When I first started, I did the same. Sneezed like crazy, eyes watered like I hit my finger with a hammer... not so much anymore unless I get a grab a fine ground, dry one and take it in to my brain.

YEARS ago, when I'd come to visit Maryland, you could buy snuff cans and plug chew right on the shelf in Food Lion. That's since gone away. I used to buy snuff cans, because I liked the labels. I had a blue Navy one, a peach one, and several other I can't remember. I tried the stuff, but I always sneezed like a crazy man, and it would burn my sinuses. Should I assume the OTC snuff is subpar, and there's better stuff out there that isn't like snorting black pepper? The scotch snuffs you’re taking about aren’t bad. Many folks use them exclusively. They generally are a very fine grind, and very dry, thus, they can be difficult to take. I suppose it takes a little bit of practice. Other snuffs are very gentle, some burn, some feel like you’ve cut open a ghost pepper and shoved it up your nose. But to answer your other question, there are a wide variety of snuffs out there besides the drug store snuffs. Check out mr snuff dot com. You might be mind blown.

Tempted to open this box of Bruton. People on other sites have nick named it "Brutal." It makes it that much more enticing...

I thought Bruton was pretty good ... better than Garrett's, IMHO.
Dental and Superior were also good Scotches but I don't use that style much anymore.

As Matt mentioned above, they are quite fine/dry and smokey ... a little pinch will do it.

For pure brutality, try Fubar Bohica.... a minuscule amount is a punch in the nostrils of hot pepper.

It wasnt nearly as bad as I anticipated. It was rather pleasant actually. I'll fill a vial for myself, one to send to Chuckus and put the rest in a jar for later use. Thanks to some of my McChrystal's, I've learned not to sniff to hard and melt my brain. Some of those are really fine and dry.

I have been taking Makla’s Neffa green... definite barnyard scent, but a decent amount of vitamin N... the menthol is in the background.

I have the “photo box” Indian Snuff’s, and haven’t messed with them much, the ones I have have tasted flowery.

Wait...what? Peanut butter?!? It's from Toque ... pretty good stuff! Charlie had posted that he was snuffing their Toast and Marmalade and I thought it might pair well.
