Just trying to see what everyone spends in a month on tobacco, I am fortunate in my opinion to be able to spend 350.00 every month which gets me about six pounds of Baccy. I try to buy one month tins and one month bulk and it has worked out for me pretty good. I’m 39 and want to have about forty years worth cellared and I think I’m about half way there, on that note it would be great to see your cellar porn, I know this has been done probably extensively before but I love to see what others have stocked up on!

You are making a smart move...getting what you can get while it is still available...if/when they put an end to internet sales of tobacco it is gonna look like a fire sale...so stock up now not some time in the future...you may find you are out of luck by then.

I buy what I can, when I can. I look mostly for sales and stock up then.

I for one don't want to know ! It's kind of like similar threads on an airplane owners and pilots forum I hang out on... When we tally it all up and then try to justify the expense of maintaining and caring for a plane, along with the hangar, insurance and fuel, let alone the acquisition costs, it rarely makes sense on paper. ;-( Much the same story here... thebriarpatchforum.com/thread/3354/acquisition-disorders-all-pic-heavyWhen I got back into piping, about 2 1/2 years ago, I had one pipe and one pouch of Borkum Riff. I'd conservatively guess that the pipe total is now upwards of 140 to 150 pipes and close to 150 lbs or so, taking this months acquisition of 45 lbs or so. I truthfully don't want to know how much I've spent thus far. ;-)

It depends on what is for sale. Some months it could be close to $1K other months hardly anything. I follow prices pretty carefully. When there is a deal I'll stock up on what I need to go deep on. If no deal I'll wait. Some of my best acquisitions have come from forum members selling off their cellars. Same with pipes. SP has some Savinelli's on sale for 55% off right now. I grabbed a few of those.

Probably $100-200 a month, no more than that, though.

I really don't have a budget for tobacco now, I probably have more than I can consume before the Grim Reaper taps me on the shoulder.
About four years ago, I set a budget pretty much where you are at Highwaycobbery, and it put me in the sweet spot for cellaring blends that I knew would be in my wheelhouse by their genre, and I am there....I will pick up a few pounds here and there, watch city's blends are definitely on my radar, but at this point I am pretty content with what I have.
My grandpa had a single medico or Grabow, and bought Prince Albert a tin at a time, and he was more of a contented soul than I am....something to be said for that.

To be truthful, I haven't bought tobacco in about a year. Don't see myself buying anymore anytime soon. I have quite a bit so we'll see how long it lasts and take it from there. I don't see any emergency to buy more and stock pile. In fact it may have been all a elaborate scam setup by tobacco companies and there buddies the government to produce more revenue. If I'm right, it worked and is still working. Think about it, outlaw tobacco in the U.S? How insane would that be? Just like when they tried Prohibition, and we all know how well that worked don't we.

I'm not going to sit here an argue out what I feel its all about. Y'all can believe what ya want but, when it comes to big business and the government I trust neither and expect anything. Specially when it comes to there true idol, Money.
And by the way, there were and are plenty of alcohol haters out there, obviously your not part of them is all.

They lose no revenue if they legalize one smoking substance to abolish another.

I spend under $50 a month on tobacco, and then it is usually just replacing a couple of tins I've finished off. My cellar is very small with maybe a total of 12 lbs. so I'm pretty much set for 5 or 6 years.

I guess I lump this in with "what's your most expensive pipe?", "how much do you make in a year?", "how big is your cellar?", and "what's your net worth?" No one's business except mine. Not even wife's biz.
And some people can't wait to show everyone.
But in the spirit of openess, I'll estimate about $600 p.a., or $50 a month on average.

I have lots of jars.. However, most of them just sit. The tobacco ages nicely.

Depends on several factors. Mostly expendable cash. Will never buy on credit or if I have a real "need" going on in my life. If I make extra scratch at work, and everything is paid up, I'll take it from there. A good sale or hard to find item will dictate how deep I'll go down the rabbit hole. I do like to see pics of different cellars. I like to gauge the severity of my TAD amongst others who suffer the same affliction, lol. Too lazy to drag all mine out for a pic however.

On the one hand, my wife is ok with the fact that I haven't bought a new pipe (she bought me one for my birthday) or a lot of new tins (what she doesn't know won't hurt me). But now she is questioning whether I needed a new hat. I told her to relax, the hat was way cheaper than a new pipe.

I've probably got 25-30 pounds put away and if I see something interesting I haven't tried, I'll buy some of that. Or if I get a chance at something not readily available I'll pull the trigger. That's what I did when I discovered SPC Plum Pudding a few months ago. Otherwise I just smoke from existing stock.

Spending probably $200/mo. Slow and steady. Last summer had about 5-6 lbs and now around 26 lbs. 40 years worth is a lot of tobacco! If I was going to do that it would be close to 750 lbs assuming 5 bowls a day or about 1 oz.

Sometimes zero, sometimes way too much, depending on blend availability

If I was going to do that it would be close to 750 lbs assuming 5 bowls a day or about 1 oz. Geoff, I run about 4 bowls day which is probably an annual tobacco burn rate of 10-15 pounds. I therefore have about 2 year supply on hand. I am nearly 70 and expect I'll be smoking for the next 10 years. So I probably need another 40-50 pounds anyway. But I'm not worried about it. A lot of folks here think tobacco will be completely outlawed, but I don't expect that to be the case. It will certainly get more expensive over time. However if I deplete my cellar, I'll just get more of whatever is available. I enjoy a variety of blends.

I spend about 20 or 25 bucks a month, I usually spend it on bulk blends or sale priced tins from P&C when i can find an obscure tobacco coupon that offers multi pouches for $1 and free shipping on the whole order. I guess I an just a bargain hunter at heart. I have pouches of Capt Black that i buy for $5 off and SWRA for $3 off a pouch with bi monthly coupons from STG.
