The safest, best tasting artificial sweetener is the only one banned. Cyclamate.

69 was likely the best year of my life, as I was 13, music was the best ever, hormones were exploding, I did a lot of fishing, rode in muscle cars, if I could have just been born in a different city and not been brainwashed by the Catholic Church. ..lol

I dated strippers, drove race cars and boats, toured Mexico, graduated high school, expanded my mind, and fished too. If I could do it again, I would.

Got the results from my MRI today and all 4 muscle groups are torn in my left shoulder from fall #32. So I have to go see a specialist next week. Been a month and now I know why it has been hurting. sorry to hear this, Marty. You're obviously hurting.

38 in swamp lands. Wondering what to today. Yesterday I kept busy installing the vent trim, cleaning the stove, washing dishes and installing new gaskets on the toilet. Ordered some new ear foams for my Grado headphones, purchased all three kinds. Buying stuff from China can be fun you never know when you are going to get it or how good it is going to be. Also got some new underwear coming from Adidas on a cyber Monday deal. I hope they don't make butt look fat it is so hard staying sexy at my age. The ninja dog stuck her head out briefly and retracted to her home made blanket and pillow cave. A light steam is coming of the lake as the fish jump. Mr squirrel has already grabbed the pistachios I put out for him. You never see the red pistachios anymore for some reason. Somebody needs to tell Marty the population in Ethiopia is up to 113 million so somebody must be getting enough to eat. 22 trillion has been spent on poverty here in the US in the last fifty years but as some of have learned throwing money at problem does not always solve it. Or you cant fix stupid and lazy. If you have a hole in your roof where the snow comes in go find some free scrap and patch the damn thing. People have built homes with discarded pallets. But I digress.

43 degs winds calm big big fog, no noises , field cut, super quiet this morning. Got flu shot yesterday, spent day watching farmer work the field, canceled 2 appointments, dental and regular checkup because flu is widespread here, Oldest Son thinks I’m crazy for doing this, I don’t. Buddy scratching at the door, he doesn’t like the fog. Checking the news, we need a good news clip, tired of the crap. Hope everybody is gearing for a decent Christmas.

Slept from 11:30-12:30, then layed there listening to music on YouTube till 5:30, got one hours sleep before another nightmare woke me up. I really do not enjoy life anymore. We have never ending death, destruction, corruption, starvation, slavery, torture, debt, depression, crime, disease, and Captain Black Grape. ..something is wrong here. If this is the best that the incompetent, jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully can do, I am not impressed. Yeah, I am treading on thin ice here, but will seek forgiveness this time. I don't watch the news or keep up with most things. We do not have journalists anymore, we have people trying to make a name for themselves and get big bucks. Only pestilence, apocalypse and evil make headlines and generate revenue, so that is what they pump out. There is good in the world, there is joy. Perhaps in small pockets around the world, but it is there. It can grow if each individual makes up their mind to reach out and try to brighten the lives of others right around them -- in their home, their community. One person can't change the world, but one person changing their community happening in communities all over the world, eventually could change the world. The question is, are we willing to be part of that change right where we are?

Words well spoken, Margaret. I posted this a week ago or so to family and friends... I am not the author. For the people grumbling about how bad it is in the USA, it is because they are blinded about reality. If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep ... you are richer than 75% of this world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace ... you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy. If you woke up this morning with more health than illness ... you are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week. If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation ... you are ahead of 500 million people in the world. If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death ... you are more blessed than three billion people in the world. If your parents are still alive and still married ... you are very rare, even in the United States. If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful ... you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not. If you can hold someone's hand, hug them or even touch them on the shoulder ... you are blessed because you can offer healing touch.

22 this morning. OVercast and dark, so I am guessing some form of precipitation is likely.
Shoveled out the wood stove yesterday so there is finally room to pack wood for better heat and longer heat. That helps!

Good Charle, like I told my Sons and Wife they’re ain’t no poor people in the USA anymore, don’t see no more old cars on farm road while smoking, wife says bingo players who buy groceries with EBT Card have more than enough to play Bingo every night, she can go once a month, when tv shows the poor people in their home, they have flat screen TVs, nice refrigerator, decent clothes and very nice tennis shoes, again there ain’t no poor people in the USA.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. I do see your point, but I have also seen, and lived the poor life. As for those flat screens, when you cant find a CRT TV even in the thrift stores, and Wally World sells the flat screen for $100 even a poor person can afford one. Just sayin'

My first TV was a 17 inch black and white table model with rabbit ears.I think it had 5 channels. It's all we could afford at the time, but we were glad to have it.Later we got cable for 10 bucks a month. The cost of a TV these days can be cheap, but the cost of the provider not so much.

Been poor, Mother waited in line for commodities, they don’t do that anymore, had 2 shirts and 2 pairs of jeans to do the whole year, I think I started the faded jean fad. As far as the groceries, go to the grocery store and see the EBT Baskets and the non EBT baskets, big difference, man across from me never worked a day in his life had care nurses driving to his house till he died, I worked for Exxon and pay for care , they don’t drive to my house, kids went to college, I paid and it was very costly, don’t tell me about being poor, My mother had cancer, Dad worked 2 years with about a month in port on his shrimp boat and I sent every nickel I had to pay the medical debt. There ain’t no poor people in the USA, just the workers and the takers, more takers than workers.

Long day at work.
New job.
The person before me was incompetent.
Every program I look at ends up being a sh!t sandwich.
Only 12 years until retirement...

Maybe you are too young. It was banned in 69. I was born in 69. I was teaching school in 69...actually teaching...not like it is today, back then kids had a rifle hanging in the back window of his pickup and the police weren't all over him...didn't have school shootings, only fist fights and that was rare. Life sure has changed...glad I am old, wouldn't want to be young today. Sunny and cool here today...got up to high 60's, I think.

I assume you are being humorous. You want to see poverty, come to New Mexico. You want to see worn out old cars and trucks on the road, come to New Mexico. You want to see ragged children and hungry folks, come to New Mexico. Northern part of the state has double digit unemployment. Food charities are very busy this time of year trying to distribute groceries. I used to do that with the USDA Senior Citizen Commodity Program. I know how bad it is here becuase I have seen it up close.
