I had no idea Colt brought back the Python. People seem to love them given the ridiculous prices they sell for now.

That 1960 issue of GUNS Magazine was awesome. Colt 1911 for $39.95. M1 Garand for $79.95. Then again, according to census.gov, the median annual salary was $5,600. A brand new Corvair 500 was $2,038, and gas was 31¢ a gallon.

Weirdest shooting stance I ever saw. What's he sighting across, the butt? Also looks like the ergo on the grip frame has moved decidedly toward the S&W K and L frames. I have seen elsewhere that the grip is slightly more towards the S&W, which I find second only to be 1858 Remington. Also, the action and frame have been significantly enhanced for durability. If I could only find an excuse that would get past the wife.

My old Colt Commando might just be a distant dream. Seems the receiving FFL has left town for a while. We shall see what happens...... "Poor New Mexico, so far from Heaven....." Gobernador Manual Armijo, 1846 or earlier.

God! Those prices make me cry...1960 was indeed a good time. If you look at inflation data they really are about in line with current prices.
In 1955 I was using .22 Shorts for rats and pigeons in the barn. .37¢ for a box of 50. That .37¢ is now $3.75. Sounds about right? (That is, if you can FIND .22 Shorts anywhere...)

Morons and know-nothings should not be allowed to define terms they have no knowledge of. Seems to me that would eliminate a good number of our elected representatives at each level of government from the county to the Congress in Washington!

Still pursuing the FFL in Red River who received my gun purchase. Evasive little fugger. Does not return phone calls or emails.
His home is very well hidden and hard to locate. I spent hours on Google Earth and Google Maps locating it. He has a phony map on Gunbroker.com which is where I learned of him. I will head down there this evening. Now, our county sheriff thinks he is a good and decent guy so I am at a loss to understand his furtive behavior.

You would not believe some of the dirt "roads" that I had to go down to find him. Deepest, darkest Piney Woods hard up against Arkansas. Google maps gave up and a phone signal was nowhere to be found. I did get it though!

A lot of "home-based" FFLs are like that. Maybe with good reason.

I carry a weapon when there is a definite threat. That does not happen much anymore. I know most of the "Bad" men and outlaws here. I have treated them with respect and they have they have the cojones to return the honor.

No success with the local FFL.
He had an "emergency" to attend to.
I will try again tomorrow.
Clearly, some of these people should not be in business.

I know that this is about revolvers, but I wanted to throw out a warning that if you shoot the Dragonsbreath shotgun shells, clean your barrel immediately. I'm just glad that it was a $50 shotgun.

I suspect he is an autoloader man. The name of his business is "G&M Tactical". My experience is that these "Tactical" types are usually in the high capacity magazine business with ARs and double stacked pistol magazines. A six gun from WWII is not of much interest to them in their quest to suppress zombies, illegal immigrants, space aliens, large bugs, Commies, etc.

Full autos, suppressors, etc. Definitely a prepper. judging by the stack of ARs he does a "booming" business too.

Finally found my FFL at home. The end of a bad road with rocks, ruts, rip rap. Got the Colt and it is a honey. Smoooooth trigger. Clean bore. Tight lockup. Snap Caps for trigger testing. A little wear on the Nickle in two spots. Given the age, nice shape. The grips appear to be for a "D" Frame. So, I have correct replacements ordered.

I just filled out the new application, he handed me the box. I paid him and left. Hope there is no problem with NICS!!!
