I have followed the development of this Mark. They now offer a 450cc version. Ought to be enough for me! Janus Mototcycles. I've looked at them, but they are overpriced by at least 30%. They cost more than a Triumph T100 which is a great, proven bike that I highly recommend. It may be a bit costly, hand made in limited production.

I put a new beaded seat on the bike this weekend as the last one was completely worn out. It really is a nice addition especially for the summer.

Reminds me of the time I learned that Armor All and motorcycle seats don't mix! Hahaha! Oh yeah! Doesn't mix with steering wheels either. Reminds me that I have an expensive XL kingsize seat for a gold wing in the garage. I better get it sold.

This is always a funny time of year for the proper gear. It's 60F when I leave in the morning and 100F or more when I ride home. Gotta love the desert! 😄

Right! I learned that the hard way too. And clutch pedals! I cannot keep a rubber pad on the clutch pedal. My boots just chew them up fast. The "white" metal pedal is slick. So, I wrapped it with small- link chain. Now, boots never slip on the pedal. Wrapping the seat of a motorcycle with a similar chain is not an option I recommend. When I went from a rigid frame HD to a cushy Norton, that new seat perplexed me at first. So, I removed it and rode comfortably seated on the frame double top rails. The shock absorbers and swing arm frame were a treat after bouncing on a rigid bike.

To complete the story above. This was 1971. I was on the coast in Marin County on Highway 1 when two motor officers with the CHP stopped me. They did not like the absence of a seat on my Norton. So, while the guys were "counseling" me, no citation issued, one of them asked me if he could take it for a ride as he admired Nortons and never rode one. Off he went on mine, leaving me his HD and his partner on another HD. About twenty minutes later he returned with a big grin. I had a nice chat with his partner. It was a nice encounter for me as a young guy of 19. I never had problems with the Cops in those days even though I was stopped by enough of them for one thing and another. A normal respectful manner brought back to me exactly what I put out. Something other should learn. Just saying....

Low gears, maybe special order because my uncle towed a trailer with it. I bought it the family when he died. I paid off the $600 loan on it. It was super comfortable, quick off the line and would cruise 90 all day, getting 29 mpg with air conditioning that would frost up the outside mirrors in July. The back seat was big enough to sleep 2 teenagers.

My heel-toe shifter was getting sloppy so I removed it, cleaned & de-burred the shaft and used Loctite on the threads. Smooth as silk on this morning's commute. 👍😎

It's been proven that the heel toe shifters can damage the Gold Wing transmission. I had one but removed it after a couple of mechanics warned me about it. They suggested that it could cost over $5k to repair it.

The linkage is solid and the shifting crisp with 125,000 miles. 👍

I had a heal and toe clutch on a Harley Davidson WL long ago. Shifter was on the tranny itself, "jockey shift" it was called. This is the first time I heard of an actual shifter actuated in this manner. Do these Goldwings have a centrifugal clutch or is there still a manual lever for that?

Pretty sure mine (2016) is a 6-speed, manual, slipper wet-clutch. IIRC, they put out a dual clutch and auto version starting in 2018.

Taking it off was the only way to be sure. I had one on my Magna, but due to position or something I didn't have that problem.

On my ride home last night, the sky opened up on me and a microburst of wind, rain and hail came at me like a banshee. However, I had ordered food to pick up and had to stop before getting home. As I entered the restaurant and unzipped my cuffs to remove the gloves, about a cup of water poured out onto the floor. The waitress just chuckled and said, "I'll get that". 😅

For some reason, I removed the front fender from my Norton because I thought it looked "cool". I went on a trip and it rained hard. I learned a lesson in Geometry missed in school. The tangent from the front tire extended directly to my face thusly sending a constant stream of water. So, I had to ride mounted to one side with the stream over my shoulder. I stopped at a motel and entered the office soaked and dripping. Once in my room, I stood in the hot shower fully dressed. Hung my clothes to drip dry. A damp and chilly ride that next morning.
