Never heard of "River Cane" until you mentioned. I did not know a type of Bamboo grew in this country. The things we learn fiddling with pipes!

I call them reeds but it all depends on where you raised. Growing up I learned many Spanish names for stuff like roadrunners and cactus and what not. Then when I took Spanish I found out I could not talk to anyone spoke Spanish. I am slowly learning Irish with Paddy being here and have almost mastered Cajun once I learned to talk backwards. I still have to look up some of that North East slang even though it is English. So yeah cane as in cane break and sugar cane. But I think all bamboo has knuckles or maybe I am just confused.

Probably. I know I am..... I assume you are right in bamboo having those "knuckle" joints.

Almost none of the plants in Big Bend are native to Texas. Same as the people.

just a "good dream" thought for Josh. Finding out who the real father is, have him "gifted" with a .38 caliber vasectomy comes to mind?!

We had a family friend die this morning. I haven't seen him in years. He was actually my brother's good high school friend. He's was 41, and died of renal failure from alcohol. Having survived the demon alcohol, this is just absolutely tragic. He was really good guy, big heart, would give you the shirt off his back.

Sorry to hear that Jason. The best thing I ever did was stop drinking. Oh I have a full bar and on occasion I will tip a glass but I still have the same 12pack from last year and bourbon has been open for two years and only 1/3 gone. But I was lucky my wife saved me from myself with her love and giving me a family to take care of.

I'm surprised no one had to make that call for me, and that according to my blood work, I'm healthy. It always makes me say "thank you for this new life."

My BIL is about to enter the last stage from his self inflicted issues. The hospice is saying he will be in a coma before Monday. My wife is shopping for urns. Very depressing around here. He has a good heart and bad judgment.

I just got off the phone with a lawyer. I will be having a meeting at their office Friday. What a F#@*NG pain in the arse. Why is arse better than a$$? Back really started hurting yesterday morning at the oncologists office with the wife, and by the time we got home from the hospice I couldn't stand up straight. Didn't sleep much last night even with the tramadol and the muscle relaxer.

Lawyers are a pain, but worth it in the long run. My dad went through the whole process because of an accident a year or so ago.

When I needed it bad and found it did nothing, my health care provider tried to get me "the good stuff" but the suits at the insurance company felt they knew more and denied it. I hope you feel better soon.

A regular tipple is enjoyed here and I know when to put the cork back in the jug.

On certain occasions my warden allows me to partake in festivities. With Christmas coming I will be allowed Irish Cream during the holidays for my coffee every morning. So Ron is right the woman deserves Saint status.

Hope you get some relief, Ron...get some decent meds and that will help with the pain.

I remember a time when I couldn't imagine a time that I wouldn't have a drink and now I can't believe nearly 12 not drinking that I did that to myself.

As I looked through my jars today I realized I've been smoking the same old stuff for quite a while. It doesnt really make sense considering I have 20+ jars that I'm currently going through. I've grown bored of what I'm smoking. Great blends, just burnt out on them, so it's time to rotate stock and switch it up. I'll bag up the stuff in seperate bags and stick it all in a jar, then out comes the new. I think this time I'm going to keep it a bit more simple and open 3-4 tins that I've been wanting to try for over a year and leave it at that. Well, except for my standard bulks... Rimboche SJ, York Town, Voodoo Queen, 515-RC and Picayune.
I also need to clean and cycle through some pipes, many are getting no action and I no longer see the point in keeping them out.
I've had some snuff open for over a year that is now as dry as flour, it's time to dump it and open new too.
Hell, maybe it's just my OCD... or I forgot to take my meds this morning.
Ramble, ramble, ramble... have a good day all. Hahaha

Happens all the time. I have some very nice pipes but prefer to smoke relics in need of a loving hand. No shiny pipes for me they must be kept for another day or was it a decade. It also seems I have settled in a habit of only smoking three to four blends. That and the fact I liked buying 8oz tins and my decreased consumption of tobacco as a whole the tins last a very long time. But not to fear if I live long enough I will work my way through the cellar. Then there are the bulk blends purchased by the lb and stored in quart mason jars with the labels long gone. And lastly every morning I cant remember if I took my insulin or not. They say the mind is the first thing to go but mine is already lost.

The problem is, if I open new tins and happen to like them, I'll end up buying more.
My "nice" pipes dont get smoked as often as my cheap ones either.
Now I'm excited to get home and pull some stuff out

Went to the foot doctor and picked up my annual new pair of shoes, and I got deck/boat shoes this time, lots more stylish, if you can get past the person using the walker that is wearing them. I hate being seen using a walker.
