Back home, smoking and listening to Cage the Elephant, Melophobia on vinyl. I have a really hard time putting the man in your avatar together with your taste in music. I’m an extremely eclectic person. 🙂 From what I know of Basil, I think he would approve. I’ve moved on to Milky Chance.

One of them songs that when it came on to the AM radio in the 1972 international cabover Transtar 1070 , everything was right in-the world. TheDetroit 318 provided the smoke… good times.

Joe Cocker always got under my skin, so without listening to his version, I’ll say Steve Winwood.

I saw them at St. Andrew’s in Detroit not that long ago, two years? It’s a really small venue and it was only at about half capacity. We got there early. I ended up about three feet from Perry Farrell and he struck up a conversation with me about how small the place was and how much it cost them to come there and how he didn’t think they would make any money that night as a result. The whole time I was fixated on noticing how much plastic surgery he’s had in an obvious attempt to stay young looking. What should have been theoretically cool was kind of a sad experience, I had seen them in massive venues in the past and I felt all the more older as well. Still love Jane’s Addiction. By the way, it’s the same St. Andrew’s mentioned in the song, which is set in Detroit. Go to the store at eight was a reference to buying drugs on Eight Mile, a major road here. I was able to confirm my suspicion of that, that night.

Thanks. My wife had the album, Bare Trees, when we met. That was the first time I had heard it. I took guitar lessons for a while. When the guy asked me what I wanted to play. I told him this. He said it was difficult so I asked "how about Classical Gas" 😁. I never got the hang of the guitar, more of a keyboard guy.

I enjoyed the Nina Simone version but am going with Eric Burdon and the Animals. I grew up with the Animals, but now I have to go with the original. Nina gets it.

Saw that live long ago in a galaxy far away. I had forgotten about that concert. Now I remember it as overwhelming.

Ron your last set reminds me of Sunday mornings with newspapers all around the floor back in the early 70s.
