Glad it worked for you too ... I do it almost every time now.
It also helps really fine snuffs stick together a bit more and become easier to take.
Snuff on!

New batch of snuff went into the press this weekend. I used Dominican Viso which was a nice thick, dark brown cigar leaf. After shredding by hand, it was placed into the crockpot on low and the casing added:
After cooking, the batch is well stirred and placed into a press box:
The box is put in to a 6-ton press for three days, re-tightening daily:
Once the pressing stage is done I'll mill this into about 400 micron, add the final scenting components and jar tightly for a few months. Finally, it will be taken from the jar, toasted, re-milled and sieved to about 200 micron and then rehydrated.
It's a labor of love!

That is a lot of work involved!
But when you equate it to a food recipe, the effort one puts in, quite often reaps a pretty good reward.

Just got these Menthol Crystals delivered yesterday ... really nice clean, crisp scent.
I added just a pinch to some basic Burley base and it changes everything.

Quick update from the weekend ... the pressed bar is out, sliced and jarred:
Side note ... I dried and smoked some of the scraps and it's pretty good ... lots of cedar and earth. Seems like mixing in a little Virginia would be all it would take to make a good smoke.

Ive never had snuff per se. I dipped Copenhagen for years, but ive never sniffed tobacco. Is it satisfying?

Very satisfying ... many folks have used snuff to quit the cig's.
Personally, I work in an environment that is "Tobacco Free" and grabbing a smoke is nearly impossible. However, the snuff stays in my pocket or drawer and there are endless scents and strengths to choose from.

Yes, exactly! I think the menthol Gawith snuff trailboss sent me is going to clear me sinuses, but it doesn't. It's cloggy. Fun, but cloggy. Yes, that's a word. No it isn't. Damn. I'll get you for this Charlie

Speaking of menthol, I blended up a little something special today. Cinnamon & clove scented Mapacho (Rustica) with Aged Brightleaf Virginia. Just a touch of menthol gave it a refreshing "minty" kick. CloverMint, I believe, shall be it's name.

I've asked trailboss to recommend me a non-menthol snuff for beginners, and asked where to get some. What would you say? Neither P&C nor SP sells snuff.

www.marscigars.com/snuff-non-tobacco.aspxThat is why you cannot order Snuff in the USA over the net.... I wish I had a list of their inventory, and a friend that lived near Lemoyne Pa. that is coming to the west coast pipe show.

mrsnuff.com in England will send a $5 tin of snuff to the States for $10 shipping, but I don't know if there are any more hidden fees in there somewhere. Hmm. I may just stick to pipes, or check out a local tobaccanist next time I'm there and see if they sell snuff. Stupid government.

One party passed the PACT law in 2010 as they controlled both houses of congress from 2009-2011, signed into law by the president.

Did someone mention snuff?
Cobguy is aware of my penchant for F&T Old Paris!
Toque's Spanish Gem is a favorite and I just cracked a 25g of their Quit. That one's going quickly.
I enjoy several WoS SPs. Number 2 and Gold are current winners for me.
Any of the Kendall Browns (except F&T) or the darker Vikings get some play as change-ups, or if my nose is dry.
Occasionally I hit the hard stuff: Bruton's Scotch Snuff.
Chocolate Eclair was an awesome snuff, though from an obscure snuff mill. Ha, ha.
It's cool seeing your process, Cobguy.

Bumping this thread I've been using the CloveMint almost daily and am very happy with the way it turned out. terrapinflyer received a sample of this one ... perhaps he'll stop by to add his review! simnettpratt ... did you find / try any other snuffs yet?

Cobguy: trailboss decided to go nuts and send me a TON of snuff.
A massive tin, a regular tin, and a bullet sniffer of Toque Original. A cool small plastic bottle of Indian something 6 snuff. Tin of Kendall Brown. Tin of Tom Buck. Plastic tub of Makla Africaine Bentchikou. Tin of Toque Whiskey and Honey. Plastic box of Gletscher Prise. The original plastic box of Gawith Original, where I learned not to do a pea sized snort of menthol snuff.
I also have the snuff of yours and the other snuff peteguy sent me. Actually, he may have sent me some of the above; I know he sent more than yours, and I'm not sure any more what came from where.
My favorite is the Kendall Brown, and yours. Then the Tom Buck. The Toque is fun with the bullet sniffer, once I figured out how to use it. The Indian something Six tastes like chocolate, and is cool (the label says Chocolicious!) The Gletscher is OK, and I got used to the burn of the Gawith (do less!).
Haven't tried the Whiskey and Honey, and unfortunately the Makla is all melted and is now a solid. I dont know why snuff is fun, I mean, it doesn't do anything, but is fun. Pretty sure I have a lifetime supply. Congratulations on yours being tied with the Kendall Brown; I keep it in a tobacco tin, and scoop a bit with my Czech tool spoon, and put it on the web of my hand between my thumb and forefinger.
