A good many folks from New York have moved here to Carolina. They really are nice folks. They're trying to get me to become a Yankees fan,but it hasn't worked so far. An interesting observation. Yankees move down South to get away from the weather and other Yankees but want those living in the South to adopt their Yankee ways. Why? Have you encountered wondrous experiences of calling in a tobacco order to Peretti in Boston? Do us all a favor, if you’ve lived in the South all of your life, eat grits with your eggs at breakfast, have a bowl of collards and dumplings for supper, and don't allow anyone to change you. AJ Dumplings in the collard greens!?? Heresy!

The gentleman I spoke with at Peretti's was very nice. No problem at all.

After a turkey sandwich with a glass of Rose wine for dinner. I’m drying out some Holiday Match to smoke in a Henry Straub 3/4 bent . Haven’t smoked a pipe in almost two weeks. Just finished some German Salami, which is similar to Genoa. Hope your Holiday was enjoyable. I started the day with two large bowls of Five Brothers. Right now it's Castello Sea Rock in an unfinished Sav Bent Pot. I was a little disappointed in this Sav as it had a plugged divot inside the chamber. The plug fell out. I had not noticed any flaw in smoking, so I kept at it. Over time it has filled in with cake. So, I am a happy camper with it. Getting more back into the swing of things. Xuan quit complaining about my smoking a few months ago. It just went away and I didn't even notice it right away. Today we've been married 33 years. We talked about a few things we planned to do... but never did. We both agreed we're happy. This woman picked up cutting the grass because I was not able. She's still doing it at seventy-two. We talk about getting someone to do it, but she keeps on doing it anyway. No major secrets or codes here, but the rules of Hush Hush still apply Congratulations, David.

Always looking out for others! What a guy, Wolfman . They do say that Newyorkers are the nicest people in the US. Outside of NYC, yes, absolutely.

Meet the newest edition to the forum, a little five month old cattle dog off a horse farm near Campbellsville, KY named Thor. He's been a dream so far. Little guy is doing great. Taking care of #1 and #2 in the backyard on day 2, already let me clip his nails and looking forward to lead training next week in the park after a trip to the vet to get him on the program. Pretty sweet.

thank you, but we are staying home, so it will definitely be relaxing! I find that spending quality time with my wife can be done anywhere. The location isn’t near as critical. Have a great weekend wherever you end up! Z thank you! we went out for breakfast and then across the street to walmart and ended up spending two hours there waiting for the rain to let up, lol. so now we are lounging and pretty well staying in for the rest of the weekend. i am hoping it cools off and doesn't rain this evening so we can sit out.

Dogs are wonderful. I wonder if they realize what a great deal they have? Of course, maybe that's why they're so devoted? The worst problem is that they don't live long enough.

It was a rough couple weeks after my sixteen year old blue cattle dog Zach had to be euthanized. I made my mistakes with him early; fortunately, he was such a great dog, took up the slack and turned into a real pro anyway. That's extremely rare. I'll be able to fast track this little guy primarily because I'm retired now and have the time whereas I had to do everything with Zach on the fly while I was still working. Nevertheless, there were a few times when Zach's little smiling face when I got home from work was the only thing which kept me from hanging myself in the back yard. This new little guy will benefit greatly from lessons learned with my past best buddy. Strange; however, in some manner I feel all of us are moving forward together.

Wow, I miss out on late morning and early afternoon and there's a mutiny. JK Thanks for the congrats everyone. Xuan, the Bully and I are seldom more than fifteen feet from each other, but we've stayed busy the last day and a half. @10furlongs Mark, what a great looking doggie. He looks like he's the type that will listen to what you say. It's wonderful news. antb I hope you're sleeping comfortably by now. Legend Lover Stanhill zambini and all our international and local friends. I hope you all have a blessed and wonderful weekend. Lady Margaret I hope you both have some good times with the place to yourselves. Wolfman I gave credit to JimInks on the D&R suggestions. I think you were involved in them, too. Appreciated. We've new chroniclers and some members posting a little more. I think it's time to re-it our code of conduct: Things here are Hush Hush, Definitely Down Low, on the QT, and Strictly Confidential

I had to have my dog put down a few years ago. He was only 7. He was with me through thick and thin. Fully devoted, unconditional love. Even after all the hard stuff I'd been through, and came out of unscathed, it was the worst day of my life. We have a new dog, but he'll never be the companion that Ponto was.

Thor did well this morning on his first walk in the park. I wasn't going to do it until next week but he has so much puppy energy I thought some needed to be burned off. My old blue Zach and I used to go the complete 3.1 mile trip around the park on a relatively daily basis, weather permitting. Zach always wanted to go no matter the weather. I was a 19D in the service, know water or snow wouldn't melt me so it would have to be a real frog strangler of a rain or near blizzard or icy conditions for us to take a pass. Six days a week was pretty much the norm. Daddy would take a break on Saturdays to mow and play ponies in the afternoon. Zach tolerated that - barely.
There's a quick cut across a field to shorten the trip to only a couple miles. Thor did great, just a couple little puppy hick ups on the lead and a lot more time for sniffing than normal; otherwise, a good maiden voyage for the little guy. He's sleeping now so mission accomplished.
House breaking has been pretty much effortless at this point. He's a pretty sharp little guy and wants to please for which cattle dogs are well known. A few jerky treats have made him responsive to his name already. He still has truck issues which are normal, stuff still coming out of both ends when we take off. I bought a little washable hammock for the rear crew cab in the F-150 so he can't hurt anything or fall out of the seat. I just toss it in the wash when we get home and reinstall. Great $35 investment.
Ohio Derby this afternoon with a field of twelve. 5-2 morning line favorite Inflammable looks pretty tough. He had a rough trip in the Kentucky Derby, not much chance. Toss that one and there are only a couple more which look promising. Lone Sailor, 3-1 second choice, looks interesting; however, I'll have to see the actual track odds before making any play prior to the race.
Enjoy the weekend y'all.

Having my first DGT today. I had half a pipe this afternoon, but broke for dinner and putting the girls to bed. Once the youngest goes to sleep I'll fire it up again.
Thing is, since I've had dinner, my mouth has been cleansed from the smoke taste, which will be undone once I start back up again. C'est la vie.

Well, sometimes one just wants to be alone and read a book, smoking a pipe. With me, that's pretty often.

I'm in IT, but I took up welding as a hobby, years ago, because my grandfather had been a master welder. He died, and I took all his torches, had them refurbished, and taught myself to weld with gas (after learning stick, and then learned MIG after gas). Sometimes I'd take a bowl of peanuts and burn them with the torch. They were delicious. I just remembered that. No idea why.

Today was a scorcher of a day (in Irish terms anyway). It was about 75 degrees. It's now 11:50pm and there's still some brightness on the horizon. I often forget how far north we are.
