Valerie, a neighbor, is asking for prayers tonight. She's going in for multiple spine injections tomorrow and she's scared. Later tonight Valerie will be in my Prayers. If it’s a radiologist that specializes in spine injections he/she will numb the spine prior to her spinal injections. Believe me, I know! If the Dr cares enough about causing unnecessary pain to the patient a fluoroscope should be used, this way the Dr can locate the area in question and inject the Meds much more accurately. Valerie needs to question the doctor that’s doing this procedure. She needs to lay still for a while after the procedure or she can get a severe headache. I’ve had 3 lumbar punctures ( known as a spinal tap ) in the past four years....one of them was done by a BUTCHER of a doctor. The other 2 I suffered with no pain, just a bit of pressure was all I felt. They are going to put her under for the procedure.

On a lighter note from Ronv69; I had boxing tickets for tonight but ended up having to work late and missed the fights. I caught the main event on TV and have to ask; how is it that both the US and Mexico can develop male and female champions but Argentina can only develop female champions? A question for the ages.

That's a killer missing the fights, especially for work. My day was rather peaceful, though Xuan had another lapse of memory today. So I sent her to bed and we'll be having the MD here soon. Earlier I had a perfect bowl of EGR. It normally starts out a little harsh and gets smooth by the middle. Smoked it in a Genod Paneled Author. The Author has been less than stellar as well. After this smoke it may be my main Burley pipe. Had some LBF, 4 coins in my GBD. It sat in a jar for a year. I finally tried it. Would rate at 4.5 if I had to. It was like someone spilled some BBQ Sauce on a hot charcoal. Right now, in a Brog Bent Pot, I am smoking Sutliff CD (Country Doctor Match) that had a few years on the tin when I got it. Love this blend. So, only 3 bowls, but I didn't have to chase flavor around and it's been a nice day. zambini, you would be the perfect guy to watch some fights with. I have multiple VR helmets

@cosmicbobo thanks, that's a great compliment. We have to make a major presentation on Monday but the project head decided to make conceptual changes based on new information. It set us back about four days but it was the right call. In any case I made a bunch of other people come in to work and now I'm everyone's "favorite". I'm sorry to hear about your wife, it must be tough, scary, and disconcerting. In any case, the main bout between Barbie Juarez and Tahari was pretty good I'm still miffed about losing my money and the opportunity to be there. Boxing is always better in person.

We started moving furniture in the bedroom today, getting ready for a new king size bed to replace the old queen. (sized bed, that didn't so right) Had to move a HUGE armoire and a few smaller pieces. Yesterday I had to re-hang a large Ikea cube - shelf that's been on the office wall for years. Pulled out the mollie bolts. I put it back with 6 large steel angle brackets and 40 big screws into the studs. At 67 years and 11 months, I am really getting too old for this crap. This work will continue as I am able for the foreseeable future. Karen fell over the vacuum cleaner cord trying to vacuum around the stack of stuff and is now taking a therapeutic bath. She's feeling her age too. Our son slept through all the excitement. sounds like a busy day! My dad was a builder and he kept going at it right up to when he died at 72. I honestly don't know how he did it. I supposed he was used to it... But still.

Best of luck to both Ron and David in their recent struggles.
The only thoroughbred graded stakes race run annually at little Ellis Park located between Evansville, IN and Henderson, KY is this afternoon. The track is located on the north side of the river; however, it's still in Kentucky as the edge of the north side of the river isn't always the boundary between Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois the closer one gets to the junction where the Ohio River meets the Mississippi River.
I lived upriver about a half hour in Owensboro for four years. The locals referred to Ellis Park as "the pea patch" because the infield was planted with them. The quality of racing wasn't on par with the commonwealth's signature tracks, Churchill Downs and Keeneland. There was no Internet at the time. That entire region was pretty sleepy in general but Ellis Park was one of the few places locally where a family could spend an entire day, perhaps meet a couple of stars and have more fun than a barrel full of monkeys on a C-note. Cash a few tickets and it was even better. Three time Kentucky Derby winner Calvin Borel is riding there today and I guarantee there'll be plenty of programs signed and pics taken.
That part of the commonwealth is also on CST which I loved. Being on the front end of any time zone is definitely better than on the back end like we are here on EST in the Louisville MSA.
Enjoy the Sunday y'all.

