I guess if that's your biggest gripe you're a lucky man. I also see shared posts quite a bit but I don't have a problem with it. It's all one big community in my eyes.  One of my biggest gripes is when a dissatisfied member takes it to another forum spewing venom, but it is what it is. |

I see this all the time. Sometimes I get a bit annoyed by it, but then I realize it's just someone trying to get as much input as possible. If we had thousands of active members here, maybe people wouldn't need to do that.
I try not to sweat the small stuff.

How about the pics of the pipe babes? To me they all seem to be posed. I don't get the feeling these gals are actually a pipe smoker.

I like the pipe babes. And yes, they're posed, because capturing a casual smoking session is going to come across as visually non-compelling. It's much harder than it looks.

I think your comment is more funny than political. Frankly, I never got the Pipe Babe thing. That feature is all about the site owner's prurient interests than the wants of the members. It's good to be the king.

It is important to remember that when people post pics of a new pipe, they are (or at least, I am) often motivated by a desire to bring attention to a carver's work, particularly if it is an up and coming carver. New carvers are, in my experience, especially appreciative of any publicity light shone their way, since it helps them secure commissions. I have a couple of upcoming commissions and I do plan to post them at PM and here.

My biggest forum gripe is the over exaggerated wailing about the "disgusting", "vomit inducing", "appalling" taste of a coated pipe. Next to this is "I can´t taste any aroma at all from this pipe" in close competition with "the draw was so restricted, I barely could get some smoke out of this pipe".  Why is it that people go over the top with all those teeny weeny little things? A slight dab of stain inside the bowl? Throw the pipe away, it is useless now! I don´t get it, how can people make something so simple as pipe smoking so complicated? The constant wailing (in some other forum that I will not name) makes me want to splap them in the face!  Ok, rant over.....  |

I know I will be guilty of posting the same thing on multiple forums. The reasons are as follows: 1. I know I am likely to get lots of participation in a thread started on PM, some of which will come from friends not active on other fora. 2. I want to foster activity on some of the fora with more limited membership. 3. Like Peck, sometimes an artist is deserving of as much positive free publicity as they can get.
I say I will be "guilty", but I will not feel guilty. I also will not be too inclined to apologize for the "offense".
