Being new to the sniffing game, I'm curious. Do you always use both nostrils? Is one sufficient or would there be some drop-off in the experience? Again, just curious.

There's nothing set in stone but I use both nostrils every time. Occasionally, I'll put one scent in the left and another in the right.

I don't know about any nicotine hit or buzz or whatever. I've never smoked cigarettes, and don't notice any drug type effects from my pipe. I don't really know what nicotine does for cig smokers. I do know however, if chain smoking buddy John comes over, and he runs out of Camels but doesn't want to run to the store, he can inhale my pipe tobacco as hard as he can and it doesn't do anything. Don't remember the blend. Now I'd just give him some Toque Whiskey and Honey (it's supposed to be strong), or see if I could unload the Makla on him, but I haven't seen him in years. I don't know why I like snuff. Part of it is being seen as weird or eccentric; folks generally have never seen anyone snuffing and that makes me happy. Boomerangs have the same effect, but those things are awesome all by themselves. Why is snuff fun when I'm alone? I don't know. Because it feels like I'm sneaking drugs but I'm not? Yeah, I don't know. Still looking for an opportunity to snort in front of a cop to see what happens. Probably my luck he'll plant a kilo of coke on me and get a commendation.

Never thought about trying that....use as much bohica in one nostril as you do Thor's hammer in the other d Darin...I triple dog dare you.

David, isn't it funny how a centuries-old tradition that escalated all the way to being a high-society, luxury item eventually fell into an eccentric niche group? Wikipedia has an interesting comment on what happened here in the states: Despite two centuries of pipe smoking and snuff use, by the mid-1850s, North Americans rejected European practices in general—especially British practices—that entailed snuff boxes and formality. By the late 1700s, taking snuff nasally had fallen out of fashion in the United States. Instead, dry snuff users would use a twig as a brush to "dip" the snuff, which then involved placing the snuff inside the cheek. This is seen as a precursor to dipping tobacco (moist snuff) use which is still very much popular today. In addition, orally chewing tobacco or dipping snuff was more convenient for Americans trekking westward in their wagons. Makes sense ... then along comes the convenience and addiction of cigs and it's game over! Triple Dog Dare??!!?? It can't be turned down ... hold on a minute .... No Hammer in the house right now so I grabbed Taxi Red and snuffed it up the right followed with an equal portion of Bohica in the left. Lots of dripping with this combo and my sinuses are completely cleared!! LOL

Well, being British, I'm still of course with the 18th century nobles. Chewing tobacco has never had an appeal, the spit-snot is just nasty. I knew a guy that one time went to sneak a drink of his uncle's Coke. It wasn't Coke. The little tins from purely British sounding firms like Wilson's of Sharrow appeal to me. I'd really like to get one of those screw-top coin snuff boxes Charlie posted. The shilling one's less than twenty dollars. I like the way snuffing dust off your hand makes people go, 'What the hell, dude??', because they're thinking something illegal, much the same as several folks have thought when I walk around the block smoking my pipe. Just another way to tell people: I'm not average. I'm not mainstream. Unique to the point of eccentricity even

I am really enjoying this. Do you carry the tins around or do you use something else? Darin you seem to be the big dog on the block, What's your opinion? Finally opened McChrystal's an think menthol will be low on my list. Won't give up on it. Will try other scent menthols.

There are many fancy containers out there but I'm more of a repurposing kind of guy. Working in a lab gives me access to a lot of different containers as you will soon see in the mail. Lol Online options are endless and small containers can be found in art supply stores too. The coin containers that trailboss posted recently are pretty cool though! What are your favorite snuffs so far?

Still waiting for them all to come in, It's killing me. Almost out. I posted on the other forum asking if any body had some tins they don't want. No luck. Will just have to wait it out.
So far Kendall Brown an McCrystal's.

Here's my favorite of the coin boxes trailboss linked. One shilling, and I can get it in my birth year, 1964, and cheap at $19 plus $6 for shipping to me here in Dallas. 23mm x 15mm, so as deep as my 10g tins from Toque, but smaller diameter. I figure it would hold 5, maybe 6 grams, which would be plenty, and has a screw top, so I'd feel comfy carrying it in a pocket.

I'm going to come out of hiding to say that Old Paris is what you should put in your nose.
That said, I am loading my nose with WoS Lemon Grove. And their Best SP. It makes the Old Paris that much better later.

Great to see you posting, my friend! ps ... Old Paris is awesome and I can imagine an SP would go well together.

[Giggle] Old Paris is really good, but you know I only said it because you know I have pounds of it.
I read this group occasionally but haven't been posting. If any of you good people are curious about putting scented tobacco in your nose, send me a message.

WITH THE RETURN OF THE JEDI SNUFF MASTER, HE AND HIS PADAWAN SEARCH THE GALAXY FOR THE EVER ELUSIVE DUST NEEDED TO SAVE THE TOBACCO FEDERATION AND BRING PEACE TO AN INCREASINGLY HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT. WILL THEY BE ABLE TO SALVAGE THIS DUST? CAN THEY BRING IT TO THE PEOPLE IN TIME? LOL ... yeah, I've been watching Clone Wars.

I might like Santo Domingo. I have tried to get it, but I keep getting that aluminum oxide snuff. Wet, basic tobacco probably shouldn't be put up in aluminum cans. Oh, well, I like most of the F&T stuff.

You won't regret it, this is the one I ordered from COINTRANSFORMATIONS. Arrived here in NC in less than a week and is very well made. The owner John was great to deal with as well. Here is the one I got.

When at work I would sometimes take a finger dab or two between cheek and gum and let disolve slowly to impart flavor and nic. Has anyone else here used it in this way?

A pinch of something coarse and moist works but it's kinda messy. In India, some snuffs are commonly used as a dentrifice. Can you imagine brushing your teeth with snuff??

Decipherable, in part, when trading an "F/f" for a "T/t"... Wait, I'm not a Dental Hygienist but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express and believe he said, "Tried it, it sucks"! While a pinch of fine or course cut snuff between cheek and gum may not be for everyone, I find it satisfies nicely as an alternative method of flavor & nic delivery. At work, I find it to be a stealthy way to enjoy without offending anyone's sensibilities within eyeshot.
