So back to the beach today in sligo. It's certainly cooled down a lot and apparently the Arctic regime is to reestablish itself next week so back to normal weather temperatures next week. I've had no time for my pipe but it's been nice to get away. I hope you get a good trip to Mexico, roadsdiverged . Here's today's picture. The stones were piled up when I got there, but made a good feature (if not a little clichéd) ... oh wow! that is so cool, and so beautiful. I need to get to Ireland *sigh* Everyone needs to see Ireland.

But no one can come close to Ginger Baker of Cream. He was the "man" on drums. 'Course Nicky Mason of Pink Floyd is no slouch either. Ginger Baker was a phenomenal drummer. My personal 2 favorites....Neil Pearl & John Bonham.....listen to their drum solo’s on YouTube. I’ve been told by many that Ringo Starr could not hold my ” STYX “! I never thought he was a great drummer....my opinion so please don’t jump all over me👍 Ginger Baker was a great drummer, but not as good as he thought he was. He is an excellent recording engineer and producer.

If you are into drums and/or drummers, Freddie Gruber was Neil Peart’s mentor, known as the “ Freddie Gruber Method”.

Ginger Baker’s best drum solo....I would DEFINITELY not name it the best drum solo ever!

It might be small, but there's 6 thousand years of history packed into it. I suppose you could fly over it in a plane and technically "see" all of it in 10 minutes.

To a technical person or a musician there are probably subtleties in drumming that I know nothing about, but there's one drum solo that inspired a generation of drummers. It might not be the most difficult or technically challenging, but it set the standard for a drum solo as music. Every time it was played on the rock stations 30 years later the station switchboards were flooded with people wanting to know what they were playing. Ron Bushy, drummer for Iron Butterfly. And we shouldn't forget one of the greatest drummers of all time (and he knew it), Buddy Rich. He probably invented the drum solo.

I use to be in a band and our rendition of “ IN A GADDA DA VIDDA “ was darn good. The original song tittle was suppose to be “ IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN “. Boy I sure miss those days👍
PS The Buddy Rich video you posted I haven’t seen in quite some time. He was phenomenal even as he got up there in years. Thanks for posting👍👍👍

Today is the two year anniversary of my father's passing. He was actually born on Friday the 13th which he claimed made it lucky for him throughout his life. It was a good life and relatively quick death which is the best I suppose any of us can expect. I don't think one ever gets over it; however, I'm at peace with it today which is also probably the best any of us on this side can ask.
Thor was a little champ his first time in the bathtub this morning. I installed a hand held sprayer in the hall bath specifically for that purpose. I loved my previous cattle dog Zach immensely; however, bath time with him was like wrestling a badger from day one so I'm pretty happy with the result. Thor received treats and a fresh beef ear.
Slow weekend in the horse racing world before Saratoga opens and the summer series of races for the colts begins. I do plan to support little Ellis Park located outside of Henderson here in Kentucky. The fields aren't the same quality as Churchill Downs or Keeneland but the people who work with the horses seven days a week still have to make a living even when there aren't any races at the feature tracks; consequently, donating to the cause doesn't bother me during the summer meet at the pea patch.
Have a good weekend y'all.

Have a good weekend y'all. Very sorry for your loss and may your Dad Rest In Peace for all Eternity. The number 13 and 3 are two of my luckiest numbers, I was born on the 3rd. For me I find I can NOT get over the loss of my Mom 3 years ago ( we were extremely close ) and the love of my life...” my soulmate “ passed away from cancer at a very young age on March 24th 1980. To this day I still think back of the best days/years of my life. I believe that’s why I chose the type of work I did, always on the run traveling, high risk job. Now as I’m getting older I realize what I was doing is running away from my past. I Pray there is a better place and I’m greated at the gates of Heaven when my time is up on Earth.

France beat England in soccer. I am not a soccer fan, but this must be the first time France has be the first time in history. Remember Crecy and Agincourt. My French ancestors are probably saying WTF?

Today I’ve been enjoying the comforts of my recliner, sipping my ever present sweet iced tea, listening to some old time mountain gospel music, and appreciating the goodness that comes from my pipes and tobacco. For lunch I had one of my favorite summer meals, a deviled ham sandwich with sliced home grown tomato, mayo on toasted Italian bread, and sweet decaf iced tea. Keeping it simple often has great rewards for old geezers like me. Life has taught me how to really live and enjoy it despite the miseries of my health issues.

Home from sligo. I had a great week, but it's come to an end, like all good things.
Back to porridge on Monday.
