I was wondering the same and havent had much luck finding info. The only thing that I could really find is the flavoring comes from oils and it's incredibly moist? I could be wrong. Wouldnt be the first time. Pretty much! With Schmalzlers, not necessarily the flavor but the moisture comes from an oil or paraffin or even ghee which is clarified butter. They are incredibly easy to take in large quantities.

Spent the first part of today with a green snuff ... Rosinski Morgentau. This stuff is really good ... what a pleasant change of pace!

Spent the first part of today with a green snuff ... Rosinski Morgentau. This stuff is really good ... what a pleasant change of pace! Have you tried the oldies yet? If so what did you think? I did! The Bruton has lost all the original smokiness and has an "Old Paris" kind of vibe going ... like an old, dusty book. (not a bad thing) There was a discussion on another forum recently about how Dark Fired loses it's smoky attributes over the years and this was a great example. I've jarred it up and will certainly use the base as a blender or even ignite it with some fresh DFK. Many thanks again ... much appreciated!!

I was thinking the same about the Brutons. It's like burying your nose in a book in the library that hasnt been opened in decades. I like that.

Enjoying some Old Mill Butternut Toast with coffee … great combo! Also, it's been about 3 weeks in the jar for that last batch and I'll be taking it into phase #2 soon.

I've missed my snuff but I'm waiting to make sure my sinuses are clear. It's been over a week since I've had any.

When I'm a bit stuffy, I reach for the mentholated snuffs and it helps clear me up.
Hope you're "up to snuff" soon!

Here's a cool poem posted by Roderick (from Toque) on another site:
THE BLESSINGS OF SNUFF
JOHN FRISSELL CRELLIN, Esq., Deemster in the Isle of Man, who died 21st June 1816, was a connoisseur in snuff, and quite at a loss if by accident he happened to be unprovided with his favourite. Once, when on the bench at Castletown, he had forgotten his box, on perceiving which, he despatched a message for it, and before its arrival wrote the following lines.
You boast of the pleasures that friendship bestows, And tell me it drives away care, That it softens our sorrows, assuages our woes, And blunts e'en the stings of despair. I too have a friend, that can always impart Enjoyments and comforts enough, For, obtained, is the fondest desire of my heart, When blest with abundance of snuff.
If heaven, in its wisdom, sends sources of grief, I'm thankful the stock is no more; I first take a pinch, and my heart finds relief, Then I sneeze, and my troubles are o'er.
'Tis thus I with fortitude brave every storm, When the winds of affliction blow rough; Let the fugitive evil assume any form, So it be not a famine of snuff.
In search after happiness men are perplexed, But few can the goddess obtain; Some place her in this world, and some in the next, But the wisest conjectures are vain.
They may tell you the nymph loves the glitter of gold, And dwells with the miser--such stuff! No;; my pocket has always been found her stronghold, And her palace, a box of good snuff.
The lawyer so graye, ere he opens his plea, In obscurity finds it is hid; But the bright gloss of knowledge illumines his face, As he gives the three taps on the lid.
E'en the judge on the bench hears the sound with delight, Be his countenance ever so gruff; He bids the stern sentence of judgment take flight, And mercy inhales with the snuff.
Why then should poor mortals ever despair, Or suffer from any rebuff, When to free themselves quickly from all sorts of ease, The infallible remedy's snuff?

Charlie sent me a really nice package of snuffs and included two containers of El Toro Chimo. I've emailed him and described this stuff as "unsweetened baker's chocolate mixed with baking soda and pure nicotine! Pretty good with coffee: Thanks trailboss!

Hitting the El Chimo here at work after lunch ... ZING!! Also, it's coming up on two months for the last batch I jarred already. Dang, the time flies! I reckon it's time to open it up and get to Phase II this week.

Just had my first snuff in about 20 years. It was Root Beer from Darin. I did it right, and didn't sneeze! This stuff is great. Another rabbit hole, I suspect. Now, any US retailers for it?

Negative. Mrsnuff.com especially when they run a free shipping special (which I'm waiting for).

Yeh it's pretty rough. In the 8ish months I've been using snuff they've had free shipping twice. It certainly justifies a large order. I'm running low on a few of my favorites

Glad you liked it and I've still got half a jar left if you run out! Tomorrow begins Phase II for my next snuff creations which will be split into two or three versions including one mentholated.

Wilson's of Sharrow Royal George today.
I figure if the pine tree pollen is going to give me a fit, I might as well smell some flowers.

So, my first impressions of my first snuff order...
High Dry Toast: good stuff! Bready. Is this Burley based?
Thor's Hammer: whoa... It's like 1792 flake for your nose.
Dholakia Rose Chocolate: I like this one. It stays with you for awhile.
SG Kendal Brown Scented: it's like a Lakeland party in your nose!
6 Photo Super Kailash: um... Wow. I have no words. Smells like India in a can. Didn't realize it was "medicated". I like it!
