Missouri Meerschaum’s Rockin’ Earl 155th Anniversary blend in a new MM Pirate Poker. Holy quality control issues, Batman. The poker is supposed to sit, it doesn’t even when packed full. It’s very tiny compared to pictures though I knew it was small and bought it for that reason. I got a tin of Pipe Force V with this order and the tin was open and fully dried to a complete crisp! I’ve reached out to MM, never had this with one of these round tins before now. Rockin’ Earl - Aromatic blend of burley, bright and red, and a good dose of Latakia. Tasting notes of Earl Grey tea, vanilla, pound cake, lemon zest, and cedar smokiness. Blended by The Country Squire.
A through and through, same old same old Sutliff aromatic mixture of the same of 150 blends I’ve been had on before, But the flavors sounded awesome and what a weird combo. Thing is though, I can’t put my finger on it, but it smells exactly like another Sutliff aro I’ve had. The flavor is however interesting. A mild Sutliff crossover aromatic English similar to many others but I do get an Earl Grey flavor with some lemon cake. Unfortunate experience. ISTM a cob sitter would have to have a very short shank and stem. Cob just isn't heavy enough to sit upright with much weight at all to imbalance it.

Yeah it’s definitely full on bergamot, vanilla is mild, and a zesty, tangy lemon pound cake flavor all the way over a plain bed of mild Sutliff English. Interesting, nearly headache-inducing, and likely to be one I’m glad I didn’t buy another pouch of! urbino The other main Dagner poker sits just fine and the larger cobs are all plenty heavy enough to be sitters. This one is a QC issue where the stem is supposed to stick up nearly vertically but instead it’s barely at a bend. You win some, you lose some, but you live to fight another day!

It was supposed to be more of a cherrywood?

It’s also a Jayson Dagner designed poker of tiny proportions and I do really like it, just wish it sat. It’s got thin walls which is different for a change but it’s smoking great and it’s really feather light. For as tiny as it is, it holds a good 30 minute smoke. Flawless shank-to-bowl; absolutely no gap around the shank or leftover glue.

Good Morning! It's 51° here with a clear, starry sky and moonlight. This afternoon I'm not going anywhere and will take care of some household chores. Getting the smoking day started with a bowl of HH Pure VA Flake in the Savinelli Venere 128 smooth billiard and there's a fresh travel mugga coffee tucked underneath my jacket. Have a good one everybody!

Good Morning Again! It's 61° with a clear sky and bright sunshine out here on the deck right now, but the forecast is for a very warm afternoon. I'm smoking another bowl of HH Pure VA Flake and this time in the Stanwell 29 smooth billiard. The neighborhood is quiet, so I'm going to sip my leftover coffee, look at the colorful trees, and read.

Cooler weather means more Latakia for me. I've been nudging in the season with Rattray's Red Rapparee but am ready for some bigger guns. Lancer Slices, Blakeney's Best and GLP Gaslight are up for this week.

I think I'm done working for the day. Good progress made. And a big brush pile do deal with. I'm smoking a bowl of Riverboat Gambler in the Tuesday cob.

Good Late Afternoon! Out on the deck with a bowl of HH Pure VA Flake in the MM Missouri Pride cob and a glass of cold water. Beautiful weather! It was a nice day here, too! Spent the day in the garden. Got so busy, I forgot to stop for lunch. Getting hungry. Wife's got the pasta in the water.

After-dinner smoke time. Haunted Bookshop in the MM Pony Express with longer stem. Gotta get cleaned up and head out this evening. I'd rather be at home in front of the TV, watching hockey.

^ Looks like it was made to load using the scoop method that my uncle Earl employed in his tobacco pouch, none of his pipes looked that fine though.

McClelland's Virginia Woods from 2000, cracked the tin at the Las Vegas International Pipe Show, and it was a hit for those that partook...fortunately they did not smoke it all. In a Rinaldo Sahara YYY Bent bulldog? Beautifully smoking ppipe.

Good Morning! It's 56° here with a cloudy sky and warm enough not to need the workshop heater. I have one of the doors wide open to the fresh air. The laundry's all done, so this afternoon I have to make a supermarket run and then head over to the pet supply store. Starting the smoking day with a bowl of HH Pure VA Flake in the Don Carlos smooth bent Two Note and there's a fresh travel mugga coffee tucked underneath my jacket. Have a good one everybody!
