+ 6 degrees this morning and a little chilly in the house. Sun shining on the snow with its thick icy crust. Highway is clear as the State Highway Department is good at keeping the road open. My road, not so. I depend upon The County Plow. They do not work on Sundays, so it will be a while before they get here. That is OK. I can manage. The County Plow prefers me to not scrape the road as I tend to pick up chunks of blacktop which adds to the County problems. I often thought the name: "The County Plow" would be a good name for a string band or C&W group.

Still cold here in Ireland too. Frost everywhere this morning, but we don't get much snow each year. Got none last year, which is about right. If we get one or two days a year that's about it.
Busy day today in the study - struggled to know where to take things this week. I'm looking forward to the new year when I can start a proper series.

Temperatures been up and down here in Northern California. Got real cold for a while - near freezing (some you are laughing at me I know). Then some heavy rains then temperatures went up a bit. Now starting back down. Looking forward to Christmas and having the family around. Cheers to all.

75 degs this morning, South winds 12 to 15, finished a Bayamo I cut in half yesterday, Bad weather for North of Louisiana then on to middle of the USA. Got my cane check, 30% less due to freeze, some farmers more North of me didn’t get anything, hope their crop insurance kicks in. I’m glad that we got a little something. Christmas will be lean, but happily our health is here, my Daughter and her family are going to Hawaii, Oldest Son will be hunting, all I want for Christmas is a box of cigars, might smoke one with Santa when he delivers.

I was out under the truck taking advantage of the warm weather to change the headlight bulbs, and I was half done when the front blew through. A lot of wind for a new minutes, then rain. I waited 30 minutes and got it finished. Let there be LIGHT! Huge difference. The stock lights were pitiful. Put in LEDs high and low.

This morning was 75 in the swamp and yesterday we broke a record set in 1925. I watched a sheet of rain come across the lake out of the south. This afternoon we are 45 with the wind out of the north. Every now and then I get to witness the wind direction change when two fronts collide. While some would scamper for shelter I prefer to sit in my chair and experience moment. Thanks God.

1820 hours and 6 degrees. Temp will drop way below zero tonight. I have the house buttoned up with the thermal draperies closed, blankets over the glass doors, wood stove stoked, Bourbon poured, cats fed, dog fed, field critters fed this morning, Hot water dripping from the kitchen faucet. We are holding on!

Finally got around to going through the cellar and organizing. I'm about 1/4 done. I still have 6 boxes of jars in a different closet cellar much?

6 huge totes like the black one in the 2nd picture, a few smaller ones, boxes of jars, and a drawer. 2 totes are nothing but tins

72° and a major thunderstorm is headed our way...tornado alert blares the weather radio! We are in for it now!
Nice accumulation of tobacco you have acquired, Josh...good to see a great looking cellar to which I've added a bit...neither of us are going to be without tobacco for the foreseeable future!

Thanks for the well wishes, Tosh (John)...storm is past us now...plenty of rain and now weather forecast to be in the 50's!
Beautiful lighter, Alex...congrats on your birthday...couldn't ask for a nicer gift.
Re-arranging one of the tubs of tobacco so as to get another 2 ½ pounds of tobacco to be added to the cellar.

Haven't been on much lately but have been busy with work and getting the woodshop put back together after ten years in storage. I had to take a break from cleaning up the equipment and make something so I started another ashtray. Just have to carve the notches in sand and stain and clearcoat. Here's what it looks like so far.

You're a Saint. that may be, but a poor one, still trying to figure out how we will pull this off. My brother is also in on this, so that will help.

Cold outside in the swamp showing 34 at midnight. Got the fake fireplace going as well as the electric ceramic heater in the bedroom. The ice chest on wheels stays pretty warm inside as long as we leave the electric heaters on. Flipped on the tank and water line heaters just in case we get a hard freeze in the morning. I enjoy this time of the year no mosquitos to deal with. Fog on the water and after the leaves fall you can see where the eagle nests are in the big trees. Momma dropped off our Toys for Tots donations today those Marines do good work. Our daughters hot sauce spice package looks like it will make to Utah by Friday. Shaping up to be a good Christmas season with seven days to go.
