My VHS copy of Touch of Evil was showing wear, so got the 151 minute as Welles intended version on DVD. Fantastic. This is Orson's Masterpiece, imo.

I saw avengers end game at the weekend. Wasn't bad, but not as good as previous films in the series.
I'd give it 65%

I watched American Hangman last night. I had never heard of it but it caught my eye at Redbox last night. From the minute it started I was glued to my tv. Theres not a whole lot of action in the movie, but sometimes that's a good thing.
Although the ratings for the movie were pretty bad, I enjoyed it from start to finish.
6.5/10

The Act - a Hulu miniseries
Based on true events about a mother who convinced her child when she was young that she needed to be in a wheelchair, couldn't eat properly and needed a feeding tube and many other lies which she collected money for. The way things turned out is absolutely insane considering it really happened! If you've got Hulu, check it out.

Tonight: The Desert Fox (1951) and its sequel: The Desert Rats (1953). Great cast and Directors.

Tonight: The Desert Fox (1951) and its sequel: The Desert Rats (1953). Great cast and Directors. I know those two movies well. You are so right about the cast and Directors. No one does Rommel like James Mason. He is even better than the original! Richard Burton's Tammy Robertson is an excellent performance. Ditto Robert Newton. I saw both those movies as a kid long, long ago and have kept on enjoying them since. 20th Century Fox took a lot of criticism from the Brits, Aussies and Kiwis for glorifying Rommel in a movie. So, they made a sequel movie to make the whole story plain. I am glad they did.

Johnny Guitar (1954) - Joan Crawford, Sterling Hayden, Mercedes McCambridge,Ernest Borgnine, Ward Bond, John Carradine. Director: Nicholas Ray.
In garish Technicolor, the most bizzare Western committed to film. So many psychological pathologies, it could serve as introduction text in a college curriculum.
Must viewing if never seen and continually rewarding in repeated viewings.

Mostly Shweetie will watch something on her laptop, and I'll go do something else. Rarely watch a movie anymore. I guess I'm going next week to the theater to see John Wik III with my son-in-law and son. I really want to see The Highwaymen on Netflix, but don't want to pay for a membership. I know some on here are not Kevin Costner fans, but I am.

Fort Apache The Bronx - 1981/HBO film - Time has dated this one. Rather pedestrian script and Paul Newman did his best with it. Entertaining enough if you happen upon it, but the cliches grow tiresome and supporting cast mostly phone in their performances.

We watched Crazy Rich Asians yesterday and it was very entertaining. It probably won't ever be in a list of great cinema, but it was funny, touching, and it moved well. I thought it was very well acted. In addition, it showed a lot of a place that we rarely get to see an an interesting conflict of cultures.

American Honey on Netflix
Art house character study about a group of hard luck, wayward kids living on the road and selling magazine subscriptions to get by. Reminds me of a Harmony Korine film. Also lots of Herzog going on in there(which is cool with me haha). Horrible soundtrack(I wont say what the kids listen to haha).
The acting was inspired; The cinematography was incredible, and I found myself not only caring about the characters by the end, but feeling like I was on the road with them.
Best film I've seen in some time. Take my opinion with a grain of salt though. If you're more of a Marvel or Star Wars kinda guy, you may just get bored.

Entertaining enough if you happen upon it, but the cliches grow tiresome and supporting cast mostly phone in their performances. Newman did a credible job in this one. Tired, I am, of these dark tales of hopelessness in the decayed inner cities of America. Movies like this one reinforce just how miserable urban life has become for some less prosperous citizens and residents. We do not need to make more of these movies. How about some positive change stories in Detroit and Chicago? You know, like Charles Bronson in "Death Wish III".

Finally got to see The Highway Men on Netflix last night. Good movie. I really like how Bonnie and Clyde were actually not hardly shown, and not romanticized at all. Enteresting study of 2 old men past their prime and out of their comfort zone still getting it done. I liked it.

I am familiar with the story and the reputation of Frank Hamer.

My step-son was with us for a few days and introduced us to the show, The Orville. It's a space show, ala "Star Trek", but with some comedic twists.
It took me an episode or three to get into it but quickly came around and enjoyed the show.

I have seen that show. It has its moments of brilliance. Funny how the original Star Trek TV series set off an entire sub-genre of TV and movies, charted beneath "Comedy" and "Science Fiction".
