There is a place for a .22 Mag but not for that kind of money. I had a nice German made clone of the Colt SAA in .22 mag. I gave it to a gal I knew who had problems with dogs killing her goats and sheep. She is a retired USN Officer, so I figured she must have had some sort of firearms training along the way. Who knows? Dogs are no longer a threat in her neighborhood.

I gave my FIL a Heritage 22 for the dogs that were killing his goats in East Houston. He hauled off 6 pit bulls the next day. Damn fine little gun, damn fine shot for a 91 year old man.

The best single action I ever owned. Have not had it for about 12 years now. This might also be the best gun picture I ever took.Third generation Colt SAA in 357.

I haveone just like yours 'cept it's a 45 and has factory rubber grips. One of the best shooting guns I've owned. Had it for 30 years now and will have it till I die.

Mike, make sure you leave it to some lucky and deserving soul. Someone who will respect and treasure it.

AS expected, I was outbid on both Colts during the auction. There is no way a poor man will ever be able to afford these relics of history.

No, but there are plenty of other interesting guns for reasonable prices. AIM has Beretta 12 shot 7.65 ACP pistols for $229, and Ruger and Smith 357s for 399. If you are collecting instead of shooting, you have to decide if you want to collect Dunhill, Ivaarson, or Savinelli level guns. Any Colt revolvers are Dunhill to Ivaarson, Smiths are Savinelli to Dunhill, etc. I would be happy to collect Rossis. Think cobs. Edit I'll bet some of your neighbors have some Colt's stashed that their ancestors collected from the battlefields and wayward missionaries. Just watch the local obituaries.

[/b] That has not been my experience. Most of these people are so poor, they have nothing by the time they die. Been to many estate sales. Hand guns are were never popular here. You can find old .30-30s, .270s, .30-06 that is about it.

It is not that important to me anymore. I had a nice collection of Colt 20th century revolvers. If I can find one cheap enough I would buy it otherwise, it is in the past.

I have only shot one Colt revolver and only 3 shots. I only ever desired 2, a Diamondback and a 1917. Both are out of my budget. Love old 30-30s though. A lottery win would lead to a worldwide shortage of model 94s.

I got my shipping label today from Rossi for the recall on the 85104 38 Special 4". It Supposed to be in response to a lawsuit against Rossi because one went off when it was dropped. I have looked it over carefully and I can't see how it can happen unless it's cocked, and not even then. If I send it back they will send me a check for $50 but it has to be shipped back to a licensed dealer. I will decide In a few weeks.

I have reports of folks saying the Rossi customer service people don't have a clue when they will even start the inspections and repairs, and are waiting on the courts. Currently they are simply collecting the guns and holding them. I'd be nervous sending your 851 back right now. Besides, what are they even supposed to do to it? Engrave DO NOT DROP on the side?

Both revolvers (Don's and Ron's Elmer Keith's #5) are beautiful shootin' arns.

I got it for when I start reloading again. I can turn out 500 rounds of 38 wadcutters in less than 2 hours. I need to work out the thread choke and even up the cylinder throats, plus a trigger job. You know, the stuff that S&W's custom shop does for another $550.

I thought this might fit here..Yesterday afternoon a pretty bad storm came through this area...It knocked the power out in a down town area about 15 miles from me..While the power was out thieves broke into a gun shop and stole 60 hand guns and 2 rifles.Of course the police are looking for them.

I went to the range today with 5 handguns for testing purposes. The 38 Spl Rossi was very accurate with the 130gr FMJs, but not with the 158gr SJHPs. The 44 Mag snubbie still shoots high and to the left. 7 in at 11 o'clock position at 30 ft is pretty bad. I no idea how to fix it as the sights are fixed. My EDC LCP turned into a jam-o-matic. I guess it needs its first cleaning. Remington R51 was easy and dead on with 125 +P, 115 WWB, 115 SCHP, and 147 grain JHP. The main reason for the trip was to shoot the 44spl Blackhawk with the new grips. Easier to hold, but I still can't hit anything with it. I am tempted to trade it on a 1911. I am not good with revolvers as a rule, but some I shoot much better than others. I can shoot a better group with my 1.125 inch NAA 22 than I can with the Blackhawk. No groups worth showing.

When I shot my brother-in-law's NAA Mini in 22Mag, I was shocked at how accurate it was; more accurate than me. It was the little folder, like this: That said, one time he bought me a Daisy Red Ryder for Christmas. I thought, that was a weird Christmas gift, to buy me a toy like that, but I was wrong. Being in IT, I always had a bunch of thick cardboard boxes that computer cases shipped in. I could stick little round orange target stickers on it and the BBs would penetrate the box, but not exit, so there was no cleanup hunting for BBs. You could get that little Red Ryder to hit the center of the sticker, at across the room distances; it was an awesome private indoor range.

Ron, I have had the same experience with single action revolvers in general. I just sold my Ruger Bisley Blackhawk in 44 Special after trying for years to get better with it. Slight improvements, but I am still way better with my double action revolvers whether I shoot them double or single action. I have now owned two Ruger Single Sixes, four Blackhawks, a Colt SAA, a Colt 22 and a Freedom Arms Model 97. I have generally sucked with all of them, even after much practice. I once had a cap and ball 1860 Army, that I was surprisingly accurate with. I may get one of those again, just to enjoy a cap and ball gun, but I think I am finally done with single actions. For big bore cartridge handguns, I am going to stick with my GP100 in 44 Special and my CZ97 in 45acp.

I am thinking about getting a 1858 Remington with the conversion kit to centerfire. You just take the cylinder out to load it which is easier the loading a single action through the gate. I was deadly accurate with that 160 year old technology.

Have you guys seen the newest Colt King Cobra? In 2017, they introduced the 3" 6-shot .357 King Cobra here: Then earlier this year they came out with the King Cobra Carry, a bobbed hammer 2" 357, also a 6-shot: Now they've come out with the King Cobra Target, a 4¼" adjustable sights 357: MSRP for the 2" and 3" are $899, the Target a hundred more, at $999. You can get a S&W snubbie 357 for $600, but they're all 5-shot. The Kimber 6-shot snubbie 357 is $650. I'd go for the Kimber, and save me $250 or so. The grip looks more concealable, too.

Does anyone besides me have small hands that can't handle big guns? I traded away a double column 9 MM because of that and got a single column 380. I found a stainless Luger that I liked a lot but it cost a thousand bucks..Just didn't have that much to spend.

I shoot 1911s just fine, as well as my battle pistol, a Star Model 30M that holds 17+1. I had to get oversized grips for my Blackhawk. I also have no issues with the NAA 22 mini.

At least with revolvers you can tailor a grip to your hand. Thick double stack semi-autos fit me pretty well most of the time.
