...my adult daughter is a professional grower of Marijuana. It is legal in California, and a few other states.
For Christmas, one of her gifts was a quantity of her product.
I have not smoked the stuff in many years. I believe her intent was to make sure that I had some on hand to mitigate the pain/lack of appetite due to my various illnesses.
She doesn't smoke it herself.
It was a thoughtful gift, but I wonder what you folks think about it?

I haven't smoked it in years, either, but I say try some. Go SLOW, since it's most likely LIGHT YEARS stronger than what you remember. I'm sure she warned you though... ;-)

I have never “ partaked “ in my life. Two of my doctors recommended I try a few puffs a day. So far, not as yet.

Could you dilute it down with some tobacco?
Maybe don't inhale?
I've no experience so I've no idea.

Hell, liquor used to be illegal at 1 time

Martin I use a combination of THC and CBD in a vape device for the pain in my body. I am not able to smoke a bowl or cigg with out choking. For me a 3 or 4 sec hit and I am good for a bit.
I say for you to start a toke or 2 to start then wait and see how you feel. Repeat as needed.
If you have contact with a despencery they might give you a guitar on doseage and time.

She doesn't smoke it herself. It was a thoughtful gift, but I wonder what you folks think about it? It's approved for medical use in PA. Recently the city if Pittsburgh has even decriminalized it. I believe you may possess up to an ounce on your person and if a cop wants to, he can give a $25 fine or something like that. I believe it will be legal recreationally for the entire state soon. I'm all for it. I believe individuals should be allowed to grow their own- Being taxed only if grown for profit as with tobacco or alcohol. As for useage, I see no evil in it. I believe it's been the target of negative media thanks to those who would have suffered financially if it were legalized. I've lost friends to everything from cheeseburgers, beer, and cigarettes to prescription meds and serious drugs. Pot when smoked by a responsible person is nothing more than a great way to enjoy music or get to bed on time. I smoke when I have it. Most of you know I suffer from chronic pain and insomnia, but I'd be lying if I said that's why. I enjoy the way it makes me feel and the way it helps to enhance right-brain thinking and the overall enjoyment of all things. That being said, I only have some when I bump into an old friend who gifts me some. I never seek it out because some part of me feels it's important to attempt following the rules, though I disagree with them. Haha As a resident of California and someone who is free to do so, I'd say the choice is yours alone to make and shame on those who would judge any personal decision you make. Especially facing the challenging health issues you are dealing with. Just my opinion.

Your daughter has a valid point.
You may be further ahead talking with a physician about oils and such if the 'high' is something you'd like to avoid.
My old man is an old school biker and smoked his share back in his day(70s-80s) and when he had some of the good stuff, accused me of 'lacing it' hahaha I'd never do that. I'm honest and I do not use drugs beyond nicotine, alcohol, and the occasional bit of 'grass.'
Think of it as comparing Coors Light to a craft beer at double or triple the alcohol.

Are there not long term paranoia effects from smoking it? Haha Maybe not long term, but yes. Anxiety can be a side affect. Kind of how beer can make some feel guilty the next morning. The new strains have been bred to reduce that aspect of it. You can still get the stuff that makes you feel fat and dumb haha But the good stuff will have you cleaning out the garage and whistling while you work.

Smoke it or don't, You do what you feel like you need to do, and I will be happy for you either way.

I say give it a shot but take it slowly. I'm 100% for both medicinal use and recreational. Even after I quit smoking I continue to read about the medical usage and the wonders it does for many ailments.
I know when I smoked my depression and anxiety was in check, I slept better and I had an insatiable appetite. Arthritis in my back and hands didnt seem to bother me as much and migraines were gone. When I decided to quit it took forever for me to adjust to being "normal." I couldnt sleep at all and I was irritable as can be. Now I take pills, which I hate, that really do nothing for me. My head doctor told me that I could always go back to what worked for me... but it's still very illegal here and I already have 1 possession charge on my record. I'm tired of paying for police cars.
My sister lives out that way, she uses it medicinally and it has done wonders for her.
I believe things can be cured, or alleviated, naturally, marijuana has my support.
Go for it my friend, I strongly believe it will help.

Are there not long term paranoia effects from smoking it? Andre, that would depend on the person and the strain. The strains of today is far from it was back in the 60s, 70s. There are strains that target cancer, diabetes also can be used for Parkinson's and many other.

I gave up that shite decades ago, but would use it if I needed it for pain. Try a puff then wait and see what that does. If that doesn't do anything, have another puff and see what that does. Pain is inevitable, suffering is a choice.

As I understand it, there are two major divisions- one is largely for pain (CBD) and the other is largely for the brain (TCP). I am sure your daughter can prescribe, so to speak, what might be best. Nice and slow!
Edit- this was written before I saw about ten recent posts I hadn't seen.
Both are available in liquid forms, so you can save the smoking for your pipes and favorite tobaccos.

I have not smoked the stuff in many years. I believe her intent was to make sure that I had some on hand to mitigate the pain/lack of appetite due to my various illnesses. She doesn't smoke it herself. It was a thoughtful gift, but I wonder what you folks think about it? Dramatwist Martin, I've never had an issue with Marijuana, and have been a strong supporter of its medicinal and recreational use for years. In the late 60' and early 70' while living in the Bay area (San Mateo), I was one of many who voted for Proposition M in 1972 (apparently, a number of misinformed individuals voted against it, and it did not pass). Living here in Oregon, Marijuana retail shops (those with the green cross on the store front) are all over the state (and here in Bend). During my travels to Portland, we pass a large Marijuana farm near Madras. It has to be at least 20 acres. I think the gift you received from your daughter was very thoughtful myself. What a kid! In addition to smoking the gift from your daughter, you may want to look into what has been mentioned above, the CBD cream. There's some pro' and con' to the cream v the oil. The cream targets more of the specific area where the pain is coming from, and the oil taken sublingually under the tongue wherein the oil is absorbed quicker and faster, the cream absorbs topically and last longer according to reports. CBD does not have THC in it, as the THC has been extracted. If I was having chronic types of pain, I've already have made up my mind to go with the cream. I like the idea of targeting the specific or problem area (kind of like dropping a couple of JDAM' on the enemy nest to eradicate the issue for good). I think between the cream and a few hits off a joint (or pipe set-up for the purpose), that could help alleviate some of your pain. Marijuana is legal in California, but I believe you may need a Medical Marijuana card. In addition, Marijuana strains have been hybridized over the years since the 60' and 70' (I'm not sure by how much though), and have apparently become a tad stronger. Usually on the tube and pill bottles used by these retailers, the label with contain the name of the marijuana strain and the percentage of THC in the strain. I think a good retailer would have a low to high range so you could gage of the strength level that you may want to purchase (if you go that direction). Here's a couple of links for your review: www.marijuanabreak.com/cbd-cream-for-painwww.cbdbendoregon.com/collections/topical/products/cbdream-2oz-salve-500mgwww.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/319475.phpcbdoilgeek.com/best-cbd-pain-cream/The main thing is, do your research on the cream and oil. I feel very comfortable with all of it myself, but that's me. You have to feel comfortable in what you do for yourself, and I believe you have a valuable asset in that your daughter is there to help and direct you to sources that can also help you too. Ok. That's my three cents Could you dilute it down with some tobacco?Maybe don't inhale? I've no experience so I've no idea. Absolutely not!
