him the batteries, but all the ones they have are spoken for, for current production. They did mention a place in Phx that can save someone quite a bit, and they go cell by cell to fix it. I just wonder for someone not living here, transportation fees have to be pricey, and Hazmat fees on spent lithium...I wouldn't even want to think about that cost.
They also mentioned that Camping world has a tool where you can punch in your vin# and find out the towing capacity of your vehicle. The common rule of thumb is do not exceed 80% of your towing capacity.
rv.campingworld.com/towguideSo I guess my capacity is right at 5K...

That is a nice sized trailer, Bob. Make and model? A Casita, Charlie. Made in Texas. All fiberglass. A/C, HWH, Furnace, fridge, freezer, shower, the works. I love it. Mine is an ‘03 and looks brand new. They are a bit of a “cult” trailer, like Airstreams. I highly recommend them.

I saw a casita locally, smaller version and too small. Yours is probably half again longer than the one I saw, yours is a nice size. 15' or so?

My F-150 has run like a top, knock on wood. Of course, I'm pretty easy on cars. Haven't had any kind of trouble with one since my ancient Saab 900. I admired the Saab 900 when it was first distributed. The design was pleasing. Front wheel drive made sense. I was sorry to learn how trouble prone they were. Such an eminently practical car. Put those rear seats down and you could carry an immense amount of stuff under that wide, capacious hatch.

I think it was called the Patriot. Mine is 17’ and called a Spirit Deluxe. I call it my Dirt Yacht, since inside it is set up and finished more like a yacht than a “regular” RV. Her name is OTRA— for my “other” house and On The Road Again. I put larger tires and a high-lift axle on it for off-road use. The dogs and I spent two AZ/NM winters in it with NO problems about space or claustrophobia. Very pleasant living.
By the way, Casita has no dealers. You deal directly with the factory. When your trailer is done you either pick it up there or they will have it delivered. Resale value is incredible. I could put mine on the ‘net tonight and it would be sold sight-unseen in a couple of hours, for more than I paid for it even considering inflation.

I had a buddy that owned a transmission shop, he refused to work on the Saab 900, it was a royal pain to remove, and Saab owners were angry at the quoted price, so he chose not to work on them. I have come to the conclusion that a lot of the European cars are cool if you have the bucks to own one, and sell it when it is no longer under warranty. Out of warranty, parts are expensive, some shops are not well versed on working on them and cannot justify charging a customer while their mechanic "learns" the processes...so off to the European mechanic shop, if you have one nearby. My son bought an Audi, it needed front end work. During the repair procedure it looked like a parting out/dismantling job. The whole front end of the car was taken off...and that was at a shop that specialized in European cars.

I was still living in my small, rural hometown at the time. It took a while and a lot of calling around to find somebody who could do the work. Was lucky to find someone at all. (My town happened to be kind of a hub of used car dealerships and the mechanics to support them.)

We thought we were going to save money, but that didn't work out. Always liked the "idea" of the Saab.

My wife and I headed out to Albion Malleable Brewing for brunch today. I’m not sure what my meal will kill with first: a heart attack or diabetes. 🤪 It was Fried Chicken on a Biscuit with potatoes and bacon on the side. The chicken was panko breaded, fried, and then dunked in honey and placed between the two halves of a big biscuit. Tasty but deadly.
Also, I finally managed to catch up on washing used mason jars to prepare fo use again.
We hit 81 here in SW Michigan today but will slide back into the 60s over the next few days.
Tomorrow, I am heading over towards Flint to attend the 76th annual Michigan Regional Smoking Contest.
