Hey yall I'm considering ordering some cornell and diehl tins off of smokingpipes.com and since I'm new to this I was wondering if yall had any good recommendations for blends to try out. That’s a big question. Narrowing it down to a genre might help, (Burley, VaPer, English, etc.). I agree… if you have not figured out which tobaccos you like, I would suggest attending a pipe club meeting. It can be invaluable. www.unitedpipeclubs.org/content.aspx?page_id=22&club_id=90797&module_id=195858

I only really stock up on Old Joe Krantz as far as the C&D blends go. I hear good things about Pegasus and Briar Fox.

Hey yall I'm considering ordering some cornell and diehl tins off of smokingpipes.com and since I'm new to this I was wondering if yall had any good recommendations for blends to try out. Warning: C&D tends to ship young tins. Their Virginia and English blends really need a minimum of 12 months in the tin. For Pegasus, I recommend at least 6 months. If you pop a tin and don’t like it, jar it up and revisit every couple of months. What sucks 2 months after tinning can be stellar after 12 months. My C&D favorites: Autumn Evening (this one is best fresh and unaged IMHO) Bijou Crooked Lane Good Morning Interlude Opening Night Pegasus Professor Rajah's Court Yale Mixture Yorktown ( this Va smokes fine young; I attribute it to the stoving) Also, I have a person blend that I call Pegasus River made from 2 C&D blends: 2 parts Pegasus to 1 part Green River Vanilla

Thanks everyone for the recommendations. I think I like more burley virgina and perique blends as of now. I do love aromatics especially vanilla and chocolate flavored ones. I like dark fired Kentucky and latikia, but for me it's more of a condiment flavor or a certain time and place kinda thing for a strong blend as such. I'm gonna get a 8oz tin of haunted bookshop I have smoked that the most so far since I started smoking pipe. Im gonna look at all yalls recommendations in the morning have a good night yall.

15 pouches of half and half heading this way...yeah I'm stocking up. Should be here in a week or so. Tobaccopipes.com has been very reliable for me. It's 70 something degrees here in the northwest Houston area. The rain is coming down and I can see our backyard and beyond it, the lake, while the thunder claps. I just found out that my 15 pouches of half and half will be here tomorrow afternoon. It's a very comfortable day, warm in the house and I feel compelled to say a prayer for those who don't have life nearly as well as I. The package came yesterday and the tobacco was put away properly. I love waiting for a package to arrive...part of the fun of buying baccy.

I went to rite aid today and got 3 boxes of Carter hall for 2 dollars each and a 12oz can of captain black for 31 dollars and also grabbed a few zippo pipe lighter for 4 dollars a piece they retail for 34.95. Wow I think these zippos will resell quick. Spent some money but I think it was worth it. I may go back and buy the big half and half tubs they are selling for 20 something

Yes it's old for sure but it smokes great and the captain black is a 12oz tin and I heard they haven't sold that size in awhile either. I don't know how to exactly date it but I am sure its pretty old. I haven't tried that one yet it's all metal so I may open it and give some to my pipe club and just jar the rest up. Im not a big fan of captain black, its good but not my favorite. I like the can though lol.

It was 50% off tobacco and 80% of everything else. I may visit the other ones in the area and get more of the zippo pipe lighters if there are any left.

turbocat, did you ever get any kind of satisfaction from Vermont Freehand? Nothing. I’ve returned what I received and I’m disputing the charge. Pretty much the only thing I can think of to do.

Best course of action. You will find out how good or bad your credit card company is, hopefully the former not the latter.

I’m now also out the postage for returning what I did get, plus the time to do all of this and my credit card company says it may take up to two months to resolve it. Even if this gets handled rapidly and works out like it should, I still lose, just not as much. It’s not like $180 is going to break me, but if I didn’t follow through with this, especially considering the responses I got from him, I wouldn’t be able to get it off my mind.

Placed an order with Smokingpipes this morning. It'll probably leave their place this evening or tomorrow morning. The usual pound bags of Haunted Bookshop and Three Friars, cans of Night Train, Oak Alley, Riverboat Gambler and Five o'clock Shadow. And a couple tins of SG Best Brown.

Unfortunately, a box which was supposed to arrive in the mail today is still in the mail. :-( Usually USPS is fairly reliable around here. Unfortunately, they made a rare mistake today at the regional PO (Kalamazoo, MI) which is the last stop before my local PO. The box ended up going to a different town's PO. So, tomorrow. Luckily, I have enough pipes to smoke to hold me until the box arrives tomorrow.
Yes, my traditional luck(?) of finding an irresistable pipe just before going to a pipe show continues.

Sigh. Apparently it takes more than overnight to correct the routing error within the local region. 🤷♂️😢

Sigh. Apparently it takes more than overnight to correct the routing error within the local region. 🤷♂️😢 Frustrating. Make me think of the old Heinz Ketchup commercial "Aaaanticiiipaaaation it's making you wait". Sometimes I watch packages ping pong between the Denver USPS distribution center and the local branch for 2-3 days before they finally send it out for delivery.

An estate pipe from Smokingpipes.com and some blending stuff from Tobaccopipes.com. I've been chasing this exact Brebbia for awhile and I guess I manifested it, as the youngsters say.

Thanks, Pete. It's entirely my pipe vibe. And I've never had a Brebbia. Seems they don't get enough respect.
