Another Friday, another fabulous Indian lunch. Chili Chicken appetizer ( Chili Chicken), and house special curry (can't ever remember the name) with lamb. Today I brought a couple Carolina Reapers with me, and they added them to my dishes. It was fire-from-the-ears good. I am envious. The nearest Indian joint is 150 miles from here. Thinking about those electric hot-pot pressure cookers which are all the rage with Indian cooks now. It seems that Indian dishes can be prepared in a fraction of the normal time. Heap O'recipes in Wednesday's NY Times "Food" section for the electric pressure pot.

In a 150 radius, we have probably double the number of Indian restaurants as you have distance to your closest one.

Im in a fairly populated area but I'm still at least 50 mi from the nearest indian restaurant. There really arent that many indian places outside the bigger cities. Lotsa chinese and mexican food around but thats about the extent of the "foreign/ethnic" food. I have to drive an hour for middle eastern despite living 12 mi from the second largest community of middle eastern people in the state of michigan.

Authentic Indian cuisine in NC.....hahahahahahahaha. Iβll make my own, I have a number of curry powders. I need to make Rogan Josh, an excellent lamb dish that can be made in a pressure cooker.

We had homemade crawfish etoufee for supper when we rolled into Metairie. Then we had a fancy dessert cocktail and a lot of BS. Doing the tourist bit in NO tomorrow.

We have several Indian restaurants close to us. I had to change barber shops because they opened one next to my favorite barber. I honestly can't stand the smell.

Reminds me of the Indian owned motels I used to stay in. The office always had a powerful aroma. Fortunately, it agreed with me.

I love the smell walking past Indian restaurants, and Chinese restaurants too.

A ground Turkey Patty Melt with runny Brie cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion pepper relish on sourdough whole wheat toast.
Recovery will take some time.

Tosh......Turkey & Brie makes a superb mouth watering combination. During the holidays I like to make a Brie pie with sautΓ©ed shallots and red ripe tomatoes imported from Israel on the vine. Some of the best Iβve enjoyed in the past are grown in the desert ππππ

Might have to whip up Buttermilk biscuits. Have all this B-Milk on hand and it ain't getting anything but stronger!
The last thing a fat man needs are biscuits. OK, I will use Crisco and not butter for the dough and no butter, jam or gravy on top... Really, I promise...
I wanted to make cornbread with buttermilk but could not find cornmeal, just Masa Harina and that is ground too fine for C-Bread.

I have a big pot of every-bean soup going. Started by pressure cooking some smoked pork neck Bones in chicken broth with half an onion, stalk of celery, a carrot, bay leaves, pepper corns, and some thyme. Strained it after 45 mins. Then I sauteed half a pound of minced bacon until crisp, and added onion/celery/diced carrots. Added the broth back, the 7 cans of various beans (drained), and the meat I took off the bones. It's simmering now, reducing and getting nice and thick.

A few drops of sesame oil once plated.

It's simmering now, reducing and getting nice and thick. Now, that does sound good. Heading right over and bringing the biscuits with me BTW, they came out extra light owing to sifting the flour, twice. Normally, just whisk it. The sifter makes a difference. The Crisco worked out great, properly chilled for dicing. Lower cholesterol and fewer calories than the butter or lard I normally use. Will enjoy more of them with my beef and vegetable soup, which I still have a lot of.
