Buy yourself a dug out with a little pinch hit batter and just go for it. Not a damn thing wrong with it. Everything will be fine man. I had one that I bought on etsy's for $12. A little 1-2 hitter would be just right to get you started

Are there not long term paranoia effects from smoking it? Hopefully, you've not been watching "Reefer Madness"

I do not have to time to read all the responses to your post. So, if someone else covered this point, please foregive this.
The marijuana produced today is far more powerful than the stuff we smoked in the 1960s and '70s. If you are evaluating a new experience based on that ancient history, forget about it. The pot today is crippling, I mean heavy, man! I recall Thai Stick in the early 1970s and how that knocked me out. The marijuana I smoked a couple of years ago when my teeth were acting up is far more powerful than that. Incapacitating.
If you feel you can handle it, by all means try it. In my experience, the pot today does not deaden pain like morphine. What it did was move me to another place where I still had pain but it could be handled, kind of put into perspective. It is hard to explain. Modern marijuana is helpful but you may not want to do anything else but sit in a chair and listen to music or watch TV.
I do not use it for enjoyment and have not smoked it since that time when I had problems with pain. It will not hurt to try it, just do not plan on doing much else for a while.

The last time I smoked any was about 1980, as others have said the stuff now is far more potent. From a theological perspective, I think that all of creation was put here for us to use, but it is up to the individual to educate himself as best he can, and use discernment in applying its use. Knowing how addictive Cocaine and Heroin is, it is plain silly to use it recreationally. If a person is facing a terminal illness use whatever lessons the suffering.
I think that weed has benefits for people with less severe health related issues, but I think that a lot of young people claiming legitimate uses for issues easily treatable by milder options, are often done.
My concerns are primarily people that smoke weed and get behind the wheel and operate equipment that put the motoring public at risk, or the employer liable for accidents and mayhem. In that regard, I don’t know how accurate testing methods are available to employers and law enforcement that can tell whether or not a person has trace amounts not affecting him or her, or if they are under the influence.... I just don’t know how sophisticated the testing methods are. If a person can get relief from chronic pain off the clock using mj, or even recreationally, so be it. I just don’t want to share the road or work with a stoned crane operator on the job.

Could you dilute it down with some tobacco? Maybe don't inhale? I've no experience so I've no idea. If you don’t inhale weed it definitely won’t give the affect needed to relieve pain.

Martin I use a combination of THC and CBD in a vape device for the pain in my body. I am not able to smoke a bowl or cigg with out choking. For me a 3 or 4 sec hit and I am good for a bit. I say for you to start a toke or 2 to start then wait and see how you feel. Repeat as needed. If you have contact with a despencery they might give you a guitar on doseage and time. This ^^^^^^^ is what my doctor recommended. You will not choke, plus hardly any of that burning oregano odor👍👍

As far as legalities check your States law. Here in NC there are strict laws enforced concerning CBD OIL’s
“ The cannabis extract must have more than 15% CBD, but no more than 0.5% THC, and must be done by or under the supervision of a licensed physician. The law in North Carolina also only makes CBD legal for patients with intractable epilepsy. The CBD for this is made from hemp extract.Dec 5, 2018 “

