Red banana with some fresh berries. Note red bananas take forever to ripen up. I have had this bunch for three weeks and just now are they almost ready to eat. So if you want them right away best to pick the soft ones better yet find a batch with half soft and half harder. I really am want a Pear and my mind travels back to a long abandoned homestead in a small canyon outside Caliente NV. In the canyon a spring flows from the face of the rocks and a delightful Pear tree grows there. www.onlyinyourstate.com/nevada/hidden-park-best-kept-secret-nv/Sounds like a scene from a Zane Grey story. Lovely. I have places like that in my mind that I revisit from time to time.

At a neighbor's house for Christmas Eve. Roast Turkey, Stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, raost carrots, roast string beans. Sweet potato pie for desert.
Just happens to be the same meal I will be enjoying on Christmas Day at my ex-wife's house. No complaints here.

I see you are roughing it, John..... I will light a candle for you. That is the extent Christmas for me. Not being a part of any other gatherings. It is not the food but the companionship which matters to me most. I enjoy seeing people a few times each year. Otherwise, I have very little contact with others except during Irrigation Season.

Christmas Dinner with chicken instead of turkey... Worked for me. There's two much eating in a turkey breast for just me and one small girl who doesn't eat much. A chicken was more than enough. Plenty left over for later or tomorrow.

I'm doing a duck on the Showtime rotisserie, a pork loin in the oven, and cornbread dressing, candied sweet potatoes and green beans on the top. I did the turnip and mustard greens last night. I will open up and slice a tin of the all-American cranberry sauce.

Plenty left over for later or tomorrow. A nice chicken is a real delight. Sometimes I can find a big capon in Taos. I used to love them on the rotisserie and may have to rig another for the Weber grill. Ron, a Duck is another treat and ditto the rotisserie. I also used to roast a goose on one. They all sound like great feeds and we are so truly blessed to enjoy these meals in a peaceful place.

It seems to cook well whilst retaining the juices so it's succulent and not dry at all.

How much of what liquid do you add, if any? Then on the cooker top, right?

I got to get one of those new style pressure cookers. I love a good moist chicken. This morning is a Orange Julius everything a growing boy needs in a glass.

But, like @psycholime noted, I'm using the electric one (pressure king pro) but stove top will do the same thing. 40 mins cooked the 2kg bird.

All of the DQs have dropped it. That is a shame. I used to really enjoy OJ during warm weather. My Dad introduced me to it when I a boy. He used to drink them when he was young growing up in Los And-gel-eeez. (That is the way they used to pronounce it up until the 1960s).

Since I was a guest for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day meals, no leftovers to enjoy.
So, I will be making Meat-a-balls today. Lamb and beef. The beef is finely ground range fed burger, ought to be a little gamey. I have a nice Italian made sauce and will cook up rigatoni made with chickpea (garbanzo) flour. Then there is some imported Reggiano Parmigana cheese for the top.
Life must have its compensations!

Me and my mom used to get them when I was about 10. There was a stand-alone Orange Julius across the freeway from our house. They had good hot dogs too. I was happy to see them at DQ, but then they dropped them. ☹️

I did not know DQ stopped. When in Española, I usually stop at DQ. Next time I will demand an explanation. Even though I usually get a strawberry milkshake.

All of the DQs have dropped it. I make my own 8oz Oj 8oz milk two whole eggs. 1/4 cup of sugar and a splash of vanilla. Throw all that in a blender with some ice. Yes i know these days folks say use ice cream because they are afraid of raw eggs. But this is the way i was born in L.A. Right now shaved prime rib samich with some spicy bread and butter pickles.

The meatballs came out just-a fine. There was a lot of garlic in there. Man, lamb and beef make nice meatballs. I am sorry that ground veal was not available but it is not sold here any more. The garbanzo flour rigatoni tastes very good but lacks the texture familiar with durum wheat pasta. Not complaining, just reporting.

Kroger has taken to hiding the veal in the frozen meat section away from the rest of the meat.

Picked up a 4 pck of filet mignon today at Costco...fixed 2 of them for dinner on a cast iron fry pan...surprised me that it was as good as on the grill and a lot less work..."baby" was howling for her share which, of course, she got one of the steaks...she was in heaven...so was I.
