For the first time since I bought them, I've taken the Maggies out of the system and gone back to the Tannoys. Wow. For all the immediacy and detail the Maggies give you, the richness and palpability of the Tannoys is stunning. I will very happily go back and forth between these 2 sets of speakers over the years. (Which will be no sweat, given the ease of moving the Maggies.)
I know that all sounds like audiophile bs, but I'm really not kidding.
Why not, as long as you have room. I would have kept the LaScalas if I had room, but we were moving to a house with no place for them. I tried a pair of Heresys for a month but the room was all wrong. I got the Accustats for the den because they fit better. After I had to remodel the den to create an office, I downsized to NHT Model 1's. Then small Polks and maybe 2 or 3 other experiments. But no Bose! The current big Klipsch are the biggest and best speakers I've had in 30 years.

I've been looking at the Shiit Rykkr amp for the den speakers. If you go surround you'll need 4 of them. 😁 I've done surround sound, from running 2 of 4 speakers out of phase in 1970, real quad, and 7.5 surround AV. Stereo is still my favorite.

So tell you meant to say Gjallarhorn and not Rykkr will call it a typo. I haven't heard of either one. Last speaker amp I knew of from them was the Aegir. They've got new ones out, I guess.

I hadn't seen the GJALLARHORN, but yes. I didn't see the specs on the Rykkr, just read a bunch of guys talking about. Wall oven just blew, I'll stick with the Pyle. It's kinda like Shiit. 😁

One of the patients that I deliver to occasionally is a pretty cool dude... he looks like a rock star. Worked in electronics waaay back, and an engineer for Fosgate. He is currently restoring some old McIntosh receivers and Pre-amps. His shop is really impressive, and the sound quality is amazing.

Thinking about carrying a fold out hammock and a pipe into his shop for my mandated DOT break, his choice of music is excellent!

Got word that the Decware tube amp I ordered 2+ years ago has been built and is in the testing stage. I figure it'll ship sometime next week. Should be fun!

The few times I ordered something that took that long to arrive, I always forgot that I had and it ended up with me feeling like I got a random gift that I actually wanted!

I've been intermittently checking the waiting list, seeing my name creep toward the top. I hadn't checked it in a few months, though, and wasn't expecting it until August or September, so it is arriving earlier than expected.

Sharps rifle, or a bespoke Holland and Holland Royal Double rifle. What is special about this amp? They're just a very small company that hand-builds each product. They don't use circuit boards. Everything is point-to-point wiring. They make their own transformers. Everything is hand built except the tubes and I guess the cases. They're highly regarded. Lots of people want their stuff, but they won't hire a bunch of people just to crank out product. The owner is an engineer, likes to be hands-on, and has about 6 other people he trusts. So, they've got a long waiting list.

It went to the shipping dept. last week, but they're behind, too. Was told today it should ship late this week or early next. What's a couple weeks after 2.5 years, I guess.

Wowza! That's a lot of glass! It puts off some heat when it gets going. It will sound especially good in January. Are you going to run any kind of break-it routine? Does the maker have suggestions?

It puts off some heat when it gets going. It will sound especially good in January. Are you going to run any kind of break-it routine? Does the maker have suggestions? They give them a pretty thorough run-in before shipping them out. Manual says you may get a little extra noise for the first hour or so from impurities burning off of the tube elements, but that's about it. I don't even seem to have that; thing's dead quiet with no signal.
The manual is kind of a kick. It ends with, "We make few enough of these amplifiers that we think of them as pets. We like to know they're happy and doing well."
It also has a lifetime warranty that's transferable. If you sell the amp, you ship it back to these guys, they give it a going over, then ship it on to the buyer with the updated warranty.
ETA: It shipped in a big ol' rolling Pelican case. I don't think I'll really be taking it on the road, but it was handy for getting it into the house.

All in all it sounds like a neat company. You paid for the Pelikan case but I'll bet you find a use for it. It was probably the simplest and most secure and safe way to ship it so the cost is justified. Enjoy!

The idea with the case was really to have something good and sturdy for me to ship it in, I think, should the need ever arise. I could probably resell it right now at a considerable markup to somebody who doesn't feel like waiting 2-3 years for one.
Thanks!