Thanks to all for the wishes. Xuan was doing much better today and decided to do something with pork sausage I told her not to. Thankfully she's sleeping. I'm in one of my "getting stronger" modes. It comes and goes, but I make use of it when it's here. @10furlongs Mark, I think I used to drop south at Evansville, was it on 41? to go to Owensboro. Used to stay at a place called Gabe's Inn, which was a round tower that he built for less than 2 million back then. He had a wonderful restaurant, one of the best in town. I got to meet and dine with all the bourbon execs, some of the finest people I ever met in my life. Big Ben Medley of Medley distillers was so tall at the time I think I came up to his ankles. First distillery I ever toured. Dad would drive us down there, but when I hit about 19 I drove to there and Louisville constantly. Mark again, how is you're hip doing? You're on the Chronicle List for prayer and nice thoughts (for those who don't, but we still value so much) zambini I needed you tonight! I watched Interstellar for the first time with my VR Helmet. When they were flying in between the ice surface and the ice clouds it was totally fantastic. Really starting to pay attention to the C&D Cellar for a Year philosophy. I bought We Three Kings last year, smoked it a few times, wondering WTH was up with it. Left it alone. Lit it up today. Got the nuances without the Virginia Tongue Scorch. peterd-Buffalo Spirit glad to see you pop in here. I don't read WAYS, as it's just too much, and miss a lot of other threads. I have said it before: I value your opinion on tobacco and other things very much. Ronv69 I am keeping on keeping on with prayers and thoughts for your situations. I messaged Legend Lover some thoughts... as always, overlong. I won't go into it, but LL has the ability an engineer friend of mine has: The ability to take all my BS and sum it up in a tenth of the words. Leaves me to say to myself, why didn't I think of that? LL, that is a super special quality. Ted, Pistol, everyone You guys keep up with my posts better than I can. You're all appreciated and in my heart I don't think antb comes in on Monday. If not, I'll catch him later, with Stanhill , et al

Chroniclers, Scroogy would probably kill me for posting this, but this is the one forum he doesn't read, so we're safe. Rules of it being Hush Hush, Definitely Down Low, on the QT, and Strictly Confidential do apply. I got to know #6 when he had just had a knee operation. He's had an issue with both his legs, mentioned to me recently. I really don't know anymore, but hope we can keep him in our thoughts and prayers along with Audrey (and family and friends). David Done!

You're on the Chronicle List for prayer and nice thoughts (for those who don't, but we still value so much) Thanks David. Yes, IN State Road 41 runs between Evansville, IN and Henderson, KY across the river. KY State Road 60 East takes you to Owensboro back on our side of the river. I think Gabe's is gone? Real icon that one; however, the last I heard a couple years ago was the city had given up on historic renovation due to level of asbestos content. Moonlite is the standard now for eats in Owensboro, perhaps the best mutton based BBQ in the country. Burgoo is top shelf as well. I think you can order that one on-line? It's been a lot of years; however, as far as I'm aware, that distillery is still going. There's also a new bridge from I-64. It's greatly improved from back in the day. When I used to drive from Louisville, the best route was to get off I-64 in Indiana, cross the river back into Kentucky at Hawesville on Indiana State Road 37/237 and take Kentucky State Road 60 West the rest of the way along the river into town. Man that road from I-64 back into Kentucky was a big time speed trap, Indiana revenuers received a lot of money from us over the years. They got me once even though I knew the risks. Whenever I have an MRI anyplace on my body, the level of arthritis is the first conversation. It's not RA, just standard osteopath so far. Using the famous WAG method, I probably backpacked a couple thousand miles (not an exaggeration) on these old bones, everything from the Appalachian Trail to Goblin Valley in the Red Rock Country. The bottom line is I did it to myself. It's undoubtedly a primary contributor to my previous spinal fusion which caused me to hang up the backpack and current hip problems but it was one hell of a good time. I've had three operations on my left shoulder since 1999. I did that to myself as well, baseball, Army, etc... Doc told me the next time I come in will be for replacement so I know the dance. My shoulder actually feels pretty good these days since I quit maxing out at the gym. It's not 100% but it doesn't have to be anymore and it's not like I don't have two. It's going to be the same process with my hip. Thor was neutered Tuesday so we didn't walk much last week and my hip felt much better this morning on our good walk. I love our 2-3 mile power walks but may have cut back on them a little as well. I can wear out his little butt with a tennis ball or Frisbee while I stand still. While I greatly appreciate sentiment and prayers, it's not time for that yet on my behalf. I'm just aging, learning to deal with a different set of circumstances and others need them more greatly than myself at present.

It's been so wet and cold here, I haven't had a pipe in almost a week.
I could go to the garage but I really can't be arsed (not autocorrected).
Maybe some day soon. Gotta try that today Dutch.
I thought the break might help my throat, but as yet, no joy. Wednesday week I should have some answers.

Paddy, this is going on with your throat for quite a while now. Maybe it’s best not to smoke a pipe until after you see the specialist. If you tell him you smoke a pipe, he’ll just say “ that’s the cause, stop smoking immediately “!

Thunderstorms here in north Fla. Thought we were through with them for a while...but no such luck. Just got finished talking with my buddy AJ. Good to get that old geezer goin. He mentioned his birth year and I found that I was 5 years older than him. Like others I am older than dirt and feel that way most of the time. Gettin ready to hit a bowl of Royal Yacht...yup, me and Monbla (Michael). For those that like it, it's wonderful. Smoking a Briar Spirit poker with a plateau rim. Have a good day, ya'll.
