There are very few gifts greater in life than the love of your spouse. Isn't that the truth. I kissed my bride goodbye today as she caught a flight to visit her sister that is dying, this is the first Christmas we have been apart since 1980...she is an incredible lady, and I wish every guy could be so blessed.

Woke up at 4 am, then 4:30am, tossed and turned, got up, wife said what time is it, told her, I said what time you want me to wake you, 7:30 she says. Go in kitchen turn coffe pot on, I told her just a big Gumbo this Christmas, you’ve cooked plenty enough for Thanksgiving. I knew I was pissng in the wind, the Gumbo shrimp and crab has also turned into pork roast, sweet potato casserole, spiral ham with honey glazed sauce, canniloi for my Italian Son in law, pecan pie, fried shrimp for the Granddaughter her favorite, and white beans got Grandson his favorite. I can’t get her out of the kitchen. I know I’m a lucky guy, damn I’m still on a diet!

Had a rough start to the day yesterday. Kim is not feeling well with a bad cold so I had to go out and finish the picking up the last items for dinner and slipped on some black ice and went down hard. Really feeling it this morning but still getting around. We had everyone over for the big dinner last night and had around 20 people over. Ate a lot of food and exchanged and opened gifts and a good time was had by all. Today we are doing nothing, plenty of leftovers will be the meal today. I might go out to the garage and work on some projects I didn't get done and create at least one one I need.
Have a safe and Merry Christmas everyone.
Sean, you are one good guy treating the kids to a little Christmas cheer, good on you.

A few inches of fresh snow overnight. Sun shining brightly on a white winter landscape. It could not be more beautiful. Sorry my camera is gone!!!
Brad, that sounds like quite a feed.
Hope all of you have a lovely day. Be safe on the road!!!!
If the highway clears some, as it likely will when the Sun reaches it, I will head 50 miles to Taos and a dinner with my Ex and friend.

Hope you Ken and Kim heal up fast. I suppose I should get the smoker going by 10 if I want to eat by two. Trying a new charcoal called BB Competition they look like little logs and are hollow in the middle. Made from Oak a Tejas style charcoal whatever the hell that means but the price was right 20 bones for 30lbs. Also have a quart Mason jar filled with mesquite chips for a little added smoke. Mason jars what cant you do with them? Do other states have BBQ charcoal named after them? I really like Stubbs charcoal but alas no were to be found it is supposed to be the same as Cowboy charcoal. All I know is I could make it whole year on two big bags of Stubbs vs buying Kingsford at the rate of six bags a year and it burned all the way down to fine white ash and held temp. Now the prime rib has been marinating for a while now in Date Balsamic vinegar, EVVO, Tobasco, Worcestershire, coffee, soy sauce with tarragon and steak Montreal spices. That's four lbs of pure unadulterated pure beef goodness with three ribs with the fat cap left on. The only sides will be baked potatoes and fresh bread with lots of butter. Butter also comes from cows and I don't care if they fart and cause global climate warming osmosis change nonsense. I am not buying carbon credits to offset my impact on nature by smoking meat.

Hope all are enjoying a wonderful day...can't believe it is gonna be 73° here today...on Christmas Day! Beautiful weather, beautiful day to think about what this day means for millions of people of faith. So sorry Josh got the flu when he needs to be with his children (all 642 of them).
Enjoy your loved ones!

Years ago, while living in Los Angeles, the California Air Resources Board proposed banning all charcoal and wood barbeques within the county. They closed down all the commercial pit barbecues in the 1980s leaving only the home owners/renters. Needless to say, it was not a popular move. I am for cows.

Duck is consumed, other dishes decimated. I should have taken a picture. It was the very essence of crispy perfection. Nap time!

Well the BB Charcoal is a good buy it is still going strong 6 1/2 hours later. Stuffed to gills with prime rib and the BBQ wrapped in foil sweet potato was the way to go. The wife and just got back from the local gas station with our fountain sodas. There is pie, Key Lime and Chocolate and two cans of real heavy whipped cream because there is not enough calories in pie. The ninja Chihuahua took a nap on me while we watched John Wick 3. I have everything I need a loving wife and a full belly all the rest is just a bonus. I wonder who won the wishbone snaps today as that is important. Today sure beats the time we went to IHOP one year.

Daughter and family just left, they are leaving for Hawaii in the morning for 8 days, her husband flies for FedEx their flight is free. They ate , boy did they eat, makes me feel good to see they enjoy wife’s cooking. Finally gave my Daughter my Moms Mother Of Pear Rosary my Dad had made in Mexico City for my Mom, told her you’re old enough to take care of it. Wife is fixing a plate lunch for our Son who has to go to an early surgery in the morning, not on him, he’s a surgery Tech. I’m beat, the older I get the more company wears me out. Gave Buddy a holiday plate, he gobbled it up. I’m full, and tired, Merry Christmas To All!

Under a fog warning this morning and it is pretty thick can barely see across the cove to the super bright security light about 500 feet away. Still enjoyed a Padron Cortico and a cup of mud. Speaking of mud I do believe the espresso machine needs a cleaning. Because I want to live longer I will wait until the wife wakes up to tackle that task. After we came back inside from the bulkhead the ninja dog went straight back to her bed even skipping her morning cheese. I am pretty sure she got enough to eat yesterday as we all did.

One more day off work. I called in, which I rarely do. My temp is below 101, so I'm hoping 1 more day in bed does it for me.
When this is all over, I'm going to need a chiropractor to straighten me back out. 48+ hours in bed is not good for me.

+10 degrees this morning, clear sky, sunshine, calm winds. Fresh snow from Christmas Eve. Beautiful winter landscape. All house systems nominal and four legged biotics healthy.
That is the good news. Today will be in preparation for major snow forecast for tomorrow.

Fog, damp temp in the fffties, Gray day, made coffee, repackaged some cigars I got the day before Christmas, chargeing the Ring battery on door, the 2 screws that hold it in bracket on btm, one turned but did not come out, pulled out and screw sleeve holding it in plastic had come undone.from body of the unit. Chargeing it now, gorilla glue coming my way. Gonna rest today, my wife laughed and said you’ve been resting since you retired. WOMEN!!

Just got back in from visiting my Aunt in West Texas (Brownwood area). She doesn’t care to have internet so I wanted to say a late happy holidays to everyone, and a get well those of you who’ve been dealing with any illness.
I was finally able to place a tobacco order due to some good holiday cheer. So, my Christmas will be opened tomorrow. Be well Brothers and Sisters!
