I wanted to pick something I’ve never tried and is readily available. I, for one, appreciate that. Going to place my order next week when I get paid.

I used to smoke this on a regular basis back around 1999-2000. I then stopped smoking it as I found flakes I enjoyed better. In 2012 I cracked a 100 gram tin from 1997 and man was I floored. The tobacco had turned jet black and the flavors of figs and raisins was very pronounced. I still have one more 100 gram tin from 1997 left that I will crack when it turns 25.

Last night, I ordered a pouch of Amphora Original Blend (with some other blends) from smokingpipes. By that time, my TAD wasn’t satisfied and I ordered more tobacco from marscigars. That’s it now, at least until the next blend of the month.

On another note: I’m going to announce our July BOM ‘picker’, shortly. This gives ample time for all participants to order.

I thought I would get it out there early so if people need to, they can order it and Amphora Original blend at the same time. (Smoking Pipes is out, but it is available at Pipes and Cigars)
July's selection will be Hearth and Home White Knight.
I bought a tin of this when I first started smoking a pipe. It was a bit much for me then so I jarred it up and haven't touched if since. Now that I have a bit more experience and my tastes have changed, I'd like to revisit it. I will wait until July to have a bowl.

Finally had a few minutes to load up a pipe. To my amateur tongue it was pretty mellow, sweet and had some type of citrus. It went pretty well with my strong afternoon coffee.
Considering most of my other tobaccos are English blends, this was a real nice change up.

I'll have to give July's a miss, but I still like reading the reviews.

So before we start for next month, I'd kind of like to pick everyone's brain about how we want to do our picks going forward. Originally, I had intended for us to go through and have the person who picked for the current month select someone for next month 10 days before the start of the month as to give people plenty of time for shipping. However, since our July blend has already been selected, I'd like to know if we would rather have blends already selected. My initial idea was that it would be more of a surprise if we waited until near the end of the month, however, I realize this may not be practical for shipping concerns. So what is the consensus? This is a growing thing and I want it to be as practical and enjoyable for as many people that want to participate. My personal recommendation would be that if we would rather just have blends way ahead of time we should go ahead and select up to like September or November as to avoid shipping charges but again this is a group thing.

I'm happy to pre-select. Haven't ordered my amphora yet, but will do soon. Going to visit a b&m next week so will see if it's there first.

Since this has been up for a couple days and everyone who has replied has suggested a pre-select, if we want to go down the line as we've been with previous month the person for next month. I say go ahead just remember to alternate between aro and non aro. Go ahead and finish out to December.

I never smoked Orlik Golden Sliced until this month. I’m almost finished with my tin and will purchase more, soon. I’ve been smoking a pipe for 21 years and there are hundreds of blends I have yet to try. I think the BOM is a great way for newcomers to learn what they like (or don’t like). Thank you Beardedpipesmoker for this great idea.
