Eldorado with John Wayne and Robert Mitchum. I have no idea how many times I seen this movie but it’s one I always enjoy. AJ Ah! One of my favorites.

Finally watched Bridge of Spies last night. Very good. Hanks did his normal fine job, but it was Mark Rylance that made that movie click. I was unfamiliar with him until I saw him in Wolf Hall (highly recommended). Rylance is a very fine actor. That is an excellent story and you are so right about Rylance. Tapping my foot waiting for that Hillary Mantel to finish the damn sequel book so the next series can be filmed. Hoping Rylance lives long enough to finish the Cromwell story which does end well for old Tom. Having spent time in the old DDR, the movie reminded me just how much fun that place was not.

My 2 kids and 2 of my neices picked the Red Box movie today. They're all teens. So I was worried. They chose Venom starring Tom Hardy. I am a fan of Hardy's work. Therefore, I thought I had gotten lucky with the pick. Sadly I was mistaken. The movie sucked. Really bad. Everything one can hate about a Marvel movie was in Venom. I'm disappointed in Mr. Hardy. I hope he makes better choices in the future. His talent is too good for this garbage. If you didn't like Venom, you really won't like Aquaman. I am sure you're right. The trailer is enough to tell me Aquaman is not for me. Tom Hardy is the only reason I gave Venom my time. FWIW the teens liked Venom ok. Not crazy about it. But they liked it.

Old Man and The Gun, Ehh, only time Inliked Robert Redford was in Butch Cassidy, Sissy Spacek is always good in my book, movie is about a man who cant stop robbing banks. I guess it was worth 6$ Amazon Streaming, good entertainment without leaving the house. Nothing to brag about.

Streamed First Man, here's my wife's take on it. It was nice to see the history and effort put in it but it wasn't a very good movie, here's my take on it, when they landed on the moon, Neil said his piece, didn't see them plant The AMERICAN FLAG, that's all I'll say.!

Yesterday I borrowed Solo Star Wars from the library. Glad I didn't put any money into this film. Yes, it had colorful characters, lots of chase scenes, good explosions, etc. But I just couldn't get over all the betrayals. Everyone was betraying everyone else that they encountered.
Basically, civilization was taking a nosedive into barbarism, and I didn't want to join the party.

Last of the Mohicans. Possibly the worst movie I have seen in over a decade. Even with a cast of actors that I like, and an amazing book, the director managed to put shat on celluloid for 2 and a half hours. Everybody runs, at full sprint, for the entire movie. Uphill, downhill, with 50 pound guns on their backs, full speed through the woods looking like Usane Bolt. It's the outback, yet everyone is clean through the entire movie. Clean clothes, clean teeth, ladies in full makeup inside. Plot? Nah... A painfully awful movie that made me want to do this...

Climax (2019). A French arthouse dance and drug film that really goes for 'drugs are a nightmare sensorial experience' and succeeds. The three part structure is rigid, the dance scenes are great, the acting feels surprisingly realistic, the music is acid house gold, and the camara work is exciting. A realistic horror film that is all together too much.

The War, with Kevin Costner, dirt poor kids, their dad broke down by Viet War, poor kids playing in rural Mississippi in junkyard, building s fort, it’s just a good movie.

Introduced my 21 year old son to Humphrey Bogart when he was home on break. We watched The Maltese Falcon one night. I hadn't seen it in years and have seen it more than a few times, but I still get goose bumps when Sam Spade answers "The, ah...stuff that dreams are made of"
The next night he asked me if I wanted to watch Treasure of the Sierra Madre. I love that movie too and it had been a while since I had seen it. Man, Walter Huston was absolutely brilliant in that movie.

...watched Bohemian Rhapsody on Vudu this afternoon...trying to make my mind-up about it...maybe a 7 out of 10...Overall a very good movie and the actors were first rate...there's just something that holds me back in giving it a higher rating...

Just watched John Wick for about the 10,000th time. I love this movie. It's action movies boiled down to their barest essence. The plot isn't heavy: basically, dude kills John's dog, so John kills EVERYONE.
The club scene alone is worth watching the movie. Throw in the fight scene at the house, at the church, and at the helipad, and the movie becomes a modern classic that should by all rights revolutionize modern action movies.
9.5/10.

Took my two older kids and a few of their friends to see "Glass" tonight.
I thought it was a good movie, but it got flaky 3/4 of the way through, which had me rolling my eyes. I also didn't see the first two movies of the series, which I may now decide to view.
Good acting, though.

"From Hell It Came" It's a nice little cheesy black and white monster movie from 1957. Plus, it has one of the stupidest monsters you'll see. A tree monster rises to seek revenge against the island locals who betrayed it. A group of American scientists try to save the islanders from a tree demon bent on destruction!
It has good production values for the period aside from the monster. I have a thing for monster and SciFi movies from the 30''s, 40's, 50's and 60's. Name one, and I probably have it.

I watched Stan and Ollie last night, one of the most enjoyable movies I've seen in a long time. The action is set in 1954 when the Boys did a tour of the British Isles in an effort to raise interest in funding a comeback film based on the story of Robin Hood. Production values are fine and the performances by Steven Coogan as Stan Laurel and by John C Reilly as Oliver Hardy are spectacular. This is less a celebration of their comic genius, though there is plenty of that, than it is a reflection of a complicated friendship. It is genial, gentle, and completely satisfying. The performances of Nina Arlanda as Laurel's Russian born wife, and Shirley Henderson as Hardy's wife are equally fine and sometimes venomously hilarious. Rufus Jone's portrayal of Bernard Delfont, the oily British promoter is a gem. 5 out of 5.

I finally got to watch Molly's Game last night. Wife and I both enjoyed it. It really isn't so much about poker as about a young woman trying to make her way and the abuses of our justice system by the prosecutors.

The Mudlark is a story set during the reign of Queen Victoria about a young boy that sneaks into Windsor Castle so he can see the Queen. Irene Dunne, Sir Alec Guinness, Finlay Currie, and Adam Ray do a fine job to make this heartwarming movie a classic. I enjoy watching this movie about twice a year.
