Upcoming: June : Amphora Original blend July: cgvt : I thought you picked WhiteKnight ? Unless you want to pick another blend. You would then select a member to chose an aromatic blend for August.

Ok, cgvt has very kindly chosen me for August's pick. I have looked at what's available here and in other countries... I have chosen... Peterson Sweet Killarney

I thought I'd give my impressions of the Golden slices since the month is about over, just to let you all know I smoked it . I've never gotten along with Virginias, always found them harsh even though the grassy flavor is there. But, I figured I'd give it a try to see if my taster had changed any in the spirit of the BOM. Unfortunately, no. Certainly has that cut new hay flavor, but i still find it harsh in the 3 pipes I used. I still like my Virginia dark cured and buried in Dark Fired stuff like ODF and heavy lat blends, although the bit of bright Va in English blends is good.

I'm glad you revisited it in the spirit of BOM, slowroll.

BTW, reason for my choice of Sweet Killarney is because I've never tried it myself, I've heard, from a friend, that it's good (although that's too subjective), it's readily available, and most importantly...I've never, EVER heard of it mentioned in this forum (although I never searched for it using the search function).

Good reasoning. I haven’t smoked it either and am lol forward to trying it.

I just searched for it and only a handful of posts mention it. I'm looking forward to trying it myself.

well, since it's the last day I guess I will post my thoughts. I can't really call it a review. I don't get all the goodies from OGS that others seem to. For me, it's just hay. Still very pleasant. I get a sense of clean and natural. But to me, all it smells like is hay, lol.

As always, a day late and a dollar short. Just noticed that I have not yet added my humble opinion on Orlik Golden Sliced. I've been smoking OGS for a long time and often exclusively on a daily basis. To me this is all a "bright" Va should be, and more. No good home should ever be without a tin of Red Orlik I do not detect the Perique, but then mine is an unsophisticated palate. This palate, however, agrees with the citrussy flavouring present in this tobacco. As a desert island Va this rates a very close second to my all time favourite Va, Samuel Gawith Full Virginia Flake and that says a lot for OGS. Verdict: Will buy again....and again...

A couple of my latest-bought pouches had nothing to do with Red Orlik, but they seem to have gotten their act together again, as the latest pouch was as it should be.
