I recently borrowed X-Men Apocalypse from the library. I can't give an honest review. I REALLY HATE movies where the villain tries to destroy the whole world and remake it as he sees fit.

I confess that I am a fan of the John Wick and the Taken movies. Unfortunately, we have a bunch of gang bangers imitating them on innocent people. I have never had an urge to shoot anyone, and I am almost ready to out grow the films. So many good people being shot over my lifetime have taken the shine off. The rash of babys being shot is especially troubling. I believe that gun control means hitting your target, which should almost never be a human being.

Most original feeling action sequences since The Matrix.

I have tremendous respect for the work and training Reeves has put in learning real, world-class gunplay. I'm like that with Westerns. If an actor can't ride, I know it and often just turn it off. Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones were true horsemen off-camera, and it shows. Tom Selleck and Vigo Mortensen are also true riders in real life.

When Robert Devall cane to S Louisiana to make a movie, believe it was about a preacher, he stayed in Lafayette, a friend of mine is big in horses, trail rides, was asked if he could ride with them, he did and a little honky tank down the road had a rip roaring party for him. I could have gone, but that ain’t my thing any more, they said he was a very nice man. He is one of my favorite actors.

And yeah, Reeves definitely put in his time at the range.

Saw Pokémon detective Pikachu Ryan Reynolds at this point , can pretty much do no wrong. Best video game movie ever . 7/10 I saw it yesterday; I agree it's an ok film. I'm kind of disappointed they gave a wonderfully dressed Ken Watanabe so little to do.
P.S. I'm still partial to the 1st Resident Evil and Silent Hill films.

"And now for something completely different!" Hehe, you should watch the Rocky and Bullwinkle movie. Rene Russo and Robert DeNiro set out to prove just how much they really need the money and Jason Alexander is just happy to get the exposure.

I should think that Rene Russo would make an excellent "Natasha Fatale". She is a very good actor with the right edge for that role. No comment about the rest of the casting.

It wasn't her fault that the movie sucked. She was very good actually.

"The Trip to Bountiful". I had never seen this on it's original release, and I was touched by it's poignancy.

I saw this years ago, rooted for the old gal, it touched my heart in living away from your home place, I live on my home place and hope to die here. The tender moments between the young woman and Miss Page made me realize how women get the short end of the stick most of the time. I believe this writer wrote Tender Mercy’s, played by Robert Devall, another favorite of mine.

Excellent movie. Horton Foote? Indeed. Always liked his stuff. I met his cousin Shelby once. He was a frequent guest at our neighbors house in Houston. Seemed nice enough.

"Journey Into Fear", 1943. The Eric Ambler classic novel made into a movie by the Mercury Theater of the Air, aka Orson Wells and Company. Orson does a nice job as a Turkish police Inspector. Great lamb fur hat he wears except that it is a Kurdish fashion.
Joseph Cotton doing his usual routine of the well meaning guy outside his depth.

Orson and his hat: I forgot to mention Dolores del Rio is also in this one and she is as interesting as Orson said she was.

I've been on an Orson jag too. I watched Citizen Kane and concentrated on its entertainment value, irrespective of its art and was thoroughly entertained. I particularly enjoyed Ray Collins small but effective role. Good paychecks for him in the years on Mason, but he was an actor of more depth and talent then TV portrayed.

I just watched The Fountainhead for the first time and I never heard such bad dialog since I read Atlas Shrugged. Ray Collins was good, though. Parts of it were too over the top for a Mexican telenovela.

Parts of it were too over the top for a Mexican telenovela. The unrealistic dialogue is part of the movie and book's charm. Like reading Fantasy. Raymond Massey was a hoot in the movie! One of Patricia Neal's best roles.

Night and the City (1950). Just a wonderful film. Gene Tierney is off to the side as the only decent person in London and everyone else is either trying to get ahead or keep others down. Plot pacing could be slightly improved but really just a very good movie.

I think it was directed by the same person who made The Naked City (another great film using real wrestlers in movies).
