I'm a horseman. An old time drifting cowboy in a modern world stubbornly doing things my way. Right now I work seasonal in Florida as an equine vet tech on race horse training tracks in the winter, then it's off to Montana as a horsemanship / wrangler / guide instructor for 3 months. Sometimes I'm a guide on horseback in the mountains out west, and sometimes the wife and I kick back and eat tacos at our little place in central Mexico for 2 or 3 months at a time. An older 30' RV behind a 1995 Ford F350 Powerstroke is home. No mortgage, no rent, no credit cards, no debt. Sometimes I hit a pretty good lick, save up $6,000-$10,000 over 3 months and do nothing but whatever we want for the next 6 months. Then I pick up the phone, make a call, and hit it hard doing what I love. For another 3 or 4 months. Tips? Money aint near as necessary as we make it out to be. Life is beautiful, it's just that most people die having never lived it. A horse aint a dog. Dont treat it like one. Buy the best saddle you can afford, there aint nothin' riding on it but your life. Nothing chains you down like a need for security To be free, the first thing you have to learn is to be free from yourself. After that, everything else is easy.

Next month, I will celebrate 20 years of being a 911 Dispatcher/Operator. I'm also a part-time firefighter. Tips: Figure out where you are, to the best of your ability, BEFORE you call 911. We can get pretty close to where you are but giving us an exact location speeds things up. Know your cell phone number and the phone number of someone you would call in case of emergency. You'd never believe the number of people that don't know their own cell number. If you are a victim of crime in Town A, you can not report that crime to the police department of Town B. You have to report the crime in the jurisdiction it occurred. Today is the day! 20 years a 911 Dispatcher/Operator!

22 years in the Air Force and a second career in corporate IT. Retired in 2014, and I highly recommend it.

I've been a heavy equipment operator for 35 years, over 30 in the IUOE and IMO true freedom is financial and health care security. "Freedom's" great until you have bad day.

Played in the sand box twice. Played on the Nevada Test Site. Sold parts for big things that move. Fixed big things that move. Sold parts for big things that move. Sold parts for getting fuel to things that move. Semi retired due to health reasons and work up bids and do research for petro chemical and mining equipment for export. Sometimes I even get paid.

It looks like a lot of them left about the same time that we had the "Big Stink". I know that it soured a lot of people.

I dream that I am an International Playboy......however that doesn't pay the bills and my wife doesn't agree.
I work in Clinical Research mainly in pharma and medical device development.
Not as sexy but it does pay the bills and pay for travel.

I've been in aviation maintenance for 39+ years. Proud to be called a mechanic. I've worked on general aviation aircraft, offshore, and air ambulance helicopters, regional airlines, you name it. Been a mechanic / director / inspector / supervisor and worn many hats. Been promoted, laid off, hired, but never fired. Night shift / day shift / on call around the clock. Always in the weather, rarely in a hangar. Worked more holidays than I've had off. It's what I do and all I know.

I was just also noticing how many have just disappeared....^^^that had a lot to do with it...but still...you don't let other people affect your peace and joy...when they do...it is time to drop them like they was on fire.
