good old-time oatmeal ,the kind you cook on the stove, with real butter and honey, and my second coffee. I remember my Pop used to say that the old team of mules he plowed with, back in the old days, would work all day with only oats as feed...anything less, and they'd come to a dead stop around noon.
Maybe ,after my oatmeal, I'll have enough "get up and go" to get the Christmas tree up!!

Still not much appetite. Maybe that is a blessing?

My brother makes pasta with oat flower. I don't know if it is 100% oat flower or 50/50 with wheat. It is really really good as long as you tell me ahead of time. I mean, if you are expecting pure semolina taste you might not like it, but if you let go of expectations, it is really good. Especially on a cold evening.

Bucatini in a cheese infused tomato sauce with fresh herbs and three kinds of ground meat. Hollow spaghetti. That sounds like heaven! I hope to make a meat ragu before too long. Beef, veal, lamb, maybe elk and pork in there. I was going to make it for gnocchi but who knows?

Well now it is time for a 16oz coffee made with the espresso machine and some frothed cream and wee bit sugar from Mexico the old one. Then some of those butter sugar cookies that they sell this time of year in the metal tins. The Christmas season brings us so many small joys from cordial cherries to crunchy butter cookies. I just need to find some good peppermint bark and Harry and David pears and fruit cake. Nothing better than a little piece of fruitcake and coffee. What can I say, I am sucker for Christmas treats even though I have to watch extra sugar and carbs. So worth it.

Once a week on average. Really good for the price, and relatively healthy. She's the one working and she stops on the way home and gets 2 family orders with the new Posole Verde, beans, rice, and slaw. 😎👌👍👍👹😈😈😈😈🤠

I get the Corsicana fruitcake every other year. They are expensive, but when you add up the ingredients you can see why they aren't overpriced.

Darn skippy I like fruitcake the wife detests the stuff, good more for me. Most of the time I get them after Christmas from folks who don't care for them or on clearance.

Stew going with tough cow meat, wild rice, kidney beans and lots of tarragon and big guajillo chili. Will throw in a can of mixed veggies at the end for color. Only making about four bowls perfect for two on cool night hearty meal. Wild rice holds up well with the extended cooking time required for dried beans just a handful of each is all that is needed with a pound of meat.

All of this talk about fruitcakes got me to remember that way back in the freezer is the English Plum Duff I made last year and froze most of. Thawed it and it is pretty good. I have a jar of Devonshire Cream in the cupboard. Plum Duff or Plum Pudding is something like American Fruitcake but not as sweet.
