Come on Ted Eat some meat. LOL! James, I’d love to, but after yesterday’s infusion it would most likely not stay in my stomach!!

Dared the rain and drove down to Lafayette to Prejean's famous Cajun restaurant. I had seafood gumbo, catfish, alligator, oysters, shrimp, crabs, boudin balls, frog legs, creamy spiced corn, and French fries that I didn't have room for. For you Yankees, that's pronounced pray-johns. Sounds delicious, except for the boudin balls.....is that like mountain oysters? It's kind of like dirty rice, but instead of in a casing, it's rolled into a ball and deep fried.

Sounds good! I miss my grandmas pecan pies. My aunt has the recipe and normally brings me a few in the fall. The problem is... with these temperatures, it doesnt feel like fall.

Got hungry and the closest place was a GREAT Mexican restaurant. I had cheese enchiladas Ranchero with guacamole. A real surprise finding good Mexican food in Cajun country.

...early dinner at a Mexican restaurant on the San Francisco Bay... Your post reminded me of a great Mexican joint way back in the 1940s, 1950s, 1960s. I cannot remember the name. It was on Polk Street. They were famous for their "Chalupas", a fried cornmeal dumpling filled with meat and chili. They were good! Does that bring back any memories?

Celebrating my 67th birthday, I drove into town to have lunch at a nice place. It being October, German inspired dishes.
Goulash Zuppa,
Jaeger Schnitzel mit spaetzle, rotkohl, und sauerkraut, a nice Spatlesse Reisling, Tiramisu for desert.
Alles im guten alten stil!

Glad you had a great meal to celebrate......HAPPY BIRTHDAY and many more🎈🎉🎊🎈🎉🎊🎈🎉🎊 We are close in age, wish I lived closer to celebrate our birthdays together. The last three years I too celebrated my birthday by myself, and that’s with my entire family living nearby!

Belated happy birthday, toshtego. I had a 5 guys burger for lunch today. It was good, but not worth the money. I only went because I heard they had a good veggie burger that my wife might appreciate. 1 cheeseburger 1 veggie burger 1 regular fries 2 regular drinks £22.50 (just shy of $30) Never again.

It's a good burger but not THAT good. I'd have been happy with the McDonald's right beside it for less than half the price.

...like Travolta's character in "Pulp Fiction" said... "I don't know if it's worth five dollars but it's pretty f*****g good..."

We're kind of sold the illusion that everything is cheaper in America. That appears not to be the case.

It seems that on the coasts (West and East) the prices are higher. Middle America may be more reasonable, but I never go there, lol!

My stomach is settled enough so going to have a sausage egg and cheese of a light and fluffy biscuit. A cup of black tea and honey on the side.
