Not a revolver, but I didn't want to start a new thread. Pretty good shooting from an older gent. I believe I could have made these shots when I was in my 20s, but no way now. My dominant eye is afflicted with black spots and cloudy bubbles and a drooping eyelid. My shooting days may be at the end. Jut one word... SHOTGUNS!!! LOLOL I'm a RIFLEMAN. Period. Every thing else is for emergencies.

Truth be told, I'm a revolver sort of guy. My carry piece is a mildly modified Ruger Security Six, 2 3/8 inch barrel, stainless, rounded butt. It's a bit heavier which helps with recoil, but I just haven't found anything else I like better for concealed carry. My love of semi-auto pistols started...and ends...with the 1911. That is about how I feel. Just not n fan of the autoloader although I have owned several. Long admired the Ruger Security Six in all configurations. Mine is an old Colt Cobra which is really a backup to a Colt Commando .38 Special. I have found two guns are better than one when it comes to revolvers.

A second pistol can be a lot faster than a reload.

Turkish made. You will be required to grow a bushy mustache and then make it as black as possible. Grecian formula or shoe polish….

I think they figured it out long ago. Needing a gun for bears is very much an a perceived need for most people here. Bears are not really the risk people imagine, however. I have probably slept outdoors in CO, NM, WY, UT, AZ about 500 nights of my life. Never a problem with bears or cougars. I have however, had to show someone we were armed to convince them to move along. It is the terrain and weather that will kill you fastest. I carry for protection against unpredictable primates.

Turks have come on strong with their guns in the last decade or so. Lots of Turkish shotguns in the American game fields. Coupla years back I had a yen for a compact CZ75. CZ made them but they were only an ounce or two lighter than the standard CZ75, which is a HEAVY gun. Canik made one with an alloy frame. I tumbled, keeping tongue in cheek. Turns out it is a great little gun. Works flawlessly. Not as dressy as what the Czechs deliver but in terms of functionality it can’t be faulted. Even had a couple of features unavailable oh the CZ. I respect the Turks’ gun-making ability. And on that .45? No better home defense handgun IMO. Prove it out for reliability and you’re good to go.

I've seen a couple of skins that chased the wrong people into there kitchens in New Mexico. I've also watched them eat peanuts in the yard. It only takes one. I've slept outside over 750 days in Texas. Mosquitoes are harder to hit. And I was just trying to give you a plausible excuse.

It’s true that the odds of a bear/cougar attack are small and remote. Sucks though if you happen to be in that tiny odds corner. More likely to be a victim of a fellow humanoid. Either way, luck favors the prepared mind.

Seriously though, I am at way more risk from thousands of other things. I get sick of answering the “What do you carry for bear” question, from recent transplants to Colorado. I am in the woods often enough, that if I considered it a serious threat, I would never be unarmed. But it is just not much of a concern. Make noise, store your food high and in a good sealed container and pay attention. Black bears are there all the time, but you rarely see them. Grizzly country is a different level of danger. Moose is a bigger concern for me, as I do a fair bit of kayaking in their front yard now. Cranky, unpredictable critters. I would not want to shoot one, so I just give them a wide berth. I have seen quite a few injuries and life threatening situations from falls, burns, carelessness with tools, vehicle accidents, heat stroke, hypothermia, allergic reactions to stings and bites, food poisoning, giardia, etc. Rattlesnakes have almost bit a few friends when I was bird hunting but either missed or were just bluff striking. I do wear snake gaiters for certain areas where those are thick. When are you buying that 45, Ron?

It was supposed to be a 10mm and I'm not buying it. But a 10mm for $419 was a deal. palmettostatearmory.com/taylors-company-1911-a1-ultra-10mm-pistol-8rd-g10-black-grip.html?utm_medium=email&utm_source=daily_deals&utm_campaign=20221121&utm_term=afternoon

Hard to beat a CZ. That Taylor 10mm also appears to have adjustable rear sight. Probably Philippine. Still a great deal if you like or need that cartridge.

Nothing around here that the 45 can't handle. If I need more power I've got rifles up to Cape Buffalo.

I worry more about these guys. If the NYPD cannot handle them, what am I supposed to do? We have small black bears and medium large hogs. Most deer seem to be very small. We have sasquatch but there's no record of them attacking people. I'm going to load some softball 45 loads and get a lighter recoil spring for the 1911. I bought it for target shooting anyway. My Star 30m is loaded with Buffalo Bore 9mm +P+ 124 grain hollow points. 17 of them.

30M is a beast. I used to have a Model B, with West German police markings and the correct holster with cleaning rod and spare mag. It was a sweet shooter, but would only feed ball reliably. HPs were generally not reliable in it.

If I’m not mistaken the PD was the first of the mini-45s. It was a great little gun— even had adjusties. I sold mine to a friend who lusted after it. Sorry to see it go but the grip just didn’t fit my hand. Star should bring it back. It would sell well in today’s market.

One of the most boring guns ever.

When the Suits take over and put the engineers and REAL gun-makers in the second (or third!) seat things go to hell. Ask Remington and Winchester about that.

I also had a stainless Firestar in 45. What a chunky and heavy little beast that was. Star was the best of the Eibar gun companies, then Astra and Llama in my opinion.

It was nickel plated with pearl grips and she was deadly with it.

In the past, I have not done well with my LCR in .38…short radius and hard to pick up the front sight. It is not a gun problem, it is an operator problem that I hope to solve, and feel confident as a backup gun in an ankle holster.
I just have to put the time in.
