The guy that was my mentor on truck driving told me how picking up his keys off the floor caused him to throw his back out...it can happen easily, and proper lifting techniques can really prevent a lot of problems. There is so much about proper lifting that should be part of public education regardless of whatever vocation one pursues...it affects us all....you live long enough, you will have back issues...or so I am told.

wow, been busy. hubby threw his back out a week ago, it was getting better and mildly reinjured it again on Tuesday. We are currently at Camp Dawson, he had to do photos this weekend. Next two weeks should be slow and quiet, lol. First weekend of December hubby and I have a trip planned to a lovely artisan village in Maryland for their Christmas event. We go on Friday because they have lovely luminarias along the paths and have camp fires scattered about that you can sit around while sipping hot cider. I always love seeing all that charming activity. Waiting on hubby right now, he's packing up his equipment and then we can get some dinner. where in Maryland had festivities?

I picked up my new planer and it works like a dream. I was having fun working with some projects and Kim informed me the dryer quit. I checked it out and the motor was shot so back out and bought a new dryer. I can't complain about the old one. Bought it used 26 years ago and it survived being moved a few times and a few feet of water when my basement flooded 10 years ago. The only repair I ever had to do was replace the ignitor. It was a Whirlpool and I replaced it with a Whirlpool but I doubt I'll get as many years out of this one.

It is in Grantsville, it is called Christmas in the Village. Here is a link -- spruceforest.org/events.phpWe discovered it by accident a few years ago and hubby's drill schedule has kept us from going the last couple years so I'm really looking forward to going again this year!

Our big extension ladder came down on my foot today, it looks lovely. I'm pretty sure a bone on the top of my foot is broken or at least cracked. Swollen and bruised from my toes to my ankle. It happened around 900 and I still made it through the day.

Be careful of blood clots with a injury like that. Might be time to go visit the recliner bed and make up for lost time.

I would follow Sean's advice...get some rest, brother...and be careful tomorrow and not get it aggravated even worse than it is. Beautiful day here in central north Florida but going down to 45° tonight.

Didn't sleep well last night and I woke up with a backache. Hung around until noon and finally went out and removed 2 azaleas that are in the way of some new concrete. Couldn't get a shovel to bite, so I tried the chainsaw. Finally hooked a chain up to the truck and wrapped the other end around two 14 year old azalea trunks. Hemi'd the heck out of them! 😈😁🤠

But they are getting so thick in the limbs that the hedge trimmer isn't going to be able to trim them much longer. You should see the azaleas in our old neighborhood. A single bush could be 20 feet high and 30 feet wide. Really good dirt in that area. We planted some 1 gallon lingustrums along a fence and in 4 years they were 16 feet high. I doubt that there in any of that kind of dirt in New Mexico.

Nice Ronv69 working smart and not hard, well done! Hope your back is better! Looking at having to replace the oil pan gasket, and pump while I'm at it, in my 95 Ford. Got to put on the mechanic hat and get this done so I don't have to pay the ridiculous labor cost for this process as there is a space issue the way my truck was designed. Wish me luck, and any advice is appreciated. My need some help in the What are you wrenching on thread but lets see how it goes.

First funeral in my new place today. I just hope it doesn't rain. It's already cold enough.

Congrats on 41!
If I could choose 1 thing that I could forget how to do, it would be pulling and sanding sheetrock mud. Especially ceilings
It really does suck being good at it.

Dirt? We don't have dirt in New Mexico. Just rocks, sand and bottle caps. When we flew into Albuquerque in 77 we were amazed at all the different colors of dirt and lack of plants. The plateau of Albuquerque on up to Santa Fe is fairly arid compared to further north in the mountains. Vegetation is sparse with Cholla Cactus being one of the major plants. The valley I live in was once grass land but overgrazed by sheep 100 years ago. With climate change, the most common vegetation cover now is sagebrush.

60 degrees with very high thin cloud cover.
Tomorrow the forecast is for 10 to 20 inches of snow. This seems unlikely.

Overgrazed by cattle even before they brought in hundreds of thousands of sheep. Nothing but bedrock and gravel in most places. Creosote bush, cacti, and candelaria are the only plants except for the high campground and the river campground have oaks. The rivers are lined with river cane in many places. I bet it was beautiful when the first Europeans saw it.
