Bought a pair of Red Wing boots about 6 weeks ago they have hurt the bottom of my feet on my left heel ever since I put them on I took them back to the place I bought them they replaced them still These Boots hurt my feet call Red Wing and they said tough crap so I will never ever buy another pair of Red Wings as long as I live and I'm only 53 so I figure I've got about 80 years left of my life

That's unfortunate. Each brand of boots use their own 'last', which is the sole, or base of leather the rest of the boot is built on. Means every brand has slightly different shapes. I had problems with heel fit a long time ago and kept trying on different brands till I found the one that fit my foot best. Sometimes it's just trial and error. But if you fond one that is quite uncomfortable, it's not likely another pair of the same is going to improve the fit. They are all made the same. You actually have to try different brands at that point. Too bad about the customer service, but the guy probably figured they were never going to make you happy on fit.

Bad decision on Red Wings part, Exxon put up a good part of the cost in them, we had a shoe truck come to the plant, you were allowed 2 pair per yr, people were abusing the program and that why they cut back to 2 per yr. They could have given you easily another pair to try, Dumb,Dumb,Dumb. PS they has to be steel toe.

Have worn Red Wings for over 40 years and never had any problems either fit or customer service. Sorry to hear of your experience. Try Georgia Boots maybe they'd work better for you or get your boots custom made. You are talking about work boot style boots right?

Red Wings are made well and usually fit better after a few days or take to a local shoe repair if you can find one and have the boot causing you the issue stretched a bit on the bottom. Possibly a Dr. Sholl’s gel inner pad might help!?!?!?

That’s what I did, a half size bigger and a gel insole inside,

That is strange. I know lots of guys that really swear by them. I almost bought a pair recently.

Had a pair of Ranch style for 12 years. Resoled and heeled twice, the last couple of years, they were as soft and supple as slippers.

I have owned Red Wings almost my whole life. They do take time to break in, but are super comfortable. Maybe wear them in hour increments each day until they break in?

I've always had problems getting boots that suited me. So, 10 years ago I sprung 600 bucks for a pair of semicustoms from Nick's Boots out west. Semicustoms because they have certain styles, but custom fit. Best boots I've ever had. And, when you wear out the uppers, they'll rebuild 'em for 250 bucks.

Only a few of their models are made in Red Wing Mn., most are Chinese made crap... And their customer service sucks.
I will post my story later on a computer, but from 1984-2006 I was a loyal customer, not anymore.

The last two pair of Red Wings I tried on back on Long Island at “ Bob’s “ were made in China. All of their cheaper line of boots are now made in China. So buyer beware, look where your shoes or boots are made before even trying them on👍

I tried Red Wings years ago and they tore my heel's up. I have a wide foot but a narrow heel so I figured they weren't for me. When I went to trade school they included a pair of boots in the tuition and they were Red Wings cheaper version called Worx. They are one of the most comfortable pairs of boots I ever owned and I still have them after 12 years of use. They're getting a little thin on the bottom but that's the most use I ever got out of a $80.00 pair of boots.

My cliffnote experience.... after decades of stellar service from Redwings, I purchased a pair ($200.00) in 2005 from a local shop in Az....the old fart running the store acted like my best buddy at purchase.
A couple months later, the soles cracked all the way through, a few inches south of my toes. I took the boots to him, and he told me that I needed to contact the maker as he gave me the bum rush to the door.
I sent pictures in an email, and stated what happened..they told me that I had to deal with the store... I went back with email in hand, got the same treatment from the old guy.
Contacted Red Wong Mn...crickets.
Red Wong popped up in autocorrect... Ironic, but fitting.

I have worn redwings for years and they have treated me well but the quality is gone now that they are made in China. The redwing dealer told me that only the dress shoes are still made in America.

If you want American made you're going to spend more. Allen Edmonds, Alden, Rancourt and a few others. $400-600 a pair. But the quality is definitely there.

I've never wore Red wing boots but Georgia Boots were some of the most comfortable work boots I've ever put on my feet.
I gave up on normal boots and have went with Merrell MoAB's. They are everything I want in something that has to be on my feet all day long. They've lasted over a year so far, which is excellent durability for me.

I have to say I bought Red Wings because of the Exxon discount, but I have never been disappointed in Timbrerland for quality, takes a little longer to break in, but they last.

Sorry to hear that Jack. I think I'm the one who told you to try them. They are the only work boots I wear. I get a good 10 years + out of them. Resole them an I'm good to go. Customer did you wrong, luckily I've never had to use it.

Anybody here remember when a door to door salesperson came to your home, measured your feet and in a week or two your “ Knapp “ shoes or boots were delivered and fitted perfectly to your feet?? I still own a pair, 3/4 boot, full thick leather with steal toe. Haven’t worn them in a few years but about every 6 months they get a leather & saddle soap treatment. Still in good condition, that’s when American products were made with pride👌👍👍 I see that pride coming back with a number of American corporations!!

I forgot about Knapp but my father wore them exclusively all the years he worked. He was a Chef and was on his feet all day on duck boards in the kitchen. He wore a black ripple soled oxford which I think was exclusive to them at that time. When I got older I got fitted by the sales guy for a pair when he came by the restaraunt/hotel my father was working at and I still have 'em in the back of the closet. This makes me think I need to get 'em out to wear again!

I’d bet yours would clean up nicely and will bring back some fond memories. Glad someone remembered the door to door sales of this fine American shoe company 👌👍👍

Danner boots one try and you wont be going back to wings. You want the ones with thinsulate bootie. www.danner.com/men/work/rain-forest-8-brown.html When they wear out you send them in and they refurbish them at a reasonable price. When I first got married I worked outside walking on gravel and working on big iron and was walking out of boots every six months. My first pair hurt the pocket book with a young child at home but they soon showed their worth leading to second pair. The logger boot is really tough as well www.danner.com/men/work/danner-logger-8-brown.html but is harder to break in.

When I was 14 I started working for my brother's inventory service, and I was on my feet for long hours. My feet needed support. I tried cheap shoes of all kinds before I discovered Florsheim Imperial Brogues. Starting at 15 years old, I wore them every day for years. I would wear out a pair every year. The salt from the sweat would break down the leather. I was the only teen buying $135/pair dress shoes. I would take them in the box and have rubber heels and half soles put on them for another 35 1966 dollars. Around age 20, I found out about Red Wing Postman shoes. Stoutly built with rubber soles for just over half the price of the Florsheims. I wore those for the next 20 years. (about 10 pairs)

I have done well with Chippewa boots over the years. Danner was also good. As was Double H.

I liked Trask boots until they became China made. My most recent purchase was Chippewa. They are good quality.

I have been wearing Bates tactical boots for a few years... the Arizona sun leaches salt and sweat that pretty much kills them off at the one year mark... but they are very light and offer great ankle support, and they run about $100.00.
I buy my insoles from the Walmart /Scholls unit near the pharmacy where you stand on the unit and it maps your feet and suggests the appropriate insole based on pressure points.... it sounds gimmicky, but they offer a full refund and you keep the insoles... $50.00, my knee pain went away, and I have never taken them up on the money back guarantee.
My son swore by his Marine Corps Danner’s he gave me a pair of his NIB... killed my feet, not the fault of the boot, he has narrow feet the same size as my wider feet.

I wore Redwings for close to 20 years because I was on my feet for 12 to 14 hours a day and they were always comfortable, long lasting, and a great value. Now I wear Brooks Beasts. My bad arches and ancient ankles thank me for them every day.

I got them when I could no longer pull on a boot after the last time I broke my leg. Side zip. I got them for the bike, and as they get beat up I demote them to yard work.
