Thanks, Russ. When I get the hankerin', I just go out looking for something with nice grain and lines. Some people collect brands or finishes or countries or materials or whatever. I collect pretty. If I don't find it, I don't buy. But I loved the lines and grain on this one.

Like I was saying to Jon the other day, I love beautiful wooden objects. The grain of the wood has to be a major feature of the beauty.

That Caminetto apple arrived today. When I went to take it apart and look it over, I got a surprise. It has a screw-in tenon. I haven't seen that on a Caminetto before, but I'm not hugely familiar with their pipes so maybe it's not uncommon. The other part of the surprise is the threaded tenon is actually on the shank, not the stem. I don't think I've seen that, either.
Does this seem unusual to anyone else?

I have an early Caminetto and it's got a regular tenon. I don't know where that could have come from as the guys that made up Caminetto were all from Castello. Anyone ever see a Castello with a screw tenon?

Remember when internet searches worked. If you typed it in boolean, you got the answer you were looking for. Same with early Amazon and eBay. Not the searches are just to sell us stuff we don't want.

My wife and I are planning a vacation in Orlando but we are not theme park people. While researching what we might see or do while there, I almost entered the search term "Orlando for adults" and then realized I would not get the results I was looking for. In case anyone is wondering why Orlando in July plus not being theme park folks? Well, I waited too long to book a condo with our timeshare. The only availability was Orlando, Phoenix, or Palm Desert. 🤷♂️ At least we will be able to visit my cousin and his family. Plus, Kennedy Space Center.

And it will enhance your appreciation for next January in Michigan. 😁 If you get a chance, visit the Tiffany museum in Winter Park. A very adult thing to do. I also drove to the Cape to see the space stuff. Plus, Orlando has a lot of great restaurants and such.

Once upon a time, one of my account managers sent me to Miami in July for a couple days of deep dive technical meetings. He said it made up for having sent me to Ottawa in January… Our condo is a stone's throw from Sea World along I-drive. Yelp shows a huge selection of restaurants around where we will be. I stopped telling Yelp to "show me more" at 80. We do have a full kitchen in the condo with a Publix nearby. Breakfasts and a few other meals will be home made. They complex has grilling areas. So, for one night, I plan on getting steaks to grill. My cousin is a foodie and lives in a northern suburb. I will be getting some recommendations from him. Looks like most things are going to be pricey to get into. We'll probably pass on Epcot as I doubt that I’ll find it worth $109/person/day. Kennedy Space Center is $70/person with the $5 over 55 senior discount. Sea Life Aquarium is almost $40. Gatorland is $35 but my wife will get a couple bucks off since she just turned 60. I may just find a quiet spot in the condo complex to sit and smoke my pipe. I’m really hoping no one is in a condo near our balcony and I can get away with smoking my pipe there.

Epcot used to be great. Especially if you've never been. We went in 87 and again in 2011. It's had obviously slipped by then, but still a good time. I hear it's a shadow of it's self nowadays. They closed the Alfredos which was the highlight for foodies. When I went to the Kennedy Space Center, it was $5 I think. Not enough to bother with anyway. I don't see Miami in July as a blessing. We went in April the first time and Thanksgiving week the second time.

I recently searched out an item at Home Depot and clicking through the reviews every contributor admitted that they received compensation for reviewing a unit that they probably got for free. Of course, it was all five star reviews.
I wonder how many reviews elsewhere are never declared… Amazon products that ship from China are notoriously fake reviewed.

Shopping on Amazon has become a skill that needs to be developed. As Amazon got worse I learned to put the lessons I learned from buying pipes on eBay.

Ken Byron Ventures and Wilke always ship quickly, but I rarely see anyone mention them. Tobacco Pipes and Watch City Cigars are also perfect in my case. Only issue I've had with P&C is sometimes the shipping is slow. I don't care, I have plenty of tobacco to smoke.

Picked up a couple more pipes in the last couple weeks. The first one's a Barling TVF EXEL Lumberman: The other one is a Parker sandblasted Lovat (or is it a long-shanked billiard?) with saddle stem.
