This month's blend of the month will be Orlik Golden Sliced. Feel free to start your post.

Is this a blend you'd like to recognize this month or do you plan to smoke nothing but Orlik?

Well, well, well, a fine choice to start this BOM off with. I cellar this blend and smoked a bowl tonight to refresh my memory on why this is a favorite. I consider this a straight VA - whether it has a hint of Burley or a dash of Perique doesn't matter to me. It may or may not have a topping of fruit - who cares as I love the sweetness and straight tobacco taste. It used to be on the cheaper end cost wise when I stocked up. Another plus. It ages great. Well worth trying a tin for yourself.

This is a staple which has anchored many a cellar. I’m sure there are over thirty in mine of varying ages purchased during sales. There’s nothing complicated about this one paced smoke, just pure tobacco pleasure. I get a hint of some topping, perhaps honey or orange applied with a light hand. There’s just enough Perique to give this one a peppery taste. It has a mild nic kick and a tin was always in my roll up when I traveled for work. The roomnote won’t put off many. For the money, it may be one of the best values available. Dunhill Flake is its closest cousin to my tastes. OGS checks a lot of boxes and is a highly recommended intro to Virginia based tobacco.

Smoking a bowl with a cold, though I can taste enough to be excited. That fresh, sweet(more sugar than honey),green raisin, apricot, fruity taste similar to Wrigley's Juicy Fruit gum is reminding me of a couple of my favourite VA blends. Burns well with consistency.
Not a fan of dark fig type of notes. Honestly, I'll quit there as the only negatives I have with this smoke should be tempered by the fact that I at first thought I found a plentiful, affordable alternative to my pricey VA champions.
The truth is, while it will not be replacing anything on my top shelf, it will be joining the shelf and cellar as a constant on it's own merit. Good stuff and at that price!
I should add that it is a bit ironic that I went to SP and found it sold out for the first time in a year or so. Here we go...

OGS periodically sells out due to popularity, not scarcity.

I knew that choosing a blend of the month would do that. SP should be warned in advance next month.

Since I started this thread I suppose I should partcipate...This blend is, to me, quintessentially what pipe smoking is about. The room note, taste and ease of this blend all sum up what I thought pipe smoking would be like when I first thought about starting it. I love this blend and I'm going to need more of it. I could easily make this an everyday smoke.

OGS is a very nice blend. I especially like it during the spring and summer months.

OGS was the first tinned tobacco I tried. I had always bought bulk. For whatever reason, one day the red tin just caught my eye and I decided to try it. I have enjoyed it as a good honest flake tobacco ever since. It is an easy, simple smoke that behaves well, is not too wet and always satisfies my Virginia craving. There are fuller bodied and more complex flakes out there, but I revisit OGS periodically to make sure I remember that sometimes you get it right the first time.

It is probably among the top in my most heavily cellared tins...even with my palate, I get the grassy taste and the orange out of it. It is a fine smoke on it's own, but being a Perique hound, I tried doctoring it and liked it a bit more. thebriarpatchforum.com/thread/2433/beefing-ogsAfter re-reading the thread, I think that I smoked it all before sending Darin some.... I was like a pig at the trough...Oh well, we will make it right soon.

as it takes time to grow a beard . . . . . .beard/plume makes a certain amount of sense.
