One has to look a little harder to find good in the world but the journey is worth it. So many amazing things when one takes the road less traveled and stops along the way to smell the roses. The gift of life is a amazing thing the smallest details.

34 degrees, was awakened around 5 by farmers getting equipment ready for cane cutting party, they started yesterday, usually takes them 2 days for 81 acres, could do it faster but wait for trucks to get it at the mill. Going to Walgreens this morning for flu shot, was gonna go yesterday but they were busy as all get out, Lady told me first thing in the morning it’s calm. Beautiful weather other than it’s cold.. as the full cane truck take off , Buddy has been raceing them, he’s winning now as usually he races trucks going 50 to 60 mph, He’s so happy, he waits for the full cane truck and off he goes.😂 I'm just glad to not be driving in Louisiana for the next couple of weeks. 😜 Cane trucks driving 20mph on the highway, sugar sap and cane bits coating my truck like asphalt. My mom and grandmother used to tell stories about chopping cane and cooking down the syrup. My mom had to lead the mule around in circles for the cane press all day. Every year she would buy me a piece of cake to chew on while she told me the stories again. One year I planted my piece, and when it came up she got mad and made me dig it up.

Its 36 on the lake and momma did not turn on the fireplace so it is nippy in the fifth wheel. I have good fresh ground coffee at the desk that is piping hot with cream and wee bit of sugar. I let my cup sit with hot water while the coffee made as I do not like cold cups. The little Christmas tree is glowing on the table and of course I pressed the Woodstock to hear the Snoopy tune. A few more things are supposed to get here today so I can finish up my daughters dried peppers, spices and hot sauce care box and get it shipped off to Utah. It seems spicy things are a oddity there and in most conversations the question is asked what do you use. Picked up some day old bread for the ducks yesterday but I have not seen them stirring. Mr tree squirrel stopped by and pigged down on shelled peanuts I put out for him/her. I miss my old crane that used to hang out back I believe it passed last winter. Then we have the smaller birds they get a handful of feed tossed out everyday as well. So the critters are fed and I have coffee it looks like the start of good day.

Slept from 11:30-12:30, then layed there listening to music on YouTube till 5:30, got one hours sleep before another nightmare woke me up. I really do not enjoy life anymore. We have never ending death, destruction, corruption, starvation, slavery, torture, debt, depression, crime, disease, and Captain Black Grape. ..something is wrong here. If this is the best that the incompetent, jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully can do, I am not impressed. Yeah, I am treading on thin ice here, but will seek forgiveness this time. You seriously need help. Until you get it, no slack from this quarter. A higher percentage of the population is living well than ever before, but only the bad news is news. Which is why you should probably quit watching it.

Not really feeling the season at all this year. Back pain, the expense of the new used truck, and the death of the BIL has taken all the fun out of it. Company Christmas party next Saturday, friend's 60th BD party Friday, and Christmas with my niece and the local family the next weekend after that should brighten things up.

Waiting for meds and shot, I was the only one there atWalgreens, sat down pharmacist opened her stall, old guy eases up to counter, I say hey Pops I was here before you, he says who you calling Pops, Pop, we both laugh, young lady says you want a shot, I tell her I want the GOD ALMIGHTY SHOT, she laughs and says I got it. Going out I grab some chocolate covered cherries and turtles, candy for the wife, payment for a good breakfast. Cane trucks linking up to be loaded, Buddy raceing them.

I grew up on the local sugar, Imperial Pure Cane Sugar grown in Sugarland, of course. I have no idea where it comes from now since the cane fields are covered by homes and shopping centers.

I seldom used sugar and rarely buy anything which has much in it.
I had no idea Sugarland Texas was connected to sugarcane. I thought it was a metaphorical name for a vast housing development.

When I was a kid it was fields of cane as far as you could see. When you got past the cane, it was rice as far as you could see. Harris County was an agricultural powerhouse back then. As were the surrounding counties. The only thing that grows around here anymore is concrete.

Lots of sugar comes from beets as well from places like Idaho and Minnesota. CSR was the worlds largest and a funny thing they also sell concrete under the name of Rinker. Years ago it was just Consolidated Sugar Refineries.

Yeah, Sean...it looks bleak out there in the world...glad my wife and I got together in our later years...she has one son whom I would be proud to claim my own...he is a self made man in this world of greed and pestilence...then there are people like Josh who works their butt off to provide for his children and give them a life filled with his love for them. Something I don't see all that often as I go out into the world around me. While I look at the news on the internet, and it is true that if it bleeds it leads...that is what they put in the news...they get the bait clicks and we get indigestion reading about it. I would like to think there is better in life out there, but sometimes I wonder if man isn't racing to see how fast he can extinguish life around him. I sit on my porch and try to avoid all that crap out there.

When I get out of the house and deal with actual individuals I have a good feeling about people. Once they get out of their cars, that is.

I have enjoyed Agave syrup and still use sorghum on occasion.

+10 degrees this morning. About 53 in the house. I did not have time to warm the place last night when I returned from the town of Toad. So, the house cooled off overnight. Trying to get it up to the mid 60s.

Mexico has very strict laws about sugar vs corn syrup and what not as does Europe.

49° here today with a high of 56° in central north Florida...wrapped up in my electric blanket sitting on my porch enjoying a bowl of favorite tobacco in a straight grained bent Dublin...sunny and bright but too darn cold...the blanket is doing its' duty. Small "baby" is still on the bed after releasing her nights worth of pee on the pee rug she uses. She hates to go outside and loves to be on the bed with a sweet smile on her face...how could you not love a beautiful creature like her.

I have enjoyed Agave syrup and still use sorghum on occasion. Sorghum on buttered flake bisquits, scrambled eggs, sausage patties, yummy.

Yeah, Sean...I got confused as to who was saying what a miserable life they had....but you are right, life can and is a beautiful thing when you can stop and look at the goodness around you...Wife has a little placard over the kitchen sink that says..." Happiness is often found right where you planted it" While we don't have that much in the way of material things, we have peace and joy in our small home with just the things that give us that peace and joy...and her name is MissElli. This is a picture of her.

Got the results from my MRI today and all 4 muscle groups are torn in my left shoulder from fall #32. So I have to go see a specialist next week. Been a month and now I know why it has been hurting.

I first bought it for my wife, but she never used it so we tried it. I like it in ice tea. Sugar in the Raw and such are gimmicks. Half the processing and 3x the price.

For .99 I can a whole pound of Mexican Turbinado/Sugar in the Raw at the where else .99 store. Now tonight I have SITR packets from Chicka Filet where my wife and her friend had lunch. Never turn down those free packets. I have blue, pink, yellow. stevia, honey, stevia in the raw, regular sugar all packets. Of course I also buy the stuff but my sweetener basket is full. Just don't be super greedy all at once and nobody cares.

Splenda can be some real nasty sh!t. My wifes friend broke out in boils all over her body from it. Read a story on the web about a woman who started to become paralyzed by it, quit it, regained all functions. This is going to be another frigging worthless night of my life. Millions of people are suffering in the cold weather right now, holes in their roofs allowing snow to come inside, children all through Appalachian areas that are going to bed hungry and shivering. Do we take care of the other members of society who are in dire circumstances? NO, but we spend 57 billion dropping bombs on innocent people on the other side of the planet each year. This is not a political issue, it's a humanitarian issue. If you take a child from Ethiopia and drop it in the arms of someone in the room near you, are they going to treat that human with empathy and provide food for it, or drop it in the nearest chair and say that it's not their problem? Earth: The Insane Asylum of the Universe-nowhere else could things be more screwed up.
