My yard is a mess again. Was going to try and get the leaves blown off but the yard is underwater so hopefully I can get them up tomorrow after they dry out a little.

I just found out that Frankie's passenger was the wife of his best friend who died of cancer 2 years ago Saturday. She asked him to take her for a motorcycle ride like her husband used to do. She has a fractured spine and will be in surgery tomorrow. Prayers for all Ron. That is some kind of bad luck. Hoping their surgeries are successful.

Over the last few weeks, two friends of mine, one from 1967-1968 while living in D.C. and one from 1969-1970 after returning from California, both contacted me by email to reminisce. They are unknown to each other yet both chose this moment to rekindle out friendship. I am so deeply touched I want to shed tears!!! These two guys were probably the best friends I ever knew.

Heading to San Antonio tomorrow to check out my nephews care and see if I can help getting the lawyers involved. My nephew is forgiving to a fault. I don't want him to be broke and sitting at home wishing he had fought for what is coming to him.

In an event like that, given the situation and extent of the injuries, a lawyer is a must. It's an event that is going to change the whole course of his life every single day.
I know you already know this, but he definitely needs to realize that as well.
I completely understand what what it's like to be too forgiving.

Got some coffee and Dutch Chocolate milk on the desk and put a pot roast in the crock pot for later. Go to the sawbones tomorrow for a physical, blood work and still healing leg. Yeah I am still dealing with that and it sucks. 54 in the swamp so the fake fireplace is going just to knock off the chill and it wont be on to much longer. Later on a good friend is stopping by and taking me to lunch. Shaping up to be a good day.

so, there is a crap storm over at a pipe group i belong to on Facebook. two friends, who are the co-founders of the group, have had a messy falling out behind the scenes and now it is spilling out into the group. the rest of us are being blindsided by it all. i've grabbed my lifesaver and am trying to ride out the storm. seems like if it isn't one thing it's another.
so, i think i will just sit here and try to figure out a match for FM Bayou....

Tosh...It is good that you still have friends from that era or your life...all mine are dead by now.
Ron...you are right on the money in this case...he can forgive them alot better with $$ in the bank to cover his future needs.
Sean...glad your leg is healing up, and hopefully you are getting better and better with each passing day.
Andre....enjoy your new surroundings and may joy and peace fill you and your family every day.
Lady M.....you are smart to stay out of the fray...it isn't your doings and staying out of it is the smart move.
The Patch is fortunate to have the members that we have....all pretty much supporting each other is why we have a great place to hang our hats.
Beautiful cool day here in central north Florida....looking forward to seeing Josh for a few minutes today, as he picks up his tobacco.

I don't want him to be broke and sitting at home wishing he had fought for what is coming to him. From what you wrote about this incident, it seems to me there was a severe disregard for the safety others. It is one thing to road race. It is another to pass over on a two lane road into oncoming traffic. BUT, to be to so self-involved as to not watch for on-coming traffic by focusing attention on the cars being passed, that is a new level of negligence. Frankie may loose his leg. He will certainly never be the same. He is due significant compensation possibly beyond the policy limits of the Corvette driver's insurance company. It should be determined if the Corvette club was sufficiently well organized to be subject to an additional claim. Clearly, says I, they had a duty as an organization to maintain safe driving practices and to intervene with those reckless members posing a hazard to other motorists before tragedy struck!!!! Claims should be pressed all the way to the max. Frankie needs help. Make it right for Frankie.

My old computer, a Dell Optiplex 330, has been running slower and slower over these past months. Now it locks up every few minutes and I wait while it catches its breath. Probably will fail one of these days. It is a toss up as to which will survive the other- machine or operator???

If I am not present for a while it may be because my computer finally went dark. So, please do not assume the worst.

things have quieted down, mostly, on Facebook. it's bad when it's two friends at odds, you are afraid to do or say anything for being accused of taking sides. it's just a personal misunderstanding, but emotions run high and at times run amok. So, still laying low for awhile, lol.

People, often myself included, need to relax and chill out. Hey, maybe they should smoke a pipe?

Well folks need to vent sometimes and it best to not let bother you and just accept that they are people and that's what people do.

You can lawyer up and in the end win. The health insurance company will want to be reimbursed, the lawyer will get his cut and you will get screwed over. What you don't want to do is go the mediation route were everyone knows one another and hacks a deal while you sit in a chair. Insurance and lawyers is a game and you are not invited.
