Chuck Connors, William Shatner, Buddy Ebsen, Paul Winfield?!?! How could this go wrong?! Oh boy! What a thing it is. I swore it was a parody at first but nope, its being as honest and serious as it could. I enjoyed it for its over the top characters and cheese factor. Was 'airplane' a parody of this?

It could be as I heard it was a parody of airplane disaster films in general. They might have seen the acting and thought that acting skills arent needed to make movie.

The movie "Airplane" is a parody of the 1957 movie "Zero Hour" with Dana Andrews. The plot is almost identical. Ted Stryker (Andrews) is a veteran WWII fighter pilot who has to take the controls of a commercial airliner, a DC6 in some scenes and a DC4 in others. He is haunted by his past. Sterling Hayden is the pilot on the radio at the airport tower trying to talk them down.

"The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance", 1962. Seen for the 400th time it seems like, what a masterpiece this movie is. The writing, the acting, the Directing. All perfect. Memorable. Alongside G. Bernard Shaw or William Shakespeare. Ford was about 70 and his principal actors were in their 50s, the supporting actors were old veterans. Vera Miles was just perfect. Pure craftsmanship through and through.

Very well stated. It is very close to perfect and rewards repeated viewings.

"The Tall Target", 1951.
This story takes place in February, 1861. It is a story built around a plot to assassinate president-elect Lincoln during his twelve-day inaugural train trip from Springfield, Missouri to Washington, D.C. Dick Powell plays police detective John Kennedy who is aware of the plot and meets indifference from his superiors when he tries to take action. Kennedy takes it on himself to try to foil the plot single-highhandedly and most of the story takes place on trains where Kennedy gets in tight situations in trying to unravel the conspiracy.
Dick Powell Adolphe Menjou Lief Erickson Will Geer
Regis Toomey
Ruby Dee Marshall Thompson
Well done and credible enough. There were countless plots to kill Lincoln before he could be sworn into office. This could have been one

Watched the original Oceans' 11 last week on Netflix. Not much of a film, but all the principals are now Icons, so interesting on that score.

I enjoyed Cesar Romero and he seemed to be enjoying the movie himself. It as a good story and fun at the time. The adults in my life back then enjoyed it enough to talk about it.

I never understood the appeal of Joey Bishop. He didn't even sing in that one.

The Irishman, no Denerio fan but it’s a history lesson of America, and very melancholy, too long though. Streamed it on Netflix.

And my wife wanted to know my I and my adult sons were wasting our time watching such a stupid movie... Twenty years ago I dated a gal who loved Monty Python. She was the only female I ever met who was a fan, let alone tolerated them. lol We married different people but are good friends to this day.

My wife and I had a pet Welshman that slept on the couch for the first couple of years that we were married. When we watched Python he would always laugh at the places where we didn't see the jokes. He was 19 and did the most fantastic body work on cars under the carport. Wouldn't mind adopting another one, they are interesting and docile most of the time.

How did he do with strangers?

Adams family 2019...
Nothing special. I would suggest you offer your children / grandchildren /your date an alternative. I'd give it 4/10.

For the most part. He was very entertaining for strangers, but they usually never came back. So, I take it you could understand him when he spoke? Usually. I couldn't understand anyone in my wife's family, but she could translate for me, so Welsh must be similar to Central Louisiana Cajun-speak. He actually spoke very well when he wanted to. He was very mischievous and had a very "different" sense of humor. He talked about how he had a mechanical and body shop in Wales when he was 16, and he built a reputation for quality work on Jaguars and Rolls Royces. We thought he was full of crap until my wife wrecked her car and he fixed it good as new in a week under a carport with one bag of stuff from the auto parts store. I don't know whatever happened to him. He married a young woman we knew just to stay in the country and she couldn't find him when she wanted to get married for real. I hope everything worked out for him as he had a lot going for himself. But things like flying to the US on a whim and staying on people's sofas make you wonder. As I recall, He told us one night that he was leaving the next morning but left around midnight. Do you know how many Welshmen are named Alan Davy? Most of them. This was in 1977.

100 Stars out of a possible 10, The best movie musical of all time, the best movie ever produced in Hollywood, it’s: Singin’ in the RainI have loved this movie for as long as I can remember and whenever it’s on no matter when I tune in I always watch it to the end. There is simply no better denouement than the reveal and humiliation of Lina Lamont when the three main male characters hoist the curtain rope in the middle of the reprise of the title song. It’s a magical movie moment, but for all the times I’ve seen it I’ve not noticed the background until today. 😂😂😂
