As the title suggests, this thread is about all of our, ok, ok, MY Acquisition Disorders... It started out innocently, about 1 1/2 years ago, when I only owned 1 pipe and 1 pouch of tobacco. Since that time I have fallen victim to PAD (close to 100 pipes now), TAD ( closing in on about 100 lbs of tobacco ) :-( Throughout all of this I also contracted EPAARD (estate pipe acquisition and refurbing disorder) and have just been outted by Blondie for what she has identified as my latest disorder.... MCAAD ! (mancave accessory acquisition disorder) thebriarpatchforum.com/thread/1477/mancave-redux-photosuckit-hostage-crisisthebriarpatchforum.com/thread/1668/new-seating-mancavethebriarpatchforum.com/thread/2305/impromptu-poker-game-mancavethebriarpatchforum.com/thread/2554/mancave-liberated-picture-heavyYou might not be able to tell it, but I've recently added a couple of more reproduction pipe tobacco signs... As well as some beer stuff. More specifically, Henry Weinhard's Beer Stuff ! In my own defense, those of you that know me, know that I'm a pretty thrifty shopper (Blondie calls me cheap), but nonetheless, I have definitely "accessorized" the place a bit over the last 1 1/2 years.

I'm just reflecting on this... All that in 1.5 years. That's really good going. That's what I'm aiming for, but slow and steady...under-the-radar-stuff.

Nice. And from experience...if you're refurbishing and selling...the proceeds will fund more of the same. Ask me how I know.

LL, As I've mentioned in previous posts, with very few exceptions most of my furnishings, accessories and artwork were all picked up at a sizeable discount on CraigsList, Ebay, Etsy and @ thrift and antique shops. Almost all of my pipes are estate's that I've refurbed. The only thing I've paid close to "retail" for is the tobacco. Much of that though was picked up from fellow pipers here and on other forums. I've even found some relative bargains on Esoterica blends by simply cold calling various Pipe Shops around the country and inquiring about what they might have in stock. As recently as a few months ago I picked up 8 oz bags of both Penzance and Stonehaven for only $40 or so each. Just requires a little bit of patience, diligence and of course Luck. Cheers

Nicely done, Dino. Your PAD, TAD, and TMAD (Tobacco Memorabilia Acquisition Disorder) are an inspiration to us all.

Thank you all. Very kind comments for sure.
Sitting up here in the leather wingback chair, you tube videos playing on the tv, surfin pipe sites on the laptop, just finished up some MM965 in my old Clubman bent billiard and sippin Earl Grey.
Contemplating my next bowl and planning my work travel schedule for next month. Definitely thankful for my little smoking corner and for all of the piping friends I've made over the last 1 1/2 years.
cheers

Before I found TAD and PAD I HAD what musicians refer to as GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome)... Guitarists are notably susceptible as I will here demonstrate..

And then there are my gun and record collections.. I should be halfway through my second mortgage by now with a comfy rental property under my belt. Let that be a lesson, folks. Teach your children how to manage money! haha

I've gone through several acquisition disorders over the years: knives, fishing tackle, comic books... Coming to grips with it is sometimes painful and embarrassing. Currently selling off my comic book and fishing tackle collections on Ebay. I have pretty much sold off the knife collection; just kept a few that were made by my brother and a friend's son.
