As my non de plume suggests, flying, boring holes in the sky doing aerobatics, since I was pretty young-since nearly 50 years ago. Restoring airplanes, shooting and reloading, assaulting my piano, and making pipes. I also spend a lot of time on my inert butt reading. In spite of my other passtimes, the one I would be the most devastated to be unable to do would be reading. I so enjoyed flying Cessna Turbos, etc... have so many interests and hobbies, so won't bore all into cavernous yawns...

After losing my health 4 years ago, most of the fun stuff that I used to do like racing go karts at Daytona and riding motorcycles, died. So hi-fi,pipes and cigars, ham radio and SEX are the only ones left.

Restore a good Dynaco system, it’s a bit pricy but it will keep you busy and worth the time....believe me👍👍 I have the solid state amp, tube pre-amp and tuner. Very happy with the set up, I built it back in the 70’s and did a complete restoration in 2009. All parts are still readily available.

Since I was a young lad I have routinely submitted myself to extragalactic interdimensional alien abduction and diplomatic collaboration. Other than that I enjoy reading, music, tobacco, and a number of other vices. Just your average Joe... I never gave aliens much thought until I was transferred from a Parochial School to Public. Public School was more intense back then. I was in 7th grade and all of the sudden I had to do a speech to the class. Everybody else did something thoughtful, but that kind of thing is beyond me. I told a story about falling asleep on a typewriter and being transported to the Planet of Qwertyuiop. To make a long story short... Yes I can do that! I was amazed at how many kids didn't realize that was the top line of a typewriter. The teacher loved it, as did the classmates. I was quite picked on as a kid, but some of the cool dudes actually came up and complimented me on it. Since then my brain has been dedicated to My friends on Zeta Reticuli, where one of the planets has been named Qwerty in my honor. I wrote a story about the planet Dvorak and nobody ever got it. 🤠😎

I'm a stick and rudder guy myself. As you say, so many interests one can have I can't imagine why anyone can ever be bored

I'm at the stage in life where it's all work (well, just about) and no play. Apart from attending pipe club meetings, I read.....a lot. And play with, and talk to my cats....a lot.
This thread got me thinking, it's time to make another lifestyle change.

I collect die-cast model cars from hotwheels, Johnny lightening, matchbox, many others. I have a whole wall of unopened cars I just look at. I posted a few of my newer cars a few weeks ago and I think It maybe time again. I mostly stick to retro-1920s-1980s some 90s.
I also restore old computers and do crazy things with them. Like I have a 1986 apple iigs that can get online and read news and irc.
Then there's Celtic, the football club I've followed since I was a boy in donegal. That team for better or worse will stay with me to my grave.
I have many hobbies but I wouldn't consider myself a real expert on any of it. I just like to relax and learn what I can about these niches- I'm never out to impress.

Yup, that’s a lot of “ logy “ interests. Only one that’s missing is gyneco.......lol Maybe it's not missing. Maybe Walkman just didn't see the need to state the obvious.

That's pretty cool. Ever watch LGR vids on youtube? I love watching that guy play with all those great old machines that I could only see in magazines as a kid.

I used to be a pretty avid home brewer, but I seem to have lost interest, and I just don't enjoy beer as much as I used to. (I also put on about 70 lbs and drinking beer is not conducive to losing weight) so I have pretty much given that up. I spent about a 10 year period doing a lot of offshore fishing. I sold the boat when we had kids, but I still have all of my Penn Internationals and other assorted gear. I expect that they are turning into antiques, though. Now, I guess I do a lot of nothing... I spend most of my time trying to keep the house and yard up (as well as my mother-in-law's house on St Simons Island Ga) and keeping my dog tired out.

As a Cajun we think only rich men have hobbies, I grew up, shooting, fixing, picking cotton, baleing hay, cutting indigo out of rice fields, Used to drive my truck on the headlands of my farm, roll windows down, light up and just enjoy doing nothing , listening to Ole Hank Williams sing Sorry that I’m so mundane but that’s me, my wife calls me Pathetic Old White Man, she ain’t wrong.

… after helping the wife raise 6 sons and retiring 5 years ago...I enjoy more time to read, once again listening to my music, not my kids...going to get back into motorcycle riding, and developing a better sense of Native theology and culture...As my wife has stage 4 cancer most of my current time is spent taking care of her...with the help of Hospice...one son still at home in High School...

Peter, both you and your wife will be in my Prayers. I can totally relate to what you and your wife are going through on a daily basis, the devastation it brings to the entire family. All the best to you and your family. Brings tears to my eyes, I know how this can/will affect your life, May God be near, for both you and your wife.

Ditto.... somehow I drifted past Peter’s post. “In sickness and in health....” That health part is easy, watching your soulmate’s health degrade to that degree, has to really be quite a burden and tough not being able change the course. She made a great choice when she said “I do”.

Regarding that particular hobby, I'd be careful with the glasses. If the lady being hobbied, has powerful thighs, she might break them.

You might as well collect stamps.