...my adult daughter is a professional grower of Marijuana. It is legal in California, and a few other states. For Christmas, one of her gifts was a quantity of her product. I have not smoked the stuff in many years. I believe her intent was to make sure that I had some on hand to mitigate the pain/lack of appetite due to my various illnesses. She doesn't smoke it herself. It was a thoughtful gift, but I wonder what you folks think about it? Dramatwist Martin, I've never had an issue with Marijuana, and have been a strong supporter of its medicinal and recreational use for years. In the late 60' and early 70' while living in the Bay area (San Mateo), I was one of many who voted for Proposition M in 1972 (apparently, a number of misinformed individuals voted against it, and it did not pass). Living here in Oregon, Marijuana retail shops (those with the green cross on the store front) are all over the state (and here in Bend). During my travels to Portland, we pass a large Marijuana farm near Madras. It has to be at least 20 acres. I think the gift you received from your daughter was very thoughtful myself. What a kid! In addition to smoking the gift from your daughter, you may want to look into what has been mentioned above, the CBD cream. There's some pro' and con' to the cream v the oil. The cream targets more of the specific area where the pain is coming from, and the oil taken sublingually under the tongue wherein the oil is absorbed quicker and faster, the cream absorbs topically and last longer according to reports. CBD does not have THC in it, as the THC has been extracted. If I was having chronic types of pain, I've already have made up my mind to go with the cream. I like the idea of targeting the specific or problem area (kind of like dropping a couple of JDAM' on the enemy nest to eradicate the issue for good). I think between the cream and a few hits off a joint (or pipe set-up for the purpose), that could help alleviate some of your pain. Marijuana is legal in California, but I believe you may need a Medical Marijuana card. In addition, Marijuana strains have been hybridized over the years since the 60' and 70' (I'm not sure by how much though), and have apparently become a tad stronger. Usually on the tube and pill bottles used by these retailers, the label with contain the name of the marijuana strain and the percentage of THC in the strain. I think a good retailer would have a low to high range so you could gage of the strength level that you may want to purchase (if you go that direction). Here's a couple of links for your review: www.marijuanabreak.com/cbd-cream-for-painwww.cbdbendoregon.com/collections/topical/products/cbdream-2oz-salve-500mgwww.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/319475.phpcbdoilgeek.com/best-cbd-pain-cream/The main thing is, do your research on the cream and oil. I feel very comfortable with all of it myself, but that's me. You have to feel comfortable in what you do for yourself, and I believe you have a valuable asset in that your daughter is there to help and direct you to sources that can also help you too. Ok. That's my three cents Could you dilute it down with some tobacco?Maybe don't inhale? I've no experience so I've no idea. Absolutely not! I appreciate the thoughtful advice and comments, Mark. Thank you.

I am an advocate for marijuana all around. Its still filled with so much misinformation despite the ability to crossreference data from their couch.
With that said, this is a rabbit hole. Depending on the type of pain, if you vape, smoke or use it as an edible to even the strain will depend how well it may work for you.
Even if it doesnt help with pain, it can help with enjoying your time. Take it slow and know that you could smoke 5 grams in 30 minutes and you will not die.
There is really just so much to say but honestly, take it slow and just enjoy it.

Martin, the choice is yours and yours alone. Ohio is gearing up for medical use and when they do I'll be using it to relieve the arthritic pain I'm going through. My entire spine is riddled with arthritis as every joint in my body is. I had a knee replacement at 50 and now they are thinking my hips are next. All I take for it is aspirin or ibuprophen even though I my doc would prescribe something stronger. I don't want to get hooked on pain meds since I have an addiction to alcohol and could very easily fall into drug addiction. My doc assured me medical use of weed will not create an addiction issue for me so when the time comes that's the way I'm going. Just my .02

But, until then, I will enjoy knowing it is helping others. I have a buddy who is allergic to most pain medications, and seriously allergic to some. The ONLY thing that helps him is marijuana. His problems are likely much less than many here, but it's the only thing that helps him with his back pain. He was a big user before his injury, and he tells me that the "high" effect has worn off, and it simply dulls the pain to where he really does not notice it. And, like someone already said, it is MUCH stronger than the stuff which you have smoked in the past. Take it slow and have someone with you. I honestly hope it helps!

What have you got to lose by trying it? The Cheetos, and Milky Way bars. In the town where I graduated high school, the police completely ignored cannabis use, so it was fairy rampant. Thursday night was party night, and you couldn't find a bag of Flaming Hot Cheetos or a drop of Mountain Dew anywhere in town on Friday morning.

On the topic of munchies. Cheetos and Little Debbie are great, but it doesn't just make junk food good. Fresh fruit is wonderful. Cut up a fresh pinneapple or a honeydew... A huge, fresh salad with some dressing... haha. Maybe I need to get dinner going.
You know, I didn't realize it was kind of a Pittsburgh thing till I joined the Army and met people from other places, but a steak or chicken salad isn't complete without a hanfull of fries.

I don't smoke it myself, but my wife needs to due to extreme back pain and the severe side effects of prescription pain killers. It has done wonders for her ability to move around normally without worrying about severe intestinal problems and addiction associated with pain killers. I fully support the legality of the product.

All I remember when I was in my teens.....” if you smoke marijuana, next you will be looking for a much bigger high and start using heroin “! I’m sure many of you around my age remember that BS! Martin, I highly recommend you giving it a try, but Vap, you won’t choke. Start off with 2 hits and take it from there. Your daughter will tell you the weed on the market today is MUCH more potent then the 60’s through the 80’s. If Hydro go slow....ALL THE BEST
