We still have an independent auto parts store in Toad. "Zeke's". Zeke is retired but his son, Tracy, does an excellent job. He hires guys who know wrenching, know pain and know the difference. So, few mistakes on part orders. Lots of advice. Oh, and he has a reasonably competent machine shop in house.
I do not frequent the big box building supply stores in Santa Fe any more. Last time, I was in the electrical department looking for stuff and asked one of the clerks about something. He replied, "How would I know? I was a Plumber".
Then there was the time they called me to say the windows I ordered were in. So, I drove the 134 miles to their store only to be asked, "Windows? What windows?" I was deeply annoyed. Interestingly, the manager I dealt with then (2004) now works in Toad and he remembers me fondly.
I spent much of my youth in neighborhood auto parts stores looking for parts for old trucks and cars. I developed an appreciation of the knowledge and patience of those guys behind the counter.
I remember spending many hours looking through junkyards for needed parts. The junkyard guys were more helpful than the modern auto parts "attendendents".

Missing Marion Kirby/Anne Jeffries today after I heard someone called the "Hostess with the Mostess. Anyone born after 1955 don't worry about it.

I have been feeling my mortality lately. I ain't afraid of dieing, but getting hurt sucks. So on the drive this morning I was blasting BOC, "Don't Fear the Reaper". It was therapeutic. Follow that up with Shades of Grey . . . .

Followed it with Born to be Wild. Then Hocus Pocus, and Frankenstein. Locomotive Breath for a fine strong finish. Didn't get to Dust in the Wind.

Follow that up with Shades of Grey . . . . By the Monkees, Robert Earle Keane, Billy Joel, or someone else? Anyways, kind of in a Stahlhammer mood 😵😜👹😈🤖🦂🌋

Early in the marriage, the wife and I saw BOC on New years eve at the Cow Palace in SF, The Grateful Dead headlined the show...every member of BOC played the guitar on a few numbers...that was one hell of a show. A pretty musky smelling deadhead chick was hitting on me big time...the new missus was ready to open a can of whoop arse on her, still had a great time though.

I miss the days when Christmas wasn't really mentioned until Thanksgiving. It seems like they try to get the season started earlier every year.

I'm pretty sure that song and huge pupils go hand in hand.... for good reason.

Yeah it is even more to imagine everyone over 70 was at one time a acid head hippie or spun out on the good drugs. Codeine addicts now would have never survived the 60/70/80s. You see drugs must be taken in carful doses to work correctly together.

I was at a Moody Blues concert May 31st, 1996, the day Timothy Leary died. It was a sort of religious experience. People don't know what they don't know.

Heading out to pick up a new thickness planer. My poor old Delta gave up the ghost last night. Ran a lot of boards through it since 98. I hope I get as many years as the next one.

Had a great day visiting with Josh, who came down to my humble home, brought several samples and a tin to bolster my cellar. Always great to have a friend come down for a visit. Really made my day!!!

wow, been busy. hubby threw his back out a week ago, it was getting better and mildly reinjured it again on Tuesday. We are currently at Camp Dawson, he had to do photos this weekend. Next two weeks should be slow and quiet, lol. First weekend of December hubby and I have a trip planned to a lovely artisan village in Maryland for their Christmas event. We go on Friday because they have lovely luminarias along the paths and have camp fires scattered about that you can sit around while sipping hot cider. I always love seeing all that charming activity. Waiting on hubby right now, he's packing up his equipment and then we can get some dinner.

I forgot to tell you about our outdoor cat. Once it started getting cold we assumed he would go back under the house where he was staying when he first came to us. Evidently he is too big to fit in the hole, and he was curling up in our basement window. So, we decided we needed to build him a shelter, and we put it up against the house. It has an "L" shaped hallway that leads to the basement window and that is the entrance to the box that has straw in it. He seems to really like it, it's his own little den. Here is our pretty boy and his den....

I am not a cat person, but that is a fine looking Cat!
Sorry to hear that Margaret, in spite of myself my back is in great shape, but I know so many people that have issues and I know how badly it can affect you..I pray that he can rest his back and avoid any future issues from what can be agonizing.
