Need a new office chair again. Being a big guy sucks no mater what you pay the cheapo base on the underside of the seat always gives out. This chair is Serta and the pleather started coming off after about a year. Surprise the cylinder is still good. My wife has a Herman Miller Aeron at work and not just her but everyone hates them. Maybe I should go by the firewood place and just find a good stump to sit on. I have an Aeron chair at work, and I wouldn't give it up for anything. I love it. I'm 260, and it's as comfy as it gets. I like the wood stump idea. I have a three foot diameter Ponderosa Pine stump which I could use.

Blowing snow and the wind which propels it this morning.
One of the cats is upset about this and sits at the window crying. Apparently, he had plans for the day.

Yet another bracing, beautiful day in East Van! 🌞 Today, I will be walking up the Drive to the post office to pick up the package with the Kaywoodie Flame Grain and the Lator Handcrafted. This is all fine and good. However, this is the current state of my collection: (Upper shelf all Malagas along with 3 mixtures drying, everything else below) There’s not much room for two more pipes let alone the, oh, I don’t know, 40 pipes on their way or being restored. Next stage: custom built in racks for this space. Tetris: PAD Edition 2020

Nice collection...now you need more tobacco. You said a pipeful! However, and sadly, the possibility of cost effective cellaring in Canada approaches zero.

Turned hot and humid this afternoon. I just got home from picking up a load of plywood and I got too hot. Having to take a break. Getting too old for this....

It's freakin freezing in Ireland today. 2 degrees (Celsius) while we stood watching fireworks at the local football grounds. We're back inside with the wood stove on, burning stone peat. Only thing about burning peat in a stove is that you don't get the lovely smell.

This was 1972, so most homes were peat heated. There were still horse carts on the roads.

We bought some peat bricks at great expense from Canada and we tried it in the fireplace but it didn't really give us any peat smoke scent in the house. We are going to try them in the chimenia on the back porch. We have pinon incense from Santa Fe that works well.

I got a sneak attack from my youngest daughter. I got a knock on the door and she ran past me informing she was going out on a date. Got to shake the young man's hand and she shot out the door with him. She's still mad at me from the last time she went out with another guy. When he picked her up he stayed in the car and when he dropped her of he didn't walk her to the door and I let him know that is not how my daughter is to be treated so she never heard from him again. She gets mad at me but it's my job to ensure she is treated right.

Remind her that you are hardwired by evolution to protect her and she will have a daughter herself someday. And you know what goes on in a boys head.

Plumbing today, not my favorite. I had 1 leak in a shower valve that I could not get to stop for the life of me. I got aggravated, put a cap on it and called it a day. It's in an unused addition, so no, the people are not out of a shower tonight. Came home and had a terrible headache so me and Alice took a 2 hour nap. Woke up, ate cereal again and went to Walmart with the wife.
Good job Ken. When my oldest son started dating his girlfriend, I gave him a refresher course on how I raised him, what I expected of him, and proper dating etiquette. What he dis with that info is his choice, but if he didnt do it "right," I would expect the girls dad to kick him in the arse.

I have a date with my cellar after work today. Its time to sort and organize. It's also time to put away some stuff that I've been passing on and break out some new.
I think it's going to be more work doing that, than what I have in store for me at work today.

Great collection of pipes Alex! Speaking of pipes I happen to be the worlds worst or is it unlucky plumber often requiring multiple trips to a proper supply house. The more I fix the more it leaks. Disclaimer the hot water relief valve I repaired with Clover valve lapping compound and a pick set as well as making a o-ring with rubber stock and super glue is not leaking. For Ken the worthless piece of crap my daughter got screwed over by was not screened by me and their marriage did not last long, thanking God. I did screen her new boy friend and they are living together in Ogden Utah so far so good. At least this one can keep a job and as cold as it is Utah I might get that grandbaby yet. My daughter is freezing having never lived anywhere that it gets really cold so I just sent her some nice rabbit fur lined gloves and few thinsulate pairs. My ex boss is dropping off a proper ice scraper and checking to make sure she has the proper tires. Mike is good guy and she has his number just in case.

It’s still very lovely weather in East Van, but it’s getting very cold very fast. Tonight the city freezes. Soon it will be Winter in Vancouver.
Lear runs through my head thinking about the host of hungry and homeless, our addicts and addled:
(Fool goes in)
Lear:
Poor naked wretches, whereso'er you are, That bide the pelting of this pitiless storm, How shall your houseless heads and unfed sides, Your loop'd and window'd raggedness, defend you From seasons such as these?

I did not have a daughter but recall from my High School days taking a girl to a rock concert. Her dad and two older brothers sat me down in the living room and wanted a detailed account of what that night's activities would be, the schedule of events, my intentions. I remember being amused by the inquiry and not offended nor intimidated.

26 degrees (F) this morning and dark.
I might have to go back to bed shortly. Read for a while and snooze my way. That is the nice part of not working these day.

I volunteer at a local museum on Tuesdays. It’s getting quite slow since kids went back to school.
